There are lots of reasons why it doesn't run every fortnight......but mainly finding available volunteers!. It's not just on the day you need help, there's still the track to do afterwards, boards to clean, pits and changing rooms to maintain, etc etc. just ask Richard at Scunthorpe, he spends 25 hours a day running things down there! Some of us only get one weekend off a month. We also try not to clash with events at Northside and Scunthorpe, so you can always get your practice somewhere -

This practice is definitely on , despite internet rumours, weather forecast is good, so, if your not riding at Northside, get yourself to Redcar! -
Oops, sorry.

Great stuff, but Ben Basford,s average for Redcar should be 12. He scored a paid max in that first match at Workington. Keep up the good work.

The whole sheet is incorrect. You can't have Farnaby riding a 500 against Bickley on a 125! Was the referee asleep? -

This isn't a Darts match!...where the dart board is always on the wall and you just need players to turn up and threw a few darts at it! You expect a speedway match to be rearranged, with less than 24 hours notice, because of a weather forecast? Whilst the 14 riders may have been notified that they are required at a location at a certain time and date, what about their travel plans ( flights?), their mechanics? Who usually have full time jobs and what about the very important track staff? You expect them to just stop what they are doing and rearrange everything at short notice because it MIGHT rain tomorrow? Do you know that speedway is run by amateurs who do their jobs because they love the sport but also have to work for a living and plan their lives around something called a fixture list? To even think you could change the fixtures around with such short notice shows that you do not understand how speedway clubs have to run their business,s. Please, consider what you are suggesting before putting it in print. -

No limit on size of squads. Berwick have that many young riders ( mainly 125cc riders) that they just about had enough riders to fill two teams but not on a regular basis. Hence Berwick A and Berwick B being represented in the KO Cup. As we ,The NJL, feel it's all about giving the yougsters as many rides as possible, whenever possible, this appeared to be a good opportunity to field an extra team. Berwick will pick from both squads for their league commitments. Redcar are running a series of Challange matches using the Cleveland Bay's name which used to be the team from Middlesbrough in the days when we didn't have a Speedway track in Middlesbrough. This allows all squad members a chance of competitive rides and the chance for a few new names to get to impress for a team place. Whilst I,m not part of the decision making on the " double up" match, I think it was to save a bit of costs on the Castleford lads having to travel to Berwick twice, remembering that Castleford also run in the MDL and are running a bit short of 500 riders willing to travel, especially on a Saturday when many other tracks run. Didn't mean to sound sarcastic....my apologies.
