  1. Must admit Lambert as captain was a bit left wing, however, David is vice captain and will no doubt offer his opinions when he feels like it. As vice captain he will assume the position of captain when Lambert is not available. As for riding order would have thought: 1. Lambert 2. Chessell 3. Mason 4. Compton 5. Morley 6. Freemantle 7. Blake Could see it may differ for away meetings.
  2. Now we know the team and the fixtures any considerations on riding order for the early outings?
  3. And is Simons' election as team captain a surprise? David has the vice captain position.
  4. So does Len intend to find riders for future NL team, aka Kent Kings, or a Raiders side? Always we must remember that willing lads need the track time and much of that as genuine racing time. All teams should, perhaps, be compelled to have a NL side that they support or run. I have always found the lower level racing to be interesting as there is normally one if not two riders who stand out, easier to spot at these levels.
  5. Let's hope Adam has a fresh start and realizes his dream of getting a permanent team spot. Good luck Adam.
  6. Still think David over Benji. Hope they are paired for racing in the team as they were I suggest the best pairing last season. Dates when Simon and Ben might not be available: 03/05: Stoke (A) - Ben Morley (Lakeside), 05/05: Mildenhall (H) - Simon Lambert (Rye House), Ben Morley (Lakeside), 12/05: Stoke (H) - Simon Lambert (Birmingham) 09/06: Poole (H) - Ben Morley (Lakeside), 07/07: Mildenhall (H) - Simon Lambert (Birmingham), 11/07: Devon (A) - Ben Morley (Lakeside) 18/08: Buxton (H) - Ben Morley (Lakeside), 23/08: Stoke (A) - Ben Morley (Lakeside), 25/08: Lakeside (H) - Simon Lambert (Birmingham) I believe Kent is the only team to lose two riders for a National League meeting on the same day. BAck to what the replacement rules will be?
  7. So the riders + Chris Hunt and John Sampford are voting for team captain. Could be an interesting outcome. Any chance that the individual picks would be released. Possibly be David Mason as the captain! Any other thoughts?
  8. Fixtures posted now. Looks as if we may just get into September with a meeting! Have our runout with Kings Lynn at home then a week off. Maybe something can be arranged to keep the turnstiles open. Several riders look as if they will not have a team spot this season including Adam Kirkby, such a shame.
  9. Strange but no, there was a thought of Rochester but that ran out and I had moved and then had the Blackwall tunnel to pass through.
  10. Life through the 60's 70's 80's 90's 00's and teens. - Rayleigh. West Ham. Lakeside (Arena Essex) now Kent Kings
  11. All dried up for the end of the close season I see!
  12. I note what you say Gustix, however, I do not recall your saying the same of Kent Kings last season. Maybe it was as you know that Sittingbourne as a preferred name(?) was already held by Iwade.
  13. I like your optimism providing the meeting goes ahead. Anyway be good for the lads to have a meeting on that track before meeting them there in the league.
  14. No bye in the KO and drawn to the Devon mob, could be a costly trip.
  15. And I thought Kent had issues. Reading on this site it seems endemic in the sport. The best thing about the National League is when you unearth a real winner and they do not materialise that quick!
  16. I may be missing the point here, but surely the points system is meant to ensure that regardless of the money spent the teams start with a particular strength on paper. Agreed those with money may attract the higher earners, yet no-one not even Matt Ford can have a team of heat leaders, you look for the promising rider, hopeful of their progression and increased points scoring. I would prefer to see teams built from the bottom up but it always seems to be built from the top down. Bring on the reserves, they then become the second strings and then heat leader quality. If you look after them then hopefully you build your own team over time. Cuckoo land I know.
  17. For any of those of you out there with memories of the West Ham days contact http://eastlondonradio.org.uk/ as they are I understand wishing to do a piece on the old stadium and West Ham speedway.
  18. You should not have put your money into football then you would not be disappointed, so serves you right. Speedway is King!
  19. Hector, Peterborough in the press release state Kent Kings then for the line-up say Rye House Raiders. Time someone made things clear, either it is the Kings else the Raiders. Takes us back to earlier bleats on this site, sadly
  20. So there is to be a 6 heat challenge at the Christmas Cracker meeting between Coventry Storm and a Kings select. Good to see.
  21. Surely Waco there will be a press and practice Session? Obvious other choice becomes Rye!
  22. So the opening meeting is against the Young Stars, should provide a strong opener for the lads. Lets hope they can have some track time at Central Park ahead of this one.
  23. Might not be correct in my thinking, but looking at the Lakeside fixture list Kent might not be without their "fast track" riders too often, if at all. Need to wait for the NL fixture list and see how many Friday meetings clash or awayday meetings throw up clashes. Silence may be due to the shock of seeing the new Facebook and website layouts. Not much buzzing there either! Might be a story there, any chance?
  24. Was that pun intended? Stoke must now become the league front runners then, what! Perhaps Malcolm more reason for Stoke becoming league frontrunners if the same seven blend and work for each other. Shades of West Ham 64-65, wooden spoonists to 3 titles!
  25. Poses another query then, will equivalent points grading (green sheets) replacement riders be permitted? To possibly ride minus two heat leaders will really start to distort the results. Whistlegang, good of you to move the subject matter forward, not that I disagree with a factual debate, however, personal aggro pushes the boundaries of this forum.
