  1. These aren't new - some clubs have been using these for ages - 5-1 with 4-2 on the reverse and often a sponsor's logo as well!! Of course you do have to have enough of a crowd to make it worthwhile! NB. I note you don't mention anything about the new streaming deal by the company part-owned by BSkyB? Any comments....?
  2. Lets be clear, Sky are not sponsoring Speedway any more - they have struck a deal to provide TV coverage, for which they will provide the BSPA/Go-Speed with a much-reduced 'rights fee', which will also include a payment to each home club for a televised meeting! Any additional League Sponsorship deal will need to be confirmed and announced soonest, in order to get the Sponsor Logo on the various sets of kevlars currently on order at the respective manufacturers!!!
  3. ...but has he got his visa yet??? So its Koppe-off and Facu-off!!?
  4. Great news - except for Havvy - that the Sky coverage starts with the ERC meeting switched to Friday 21st March!!!
  5. Or what about Jason's cricketing cousin Lindsey Doyle?
  6. Aussie Team Manager Mark Lemon has said on facebook today that theres more bad news to come!!
  7. As I've said before, I perfectly understand Sky's position. Whats to announce???? We know they are no longer sponsoring the League. If they are just going to televise some meetings, why not (from their perspective) wait until closer to the date of the first TV meeting?! As far as any potential League Sponsorship is concerned then I guess GoSpeed/BSPA will have negotiated such a deal knowing whether a TV arrangement is in place, so need the timing of that announcement to coincide with Sky deciding to announce their coverage - assuming it is Sky of course?!
  8. The start marshall would need to step in as there's no room for the away team sheep!!
  9. Didn't American Bobby Ott appear on it?!
  10. Anyone reading the Leigh Adams update article in the Star a couple of weeks ago, will know only too well that Leigh believes the current World Champion is truly Australian!!
  11. The one obvious benefit Sky's involvement with speedway has had is keeping at least an 8-team EL going for 15years - because without the dosh slushing around the promoters, several clubs would have gone to the wall ages ago!! What the promoters have done with the dosh - including the live meeting fees - is a totally separate issue!!
  12. As a subscriber of Speedway Star since the mid-eighties, I can see all the alternative points of view expressed above. On the subject of Readers' Letters, could PR give us an idea of the ratio of 'letters received' to 'letters published' each week? And perhaps some clarification as to why some are not published, aside from the possibility that some may be libellous?!
  13. Except for the Sky promos for their Summer Sports coverage.........!
  14. Just need the PL promoters to agree then!!!!
  15. The only problem with that being that unless it resulted in 'Poole taking all the blame', it would still be seen as non-contentious by many on here!! Whereas the full report in the Ss did explain the circumstances and who was responsible for making decisions on the night - but of course that didn't suit some people's agendas!!
  16. The biggest problem is that all the 'foreign' teams' riders will want to be paid what they earn in Poland, Sweden etc, so I'm not surprised Poole - or any other British club - would think twice about staging it. Poole were one of the keenest for this competition to take place a couple of seasons ago - as were Sky - especially when there were lots of spare dates in the fixture list!!! Not sure there are that many spare Wednesday nights this year when it could be hosted?! Any 'off-raceday' could also be difficult as it would likely clash with the foreign fixtures as well as possibly meaning two home meetings in a week!
  17. Its not as if this Pairs event is new - they ran it last season and it was on Eurosport! Personally I thought it was a total borefest and the commentators struggling to keep any enthusiasm going for the TV viewer.
