  1. With Nikko and Paul withdrawing from the KK enterprise it makes one wonder how things will go forward, With annual meetings coming around and no certainty on TV rights, it feels like the early 60's are to be re-visited. I do not like uncertainty, and by golly a big hole has been driven into the KK club, without our awaiting external pressures. In respect of the basics, the riders, some team lists appear to be very biased towards Lakeside assets, and did not Len have a loose tie-up there at one time? Just a thought. Yes Roger did have to have an experienced promoter alongside him for his first year of tenure, but not a whole rut of them. In some respect putting the shutters up till next March does not help anyone other than rumour mongers, maybe even lead to breeding them! At least be open and honest, it is not only the fans who like to know what is likely to happen but riders must also wonder. I suppose the club will be inundated with people volunteering to replace Nikko and Paul, but a lot of experience has been lost and really the club supporters should consider that fact. Glad I have got that off my chest, hopefully Nikko and Paul will have a re-think and I believe collectively that fans could influence their decision taken I believe in haste. This is a forum to be used for such a task as would Facebook. Get typing all and one!
  2. Helmet match races were keenly anticipated back in the 60's, all the shine has now gone and where have the original helmets gone?
  3. Be interesting to see how much confidence yesterdays win will instil in the team. Adam has been the key lately but Connor and Jack stepped up to the plate yesterday. Time the Kings had an away win and where better? The Hitmen did Mildenhall the other week so all is possible.
  4. And he only scored 9 on Monday - did I see that he was unable to see off two (2) Premier League riders one of whom he will meet on their home track in defence of his Bronze Helmet. I believe that I also saw Ben Morley defeat both of those two PL riders on Monday, or did Steve just have an off-day? Pure conjecture, but were all 7 of the team to click on the same evening may someone help the opposition.
  5. Nikko, surely your footnote now requires an update or have too many names been included in the squad with us being only half-way through the year? David should never have been dropped after only two meetings as the team was bottom ended, Benji has not really made any great significance over and above that of David. Sometimes leave well alone is worth remembering especially as track and team had not even bedded in.
  6. Strange consideration, two totally different shaped tracks and one is well bedded, the other leaves much to be desired if consistent times are expected. No doubt Steve is rated and does pull out more from the track than the other lads, is it the line he takes rather than the machinery? Currently there only appears to be one line, no running the fence here yet! As for where he wants to be that is entirely up to him, Len may or may not want him at Rye House in the future, though he could have slotted in ahead of Rob Mear when that opening arose. All conjecture!
  7. So right Gustix, Adam has found some form. Now Connor and Sam need to score some points which will raise their confidence and self-belief. Difficult at this level to find the cash for bike(s) spares and transport let alone just ride. The track was much better yesterday but racing lines are very limited, Benji got into a groove but heat 15 was one ride too far with a last. A team will arrive on the day and gain a win, just a matter of time.
  8. The lads set the scene at Buxton, lets now hope that they can lay down a marker at home tomorrow. Sure to be an interesting contest and with more shale laid it will be an interesting meeting as there is still no real home track advantage yet.
  9. Neil Vachter (or Lakeside) wearing one of two hats saw the potential and signed him, not Adams fault he can mix it at both National and Premier League levels. Be thankful that he may soon be mixing it at the top level and for Britain. As for Kent let the lads find their feet and with more shale laid they may do just that and surprise a few.
  10. Difficult to let your top man go Builderbob and the three pointers are learning the craft... The team needed to settle in perhaps!!! Too late now the deed is done.
  11. What affect will this SACKING have on the rest of the team? How is Steve going to raise morale? Will they all be looking over their shoulder now? Sadly the first two meetings were against teams having much stronger riders and though David did not score well it is a new track and HOME ADVANTAGE does not yet exist, I am sure that with less able riders visiting shortly, the ability of David to inspire the youngsters would have shone through and his own average would have been met. His knowledge of the away tracks would have been invaluable to the youngsters. The sport is a lot about confidence and if that is lacking in a rider then he needs to be helped not kicked in the teeth.
  12. Well Phil we all have to be patient and trust that the final rider knows who he is and is doing some out-of-sight out-of-mind training, hopefully on track. With the weeks counting down to the first session we do not have much longer to wait.
  13. Good to see that the Hammers youngsters are being discussed on this forum with young Jack now being given an opportunity to show his prowess in competitive league racing. Good of Kent Kings to take the plunge as this is what this league is about. Rather see these relative novices in action than a group of experienced riders plundering points in this league.
  14. Predictors just stop and think it could go to the wire "and number 7 is..... as he comes to the tapes"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just a thought.
  15. Adam on a 3 point average sounds good to me. This is what this league should be about, introducing youngsters to league racing under the guidance of more experienced racers/managers.
  16. Perhaps he should have a quiet word with Michael Lee, else read his book!
  17. Would not like to say what is hot with it being so cold down here. Surely Kent are structuring a team that will have a long tail, yet if they get to grips with their own track will surely have a good chance. Need the final set of riders to be able to improve their averages though.
  18. "Boxer" Boxall to lead the way, I am sure that he will have some decent machinery and will want to prove himself.. Young Marc Owen I believe is a Lakeside asset and would possibly be guided by Jon Cook regarding his career, he was struggling with the costs involved a year ago so a move to a closer home team could sway him if the opportunity arose.
  19. Waco, you do not want to see 3 pointers running half a lap behind, well why are they only on those low figures if not because they are learning their craft? A sound 3-pointer has the chance to improve, it is those on the higher averages who are most likely to let you down if they fail to maintain or it. Give those at the bottom a fair crack of the whip, not all riders are potential stars yet sound teams require riders that give of their best and also entertain.
  20. All speculation on who will make up the team. Possibly it would be better to have the names announced sooner rather than later then we would all know! A new track, a new team is all exciting but it will initially be a great leveller for all riders.
  21. Great day out at Paradise Park with my son yesterday. Did not realize my age till someone said "that's before my time". Still good to see we have a third rider, an all Brit team is what is required so as to help the British cause.
  22. Second named rider to be announced from the drippy tap! A good trier.
  23. The radio interviews were both good, next interview TV?
  24. A legends parade sounds good as it might attract some of the older supporters from previous Kent clubs. The quality of the speedweay must be the highlight of the first meeting regardless of any other razzmatazz.
