Bisson! :-) Enjoyed several visits to Rye House back in the mid/late 80's. Gary Allan, Boycie, Langdons, Schoie, Kevin Smart, Ali Stevens - good times.

As I stated previously, my objection to the way you described Brady's performances was the use of the word 'struggling'! Below par maybe - not as good as he would have expected maybe - but in a 4-round series I don't consider any rider that reached 2 B finals (2nd and 3rd inc an engine failure) and won 1 A final to be 'struggling', anymore than finishing 7th out of 16 is 'struggling'!! Thank you for your final praise of Brady - albeit with the usual 'sting in the tail' comment. Incidentally in catching up on all the exchanges on here since I was last on yesterday morning, I reckon your family must be regretting all the family time they are missing out on through you being on here so much!!
-
I see the 'below-par' and 'struggling' Brady Kurtz makes the A final with 13 points!! lol

No wonder speedway is in such a state. So called 'fans' including many Coventry fans have been clamouring for a statement. Then as soon as they get one they bad-mouth it!! As for the poster that started the rider rumour - the so-called jchapman - another load of b/s from his sauces, who you would have thought would be reliable from his so-called previous contacts?! if anyone wants further proof that this is yet another alias simply stirring the proverbial..................?!
-
Leicester have made it clear in the Star this week that they are waiting for the Coventry situation to clarify before confirming their 1-7 as there may be other riders that would fit their team building options. Belle Vue is all about Manchester Council approving the final promotion - presumably with the BSPA's support?! Reading between the lines of the GP statement, his proposal didn't get BSPA approval - presumably because it included a past promoter that had his promoting licence revoked by the BSPA ie Chris Morton.
-
To be fair Steve, they have already said exactly that in their 'Festive Greeting' message on their website - as Neil Watson subsequently repeated on here. There has also been an official tweet on Wednesday 11th Jan to say that there should be more news early next week!!
-
Well their version of the 'facts' to give their position a bit of a media spin!! I can't see any reason for Horton or any other promoter in a similar position, to sign the new lease because he doesn't know what he'll be leasing until Brandon, Sandhu and the Police have sorted out the ownership (and damage caused by removal) of the fixtures and fittings! If the BSPA are 'forcing' the issue due to fixture planning etc - even if they've extended the time limit for the Bees to declare - then if true its no surprise that riders are looking elsewhere.
-
The article acknowledges DH's efforts in resurrecting the sport but also blames him for Leicester's slide in the past 3 years or so - by refusing to listen to fans!!
-
Some good stuff from Dave Darcy in the Star this week. He doesn't hold back on Hemsley or the non-possibility of Coventry sharing!! NB in a seperate interview, Justin Sedgman says that no deal has been done with anyone for 2017. He will be over in the UK straight after the Aussie Final to try to sort his visa out!!
-
Well one thing is for sure - judging by Dave Darcy's 2 pages in the Star this week, there's no way Coventry will be sharing with Leicester in 2017!!!

Anyway back to reality. Sincere condolences to Middlo on the loss of his mum today after illness. RIP Bridget Middleditch - our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family.

King's Lynn Stars 2017

And so she should bearing in mind her responsibilities at Belle Vue, which also helped with the on-screen repartee with Scott Nicholls. Best for pit interviews is still Sophie Nicholls for me. -
The issue with you Gav for several Poole fans is that you used the word 'struggling' when describing particularly Brady's efforts. IMO 'struggling' is very different to being 'below par'. 'Struggling' is not reflected in Brady reaching 2 B finals. 'Struggling' would mean only scoring 0-5 points per meeting!! In any case while you lot were all arguing last night I'm pleased to report another 'sold out' Game Show quiz night at Poole Stadium Champs Bar, with some insightful comments from 'Phone a Friend' - Aussie Team Manager Mark Lemon - who when asked about Jack and Brady's performances, reminded people that they are still only 20 years old!! He expects Jack to take the Premiership 'by storm' and Brady to just about hold his own on tracks that he has now ridden a couple of times at least - being more of a 'slow-burner'!! Also another good interview with Kyle Newman, who said he is well on course with his mechanical and physical fitness and looking forward to the season at both clubs. He referred to Ipswich as a well-run Championship club - a bit like a 'smaller Poole'!! (I had to smile when he said that!) lol
-
Agreed. That's why I suggested from the Council who are generally supportive of the stadium continuing and might - just might - have offered him better repayment terms than a commercial bank?!
-
Jack and Brady 'struggling' to the B final!!! lol
-
With Horton already having a lease from brandon to run the stadium, its a shame that neither Brandon nor the Council could make Horton a business loan to buy back the fixtures and fittings (or get replacements) and re-install them all. The stadium would then be operational - as would the speedway - and Sandhu's Stox could then decide if they want to use Brandon on Horton's terms?! Or maybe Coventry Speedway could seek alternative Stox providers?
-
Soz. It must have been the way wot you rote it?!
-
You'ld be wrong then ray c. Starman does quite a bit at the stadium and not only on race days, when he also sells the Star.
-
With negotiations and egos delicately poised, any 'daily update' on the situation from any of the protagonists (even with all their tacit private agreement) is likely to be questioned, countermanded or simply publicly disagreed with, just for some continued one-upmanship or scoring some media points!! Best to wait in hope until the whole situation is solved.

Doyley To Comeback Stronger.
SteveLyric2 replied to Sidney the robin's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Doyley, Chris Holder, Emil Sayfudtinov and Maciej Janowski and others are all lined up to take part In Darcy Ward's meeting at Poole on March 24th -
Trying their damnest to get the Bees on track for 2017 for the benefit of British speedway!!?
-
Neil Watson was on here a few days ago referring SS to their pre-Christmas message on their website - that they would post something when there was any updated news!! Negotiations are ongoing and are clearly 'delicate'. The slightest word or statement that might be taken more than one way could be like a red rag to a bull with the 2 protaganists (Sandhu and Horton) involved. Any statement from Coventry Speedway will come with the agreement of Brandon Estates, I would imagine - and rightly so. IMO anything else 'official' that has appeared in the public domain recently is simply one side attempting to flex their muscles via the media..
-
I don't know him. Is he one of Ipswich's new signings? Yes - you're missing the last 2 rounds!!! When you win things like a championship (not something you're used to in Ipswich admittedly!) its usually after all the rounds/meetings!! At the current stage, it could just be that the 6 other riders ahead of Brady are currently riding with a little more form than him?! Doesn't mean he's 'struggling' at all. Batch's bike catching fire would present more of a struggle imo.

There are many many examples of Councils funding, owning and running all kinds of venues around the UK - they simply employ specialist staff in those roles!! (I was one of those specialist staff for the last 16 years of my working life, responsible for 2 venues with capacities of up to 10,000 depending on the type of event!!) Admittedly with Councils continually struggling for local funding there are also examples of where they have outsourced the management of the venue to a specialist 3rd party - even a 'Charitable trust' in some cases - which should limit the Council's risk whilst retaining the fabric of the building. Council's generally don't 'promote' events - they hire out the facility to an event promoter, be it for a concert, a conference, exhibition or indeed a sports fixture eg speedway.
