Poole v Somerset 27 June 2018
SteveLyric2 replied to Ghosty's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I still think it'll be down to which team adapts to track conditions quicker with both tracks using poor quality shale from the same source!! Doyley won't risk too much if he doesn't gate as its GP week so I think Poole will have too much on the night but not quite enough for the aggregate win. -
Poole v Somerset 27 June 2018

With the weather forecasting temperatures up to 30 degrees it'll be interesting to see how consistent the track is having had 2 weeks to 'settle' after Stewart Dickson's (and others) guidance. I think Poole will win but not by enough to pull back the 14 point deficit.. -
Maybe to allow those clubs in the top league to run at weekends or on any preferred day due to their own local stadia issues there needs to be a change to 5 rider teams (as in Denmark) plus some sort of rider control on those riders who wish to ride abroad as well - especially in Poland.
-
No don't know for certain, BUT after MF's recent comments about assets at other clubs, I just wondered what would happen with a couple of Poole assets if Vaculik returns?!
-
....'cos its his club!!
-
So what happens if/when Vaculik returns? He was still on assessed 8.00 when he got injured!
-
To be in the top 4 (rather than the bottom 1 or 2, or 3) you need to win meetings or at least pick up some away points. Poole haven't been doing enough of that. nb. Interesting to see so many fans jumping on the MJJ bandwagon??! Not sure that any changes will be made in the short term although it may all revolve around changes elsewhere?!

Changes afoot - will surprise a few!!!!

Somerset v Poole Prem A. 20/6/18
SteveLyric2 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
You have to have strong and successful management at any club to make the difficult decisions. -
???? Whilst I know what you are referring to, I've never been 'called into the office'! I wasn't even in the country when the forum closed if thats what you mean?!. Incidentally I'm in the office every week, by choice. All I'm saying is that when it comes down to a 'club v rider' dispute, fans have differing views. Btw is Charles a Poole asset?
-
The word 'entourage' springs to mind!!!
-
KK now at number 1!! Now you know what most Poole fans felt like last year!!
-
Although totally different circumstances I recall - with a slightly wry smile - when Poole dropped the 'loyal Kyle Newman' last year there was an outcry in favour of the rider, but when Somerset drop the 'loyal Charles Wright', some are totally supportive of the management! Strange bedfellows some of speedway's folk!!!

Somerset v Poole Prem A. 20/6/18

So the line-ups are: Rebels: Doyle; Wilson-Dean; Vissing; Lawson; Holder; Allen; Covatti. Pirates: Brady; Linus; Richie; r/r for Nicolai; Josh; Mateusz; Kacper (NB I've used christian names for Poole as far easier and quicker to spell)!! Still think this could be a tight one -

Not sure how the Rebels will be with Vissing and Covatti in for Wright and Jeppesen. The moral here is clearly 'Don't mess with Garry May'!! -

Fixed night farce-how much longer
SteveLyric2 replied to mickthemuppet's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Absolutely. Couldn't agree more. The previously agreed (with the FIM) Mon/Thurs for the Premiership was primarily to give priority to the senior UK racing on those nights, by avoiding the majority of other European league fixtures ie Sweden Tuesday; Denmark Weds/Fri; Poland Fri/Sat/Sun. An added benefit would be a reduced reliance on guests for missing doubling up/down riders. Another side benefit might have been to attract more of the 'top' riders - but because some clubs couldn't afford them the BSPA chose to introduce the only 'one over the 8' rule'! As for 2019, who knows?! With the likes of Belle Vue and Rye House in particular suffering huge downturns in attendance and undoubtedly losing money hand over fist but with TV currently requiring a 'top' league goodness knows what the league set up will be? Maybe one league of 4-5 rider teams?! -
Yet here we all are on the Poole 2018 thread!!

Very interesting article by Terry Russell in this week's Speedway Star - amongst other things admitting that the BSPA got it wrong by changing the Premiership from the previously agreed Mon/Thurs (to avoid clashes with the International calendar) to Monday/Weds purely down to pressure from the Championship Clubs. -

Hans Andersen or Musialak would fit - if they're not riding elsewhere. -
By next month (july 2018) he will have been out for a year anyway!!
