So Bellers101 stayed at home and missed a great meeting on a very good track. That's just what every speedway club needs....slagging off by people who don't bother to attend! If you pay your money , your entitled to criticise, but how will you know if things improve if you don't attend? Support your TEAM , not the promotion!

The Death Of Amateur Speedway Meetings?
Veterancub replied to Veterancub's topic in Training Tracks / Amateur
As it stands the S.C.B. Are still stating that a full race licence is required, although they are making noises about just requiring a 'day' licence, so they appear unsure of their own directive! I notice that an Amatuer meeting is going ahead shortly but not sure how they are approaching this new ' law'. -
It appears that the S.C.B. Have now decided that in order to compete in an Amateur meeting EVERY rider has to be registered with the S.C.B. ( as listed on S.C.B. Website) This apparently means EVERY rider has to hold a speedway licence issued by them ( current cost £88). At my last amateur meeting only about 10 out of 46 held such a licence. This is going to have a major impact on the running of such meetings. Anybody got a different interpretation of this latest rule? I'm hoping I've got this seriously wrong!

Redcar Speedway Open Practice Saturday 28th March 2015
Veterancub replied to Veterancub's topic in Training Tracks / Amateur
Looking decent for tomorrow. Weather forecast States rain through the night but dry and windy from around 10 am, so that will save us watering the track. I will be at the track from 8.30 if anyone needs a last minute update, Brian will not be in attendance tomorrow. -

Redcar Speedway Practice Saturday 21st February
Veterancub replied to Veterancub's topic in Training Tracks / Amateur
Weather is sunny, track was prepared last night and looks fine, so all looking good for Redcars first practice session of 2015. 10.30 start but be there early as it's expected to be very busy. -
There you go then!. "Ready to ride in any team that will have him".... But not prepared to travel! That's what I mean about having the right set up. I fully understand lads , at this level, not wanting to travel too far, that's why they are classed as Amatuers, they are not at the stage of being ready for these leagues if they won't travel. We have matches all over the country and just about any night/ day of the week, so please understand where I am coming from.... There isn't a hugh pool of riders waiting to step into these team places, as you have just proved. Look at Danny Phillips,Luke Ruddick , Stefan Farnaby and Ryan McDonald, plus others who are travelling hundreds of miles just to get a couple of rides in order to progress in speedway. That is, unfortunately, the level of dedication that is now required in this sport.
-
Those who ride in most of the open classes are already aligned to a team of some sort, either National or MDL. Even most in the support class lads ride in MDL or NJL. There isn't a huge pool of riders of the right ability with the right set up ready to move into these leagues . This is why the NJL have chosen to give the real youth , at 125 cc level, a chance to ride in a competitive league. However, if you have a rider who you consider right for the MDL or NJL, please ask him to come to Scunthorpe , Redcar or Northside training schools soon where he will be watched and, no doubt, approached, as the NJL are certainly looking for a few riders. I look forward to seeing Mr. Bambury in action, and anyone else you may consider right for the leagues. I, or my talent spotters, will be at all their practice sessions.

It's more than a matter of just ' moving up'. It's called expense!....you need a licence ,£88 ,a legal silencer £75 second hand, legal guards, £75, and the list goes on. Most amateurs are just that, they ride on a weekend for fun. It's a different ball game even riding in the MDL or NJL.....time...effort and money required for no earnings. So don't be surprised if Billy Bloggs does make the odd appearance for more than one team. It shows he is committed!

RedcarRacer....Never let the truth get in the way of your imagination. No one has offered to buy Redcar Speedway.....individuals have offered to buy in......and that's a lot different! And as for the consortium making money!....check the public register....it's easy to do.....and you will see there is no money being made by anybody......Unless your Poole...speedway is a financial dead loss and it's only the real enthusiasts who are keeping it going. Just be thankful you have speedway to watch, as, if the current backers pull out, you won't have any speedway at all as no one in their right mind is going to take on the debt and pay the council rent for 12 months of the year when you are only going to run 14 meetings this season!

Who Is The Best Pl Number One Ever?
Veterancub replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Joe Owen ....and I'm a Teesside fan!....There were a lot of top number ones around in that era including Tom Owen, John Jackson, Steve Lawson, Lou Sansom, Dave Perks, Martin Yeates And, of course Steve Wilcock but Joe was outstanding. There have been many others over recent years but Joe was an attraction at every track he rode at.....pure class and I booed him at every opportunity.....he was that good.! -
When is a rumour not a rumour? If an official from another club announces in public that riders from his wants list have signed for Glasgow, including riders he thought he had signed, does that not make it fact? Or am I spreading rumours?

Redcar Speedway First Ever Amateur Meeting.
Veterancub replied to Veterancub's topic in Training Tracks / Amateur
Fantastic event today with committed racing throughout. In the 500 Open class ( which was a combined class with the support riders due to numbers) there were great performances from Danyone Hume and Ben Basford but they didn't manage to finish enough races to qualify for the final. Trevor Bebbington just missed the final on race wins. This was hotly contested with the unlucky Alex Wilson falling whilst challenging the leaders resulting in a win for Luke Ruddick from Berwick, who was fast and smooth all day going through the card unbeaten. Josh Embleton was a very creditable second for someone who can't gate at all, and a worthy third was Kev Whelan. 500 Novice class had everyone on their toes with Dale Pate winning the only race he finished. This resulted with a win in the final for the smooth Jack Flynn from the youngster James Culbert and a third for Lee Baldwin, with Isle of Man tourist Gareth Davies an unlucky fourth. 500 youth class finished as per the qualifying scores with Jack Daniel-Parkinson a deserved winner closely pressed by Macualey Leek with Keiron Douglas third. 250 youth was won by Kyle Bickley who just got the better of Kean Dicken with the hard trying Tomas Miles third. The large 150 class had some very close, committed races with everyone rider giving it their all. Jack Flash Wright kept the start marshals busy whilst Carl Basford and Jack Shimelt looked promising whilst Jordan Palin was unlucky not to get to the final which was won by Leon Flint just pipping Harry McGurk and James Hitchen with Ryan Morris just missing out on a trophy. A great days racing, full heat results to follow. -
