Poole vs Kings Lynn 12/09/19
SteveLyric2 replied to LisaColette's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Crikey. I thought the track was a little bit iffy again last night, so I guess its all down to what mood the riders are in. Cook rode well and looked fast all night but so did Holder and Klindt. Harris was either very quick or very slow, not helped by obvious machine issues (which I hope he hasn't fixed by Monday!). Not sure what referee Ronnie Allen was on?? All everyone wants is a bit of consistency with decisions! -
Why was he in Denmark last night? He wasn't listed as riding anywhere. Anyway a fine for the rider and club rather than any ban is apparently what will now happen. Incidentally heard this evening that the rearranged Stars v Pirates next Thursday will only take place then if top spot has not been settled. Otherwise it will be deferred to October along with the outstanding Poole v KL Supporters Cup meeting.

And that's enough to excuse him is it?! Did he go from Denmark to Germany before missing his uk flight? Ban him. -

Lambert should be banned for 10 days. At least to make it fair for Swindon on Monday. Strange that he was queuing at airport security 6 hours ago but still missed the flight. -
Its mentioned in this week's Speedway Star in the Poole report. Nothing official yet anywhere else......?!

Cook will be looking for a maximum so he can pay his fine quicker!! So assuming he agrees to race after the track walk then it could be a closer meeting. Looking forward to it. -
KL v Poole scheduled for 19th September according to Speedway Star, but only if the top spot still needs to be resolved after Monday's scores.!! Otherwise deferred to after the playoffs.

Wells only had a week off - to get the intense physio required for his shoulder after riding 5 meetings in 5 days. So aiming to return on Friday is spot on! -
Russell stated he wanted to hand over a 'financially stable' club to Rosco and Lee Kilby!
-
Play-off meetings don't affect the averages - its only league meetings.
-
Lets not forget Jack had a crash last Thursday at Poole yet still managed 8 points - not good enough for a 3rd heat leader maybe but perhaps understandable.
-
All this against a backdrop of Terry Russell wanting to step down (due to health reasons) and the club struggling to break even - his comments - in a successful season!!
-
The stated aim for all Premiership clubs at the start of the season was to operate to an affordable operating budget so as to avoid any more clubs going bust or wanting to drop to a lower league. Obviously an 'affordable operating budget' will differ from club to club due to variable costs and different levels of sponsorship income. Belle Vue have been in the top 4 until the death and reached the cup final. I know a couple of clubs at least that would have been very pleased with that.
-
So I guess the big question is whether Swindon get anything from Kings Lynn on Monday as to whether KL need to come up with a date to host Poole (17th or 19th?), assuming Poole pick up maximum points from their two home meetings?!

Big decisions in November.

Am I right in thinking that any recent demises of speedway clubs has been down to the stadium availability rather than if the speedway itself breaks even or fails?
