Newcastle Vs Workington League Cup 24.04.16 6.30pm
Django replied to mike7164's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think these 2 sides are quite evenly matched and will be both there or thereabouts come the business end of things, the meeting at DP would have ended a similar score line to last night had Newcastle had their regular line up. Hopefully lessons can be learned for the Comets for the league visit. -

I'll be chuffed with a point given our record there, it's probably worse than Berwick's! -
Like Berwick the Comets have suffered in the past with doubling up riders and riders who do individual meetings on a Saturday, this year we have none. There will probably a couple of meetings which Ricky misses due to GP qualifiers etc but on the whole we should track our 1-7 more often than not. The doubling up problem is worse this year as well with Belle Vue moving to a Friday night (whenever they start racing at home) and King's Lynn going to a Thursday. It seems Newcastle will suffer more than most but their promotion knew this when putting their team together. It's an excellent side on paper made even stronger today by Richie Worrall replacing Kus, I think the Comets unbeaten run at home is under threat.

Wet and grippy at Worky on Sunday and he didn't like that either. Can see a change coming there if he doesn't pull his finger out -

By my reckoning they'd need to lose another 1.63 off their averages for Sedgemen to come in for Etheridge Doable? Very well done to Berwick on their win. -

Theo was great both for and against the Comets in our 2 matches, he's flying despite an early season virus, I'd expect him to do really well. Fancy Berwick for at least a point. -

Cook yes, Fricke no -
It all depends on which Kyle you get. Too often he was concentrating on his EL team and just messing around with us, riding the white line and going through the motions, when he lost his ride at Swindon his form dipped badly and he didn't seem interested. A new club might well be the making of the lad and if that's the case then Worky will have a valuable asset still which can only be a good thing.

Who would Newcastle drop to bring Rene in? Can't see it happening. Can see him back at Worky mid season

Bjarne Pedersen has just tweeted that he's been dropped by Lakeside.

Or maybe a club official could post the good news on here when it is released on other forms of social media? You may know a club official who could do it...

Thought Danes were on a 7.00? Or has he not ridden in the top leagues?

Couple Of Questions Since 2000
Django replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Cookie and previous owner Keith Denham had disagreements. Cookie and Rich Lawson didn't (and still don't) get on and Lawson was supposedly the better bet. Wrong decision but hindsight is a wonderful thing. -
Workington didn't get a facility at Rye House for our Dane (Hansen) when he was riding in Poland, had Luke Crang at Number 1 I believe. You get a facility if they are riding in their homeland.

As an Elite League outsider my opinion is that both leagues should work together towards single race nights for both. For example if Elite was Thurs and Premier Friday then the GP boys could fly in and race then go to their GPs while doubling up guys only have to be in the UK for 48 hours, it would also allow weekends to be free to watch televised speedway and also not lose riders to GP Qualifiers and National events, I'd also have a 3 Brit minimum in the Premier to encourage home growth. I realise this will probably never happen.

Rene, Kyle, Kenneth and Rusty were all rubbish away from Derwent Park and only 1 of them remains for 2016. The way that Kenneth rode at home was breathtaking at times and I'm glad he's back. On the subject of Peterborough I think Bjerre would be a great addition to the Premier League but if he signs for an Elite League team as well as his other commitments then it can't be a viable option can it?

Cookie's average is too high

I understand Mason made the B final at the Jason Crump Invitational today scoring 10 points in qualifying

The rule was widely rumoured way before the AGM so it had obviously been discussed. Anyway Ryan Blacklock should be given a go IMO, he's improving all the time and relatively local, we know how much you Monarchs love a marra!

He was a lovely fella, will be sadly missed. Very sad.
