Not quite sure why this is on the Poole v Ipswich meeting thread, but as I put on the other thread, the flag marshall was acting as instructed as the ref had put the red lights on when Cook set off before the rider parade and presentations had been completed - in fact were less than half way through. Cook nor any other rider should have been riding the track at that point - end of!!

The marshall was there because the ref had put the red lights on as soon as Cook and 2 others broke away from the riders and mascot presentation parade which is held on the back straight at Arlington. This was on turn 2 with Cook having already ridden bends 3, 4 and 1 as well as the main straight with the red lights on!! Flag marshall was only doing what is instructed. In any case with the SCB Co-Ordinator there to witness it all as well as the ref's report, then the SCB hearing will doubtless clarify everything - and take everything into account including the Glasgow owner's public apology on the microphone for his riders' actions.

All very well in theory. So what would happen if a rider bends his bike in a crash one week and blows an engine (or two) a week or so later? Get it covered by sponsors? When they are earning probably less than half that they do now? Yeah right. (and that assumes they all get paid!!!)

Whether the track marshall stepped in at the last minute or not is irrelevant, as whether Cook's actions to hit or avoid him are equally irrelevant. He should not have been on the track at that time endangering others.

Purely as an example - Which of the current batch of UK riders do you believe would ride for £50 a point in your senior league? Just asking

Not sure about Batch (other than history!!) but Jack and Brady will go straight from Poland to Sweden rather than consider a uk guest booking and having to pay their own flights!

Cheers - the link from the BSPA site doesn't seem to be working.... I always tend to use that link first as I always check the BSPA site before going to any individual club website!!

So with the SCB's Neil Vatcher present at the track and the 'pre-meeting incidents' apparently reported to him by the ref, I would expect that the SCB will call a hearing for all sides to put their case and then any punishment will be dished out thereafter. Hopefully it won't be before the Stars take on the Witches on Monday as they are already without Robert Lambert. ps. Any reason why the Glasgow website appears to be down?

So with all the shananigans at Eastbourne last night lets hope any punishment that Cook rightly receives, doesn't kick in til after Monday's meeting v Ipswich, especially as Lambert is already missing from that one!

Maybe running on a Saturday when theres a GP on tv might be a factor? We might get another clue this evening.

Personally, I would be amazed that any speedway fan - current or lapsed - would come onto any speedway related topic or forum to express a view without firstly checking the above link??!!

Just to be clear, with only Richie missing from the 1-5 then only r/r or a permanent replacement are the options! Could only use a guest for Richie if r/r was already in operation for another rider! Also once we get to the play offs, if there are any more injuries then guests can only come from the 3 non-qualifying teams or the CL.

...and MF made no secret of that fact!!

If Richie confirms his fitness by 28th August latest then he'll be back! If not then a replacement will be signed for September/October. (in my opinion of course.)
