  1. Think this meeting easily trumps the performance earlier in the season against Ipswich? One of the most "heartless" meetings I've ever seen a Comets side put up in god knows how many years and the only positive thing I can say about this is a BIG well done to Mason Campton, without him for definite this would have been even more embarrassing, solid enough performances in support from Ostergaard/Proctor but unfortunately that's where it all ended? Too easy for Edinburgh, Wells back at his best, Erik Riss just too good throughout, looked way too fast for our blokes and although he fell away a bit, Masters had done his winning when it was needed, solid efforts from the rest and play off time it is with an easy four pointer? Three home meetings left to try and resurrect some pride in the team and at least go out with a bang as after this catastrophe unless there are some serious personnel changes both on and off the track this looks very much like the end of the Comets, I dont want it to happen but these collapses in form shouldn't keep happening, yes, I know we cant win anything but we can still keep winning and performing at home and keep the flag flying, you cant just give up like tonight and expect supporters to keep paying to watch? Best thing to do now is just draw a line under this, regroup for tomorrow and start again, we wont be this bad, surely!!! PS. As for the Serjeant business, after that little strop the guy just needs to step back, take a deep breath and calm down, he wont go anywhere performing like that? He proved last night he can score points so why he falls apart down here is an absolute mystery to me, he was unlucky in the reserve race but, as for the rest of it, what happened, total enigma???
  2. So, we're using R/R coz we cant find any rider for Craig, the last few posts have asked, do we want speedway in Workington, and then we get this situation straight away, answers on a postcard?? I think this has just shown up what a disaster the Premiership is when their individual Championship is populated "virtually" by Championship Ht Leaders?
  3. Your questions have answered themselves, that is what the problems have been in the past and continues to be now, unless SGB can come up with a formula that provides consistency of the product we will continue to have a sport in decline? As for the Comets situation I will continue to get down as much as possible but for me the writing is on the wall for the very reasons you quote, it's become too much of the same old same old, start with a team, end up with a team of individuals, too many meetings lost, too many blank weekends, too many allowances made for under performing riders, a few poor results and off we go again? Far too many supporters have left, probably never to return to make the club viable as things stand, crowds of 300/350 are not going to sustain the club and unless we stop tinkering with rules/team builds and, in the case of the Comets, put together a competitive side that can consistently race together we will never break the cycle that we are currently in? This team is failing because it hasn't come together soon enough and at this stage of the season, when the prizes have gone for another year, you won't see too many big returns from riders as their eyes will be on a job for next year, just take it in turns, do what needs doing and hope it's enough for the win, it happens all the time, supporters know that and as a result, it's bye bye til next time, the only time you'll stop that is when we as a team are competing at the business end and not just watching the season fading away? If we run next year I would suggest a far more robust team management than we currently have, if you allow failing riders to perform every week you are effectively rewarding riders for doing exactly that, supporters then reward you by not turning up, even if you change and it doesn't solve the problem your at least being seen to be making an effort and that would stand you in far better stead than persevering with no hopers, change the riding order, freshen things up, do something different, not what we do now, too little too late?
  4. This date has been an official fixture since the start of the season so Comets wouldn't have been looking to change it anyway? What's exacerbated the situation is that Jorgensen only joined Kings Lynn half way thru the season but has made such a good job of it he's now top man and their representative whereas before it may just have been Craig we were looking at a replacement for? Edinburgh are at home tonight, at our's tomorrow and we are at Scunny on Sunday so this weekend would be unrealistic and, as you say, we are struggling with dates it would have made no sense to give up another Saturday for some other event elsewhere, doing that, blanks and rain offs have hurt us badly this year and it really would have been suicidal to throw another meeting, on a reasonable forecast for tomorrow, to some other time in the season? Not sure of any other days we can use now but normally it's only been Friday, Saturday or Sunday, there could be other's but I wouldn't like to bet on it, planning permission etc?
  5. Highly unlikely, Cook and Jorgensen were riding last week and the crowd was poor, this week they aren't riding two guests are, two capable riders but in a meeting that again carries nothing for the Comets it's, just another match, sad as that may sound that's all it is? They are, well at least for Edinburgh that is, if only to keep Redcar at arm's length!!
  6. You could also quote the farce that is the current KO Cup, are we actually bothering with this event or just given it up as a bad job? Who's still in it by the way?
  7. Our promotion have said exactly the same thing about this situation so if your guy's are saying it also well, it must be right??
  8. You can only beat what's in front of you but it was nice to see some confidence boosting scores tonight for a couple of our riders!! Quiet meeting really, not many good races to talk about but enough to keep you interested, Peterborough just too much under strength to be any realistic opposition, tried hard but outgunned where it mattered, hope for a better meeting next time around? Good solid performance from the team, looked sharp and quick all night, cant complain at a big score and 3pts, if only we could have done this earlier in the season?
