  1. Jon Jon White was part of the Glasgow junior set up from late 1986 to 1989. He was always decked out in black with a tartan scarf. Even his machinery and van were black. His first appearance at Glasgow was in the Junior Grand Prix meeting in 1986 scoring an impressive 10 from 5. He was given a couple of outings for the junior side and was non-riding #8 for the senior side at Rye House. Ever friendly and determined to make it as a rider, this snippet from the Glasgow programme summed up his enthusiasm for the sport: "Junior Jon Jon White travelled from his Lake District home to be our #8 at Rye House, did the big end of his van on the way, hired another, and all for a second half ride and the grand sum of a fiver for his troubles!" I'm not 100% sure on this but I think a bad accident at King's Lynn in 1990 curtailed his racing career. Hans Nielsen appeared at Shawfield in 1988 to take part in a series of match races - he easily defeated Shane Bowes, Steve Lawson and Kenny McKinna. A planned 4-rider race ended up as a match race after Bowes & McKinna piled up at the first corner leaving Hans to defeat Phil Jeffrey in what was then a new track record of 65.6.
  2. I don't have a marked programme but the Workington programme of 12/04 has the track record of 74.5 credited to Ian Hindle.
  3. Just noticed your post brianmaxtedfan. Many thanks for the information. I don't have the second half results from 28/05 at Halifax - could you provide them please? Heat 1 at Sheffield, can you tell me who replaced who in white & yellow/black please? And can I just check the time for heat 3 at Sheffield - 89.8?
  4. Thanks to Graham Gleave for contacting me off-forum with the Belle Vue v Berwick information. Requirements list updated.
  5. Bringing this thread back to life as I'm in the process of updating the file. I'm still looking to resolve the 8th April Eastbourne v Exeter (LC) issue - does anyone have a marked programme that can confirm the result of heat 13, in particular whether Noer or Millard rode in the race?
  6. That same thought crossed my mind last night. Was it a Riders' Championship event at Bradford? Instead of having a series of races they just stuck all 5 in a run-off?
  7. Not quite in the same league but 15th July 1984 Boston v Glasgow, Colin Cook 10+2 (4) and Steve Lawson 15 (5). Cook rode at #6 so the two weren't programmed to meet. His extra ride was an R/R in heat 6.
  8. Actually I just have a lot of 'stuff' on my PC and happen to be a dab hand with a 'search' function Updating an Exeter 1984 file I've picked up a 9 from 13 - Monday 27th August 1984 Exeter v Poole (BL). All 7 home riders won at least one race (Mauger 3, Willmott 2, Campbell/Maxfield/Robinson/Andersen/Carr all 1) with guest Simmons (2) and Jakobsen (1) winning for Pirates.
  9. Another research project I've been working on for quite a while and still looking for some heat details and other info. I've included what information I have for each match so anything that can fill any of the gaps eg. basic scorers or line-ups from blank programmes, welcomed. 02/06 Ipswich v King's Lynn - full heat details [blank programme] 17/06 Poole v Exeter - full heat details [blank programme] 28/06 Stoke v Long Eaton - full heat details [blank programme & Long Eaton scorers] 27/08 Stoke v Milton Keynes - full heat details [no info at all except result] 29/08 Halifax v Berwick - full heat details [no info at all except result] 29/09 Halifax v Milton Keynes (staged after Halifax v Ipswich BL) - heat times [heat results from video footage]
  10. Glasgow scored 439 NL points away from home in 1985 - Lawson scored 201 of them. Yeh we kinda relied on him somewhat One for the three riders list: 28/29 25th July 1984 Long Eaton 49 Glasgow 29 (Lawson 13, Collins 9, Reid 6)
  11. 26th April 1979 at Oxford, Glasgow's Derek Richardson 12 & Steve Lawson 10 out of 26 (13 heats). 27th June 1981 at Glasgow, Crayford's Alan Sage 10 & Berry Thomas 6 out of 20 (13 heats). 11th September 1982 at Berwick, Kenny McKinna 20 (+1) & Steve Lawson 17 out of 42 (16 heats). Not quite on topic, but close enough I think, does Steve Lawson's record of 16 out of 23 at Arena in 1985 still stand as highest percentage of a team's total by one rider?
  12. First of all I'm looking for the heat details of the National Junior League match staged after the senior fixture. I have the result and scorers from Speedway Star. I don't have the 1988 yearbook so I'm wondering if anyone has a copy and can tell me if it published the N.J.L. averages. If so, could you please post the Glasgow/Workington figures for me?
  13. Nodlew and I have been working on the 1982 Anglia Junior League results. We're left looking for 6 results if anyone can help, senior fixture in brackets if different: 03/09/1982 Peterborough v Leicester (Peterborough v Middlesbrough) 07/09/1982 Leicester v Mildenhall (Leicester v Cradley Heath) 21/09/1982 Leicester v Milton Keynes (Leicester v Sheffield) 21/09/1982 Milton Keynes v Peterborough 28/09/1982 Milton Keynes v Mildenhall 10/10/1982 Peterborough v Milton Keynes
  14. Martin McKinna, Glasgow 1982 - 1991.
  15. So I couldn't change "Premier League" to "National League" because there would be one character too many? Or is there room for manoeuvre somewhere?
  16. The information I'm really after pre-dates the Speedway Surveys yearbooks,. In most cases it's heat details I want and the yearbooks didn't publish them. Having had a look at what I've got earlier, it's really ony the 1982 Anglia & Central, the 1984 Scottish and the 1985 Anglia junior leagues I'm missing basic results for.
  17. Thanks for that. Tell me more about editing the league names...just tried to edit the exe. using notepad and killed the thing completely
  18. I worked out how to change the team names years ago but never bothered tinkering with the riders list. How does the game generate new riders? Does it simply take a combination of first and last names from the rider list and produce a hybrid - Broc Crump for example? Or does it have another way of doing it?
  19. As far as 1987 is concerned, ten National League clubs are represented on Researcher. Only one, Glasgow/Workington, carries any junior details. Only five clubs have files for 1986, again only the Glasgow file carries any junior details. Good luck to anyone hunting down any junior results, I have files I've been working on for ten years plus that I'm still trying to locate results and heat details for.
  20. The Central section began with 6 teams - Boston, Long Eaton, Mildenhall, Milton Keynes, Peterborough and Stoke. Boston withdrew from the league in August having raced 6 of their scheduled 10 matches. Matches were over 7 heats. I can't confim any dates but matches tended to be staged following the corresponding senior league fixture, the dates of which are in brackets: (31/05) Boston 19 - 23 Long Eaton (19/07) Boston 13 - 29 Mildenhall (25/05) Boston 24 - 18 Peterborough (21/06) Boston 19 - 22 Stoke (15/07) Long Eaton 23 - 19 Boston (16/09) Long Eaton 17 - 25 Mildenhall (08/07) Long Eaton 26 - 16 Milton Keynes (27/05) Long Eaton 23 - 19 Peterborough, (01/07) Long Eaton 22 - 19 Stoke (05/07) Mildenhall 35 - 07 Boston (20/09) Mildenhall 29 - 13 Long Eaton (18/10) Mildenhall 19 - 23 Milton Keynes (02/08) Mildenhall 28 - 14 Peterborough (20/05) Mildenhall 26 - 16 Stoke (07/07) Milton Keynes 22 - 20 Long Eaton (30/06) Milton Keynes 15 - 24 Mildenhall (06/10) Milton Keynes 30 -12 Peterborough (11/08) Milton Keynes 29 -12 Stoke (22/05) Peterborough 21 - 21 Long Eaton (28/08) Peterborough 15 - 21 Mildenhall (17/04) Peterborough 21 - 21 Milton Keynes (11/09) Peterborough 32 - 09 Stoke (22/08) Stoke 20 - 22 Long Eaton (04/07) Stoke 22 - 19 Mildenhall (10/10) Stoke 18 - 24 Milton Keynes (24/10) Stoke 28 - 13 Peterborough
  21. It was suggested to me a long time ago that I'd actually played the programme way beyond it's limit. Hence glitches should be expected. They still happen on completely new games so I'm not so sure that's the reason but hey-ho
  22. A wee update on this one. The 19th July 1985 Edinburgh v Berwick programme carries a match report from the 5th July match and mentions "Heavy rain in second half which was cancelled after two races." It doesn't mention the AJL fixture but it's clear that the match either didn't take place or achieve a result. Regarding the after 25th September notion, further investigation seems to have proved me wrong with this one. 20th September Peterborough v Berwick programme appears to include a visit of Mildenhall in the AJL in the second half. It is billed as Event 5 Peterborough v ????? (Anglia Junior League) but the away riders are all Mildenhall juniors.