  9. As you'd expect for a meeting that didn't capture "anyone's" imagination?? 300 best guess I would say, not good for us whatever??
  10. Unless something has changed the A fixture with Peterborough in July was postponed so we have two home meetings with them still to race, first is this weekend, (2nd) the original B fixture, and provisionally both A/B away fixtures next week on the 10th, the other home meeting with them is still to be arranged!!
  11. Reading of a couple of sore bodies for the Comets this afternoon, (Campo/Serjeant) and 3 in 3 wont have helped so fair play to them for at least having a go, as for the rest of it well, least said soonest mended?
  12. If Craig has any preconceptions about being in the GP he has to move from the Comets, Fri/Sat nights for those so we have no chance of keeping him, in name only Premiership racing but he needs a European track to race against the quality riders on a regular basis, wont do much without I'm afraid? As for the others well, Campton has been much better this year but I get the feeling he's keeping a bit for himself, 6+1 for us at Ipswich then guests for Ipswich and gets 12+1, other way around would have been better? Proctor is getting better at DP, more a gater than a racer but much improved, his away form still a bit suspect at times but I'd keep him on, (if we run that is)? Williamson, well the wheels have definitely come off there and for no explicable reason, hard to fathom at the moment but should be scoring better than he is? Jorgensen has never really came to the party this year, shows glimpses of what he can do but not consistently enough, maybe a lack of regular racing has held him back but certainly not delivering the goods as was expected, bit unlucky I think? Serjeant is an enigma, even if he gets a good gate his equipment isn't fast enough to maintain his position, points make money, money buys the bits required but not scoring enough to buy the bits? If it came together he would be useful, it just isn't right now and very possibly wont? Shame really!! No7, farcical, was always going to be contentious putting inexperienced riders in permanent positions, unlikely to score much and simply not capable of earning enough to make it viable, feel sorry for them, too much of an ask, should only move up when they feel ready to make the leap? Said it myself and agree with everyone else, move the team around, shake it up, we've nothing to lose and after Jacko's crass comment in the T&S about the play offs being beyond us with nearly half a season left to race we've clearly given up so why not take a new direction, you cant read that and still expect a crowd to watch you blunder thru the next few weeks of home matches knowing that we're not really bothered, lets see something different, it might work it might not but who cares, title's gone??
  13. According to the latest programme it's, Home/Away v Newcastle and home fixtures v Glasgow and Peterborough!!
  14. Nothing new there then Rob, this may be something that "might just" be announced 15mins before tapes up??
  15. Very poor performance, I was rather hoping for a point from this but to lose by 19 so, not even close is very disappointing? Losing Campton wont have helped much but there appears to have been too many lukewarm returns from too many that were left to cause Berwick too many issues, big payday for them, at our expense? Certainly not promoting ourselves at all and with the season for us barely into its second half it's going to be a long run in for a team running on vapour as far as confidence goes, this is not good? Cant say for certain we're on the countdown to oblivion but we certainly do give off that impression at this moment in time??
  16. Reading in the T&S that it's Aaron Summers guesting for Craig in this, should make for a very interesting meeting?
  17. Your right, it's a massive "under statement" !! There's rather a lot of acronym's in this meeting I'm noticing, who's involved in this again, B,WK B,TS v W,TON CMTS!!!!
  18. Let's hope we can get a crowd then, at least one that is "so much better than last week", ( there's one for Brucie) !!
  19. Agree with the second part but I wouldn't bet on the first with your money, not at this time anyway, I'll run the season through and see what condition we're in at the end of it?
  20. But whom, that's the question? Thomas Armstrong's must have pumped thousands into Workington Speedway over the years, Laura Morgan, exactly the same so for some reason I dont think money is the problem the latter part of your post is where the issues lie, that's what we're not getting anymore? Throw into the mix the rain offs, missed weekends, clubs not wanting to visit "off schedule" and your halfway to losing your sport, once interest wanes through lack of activity it's very difficult to get it back it has to have consistency, which isn't always forthcoming? You can do nothing with rain offs, thats a given, but there should be no missed weekends due to poor fixture planning, missing riders etc, you have to at least "be seen" to be making an effort to keep the sport alive in people's eyes otherwise they forget you even exist? Something has to happen during the remainder of this season to keep the sport in the public eye, and, make it a viable proposition even for next year so we have to freshen things up now, change the team around a bit see what works, keep it interesting because if the remaining matches are just ridden for the sake of riding them with no real purpose attached this could be the end I mean, how much longer can you flog a dead horse? Swap the team around and give the lads free reign to ride as carefree as they like, we maybe cant win anything now but, we could enjoy ourselves a bit more?? J, if you can hear that you need to move position, your only one step away from turning round to see who it was!!
  21. Probably the most disappointing performance I've seen from the Comets at home all season, no inspiration from anywhere, thought at 29-31 we were as close as we were ever going to get and so it proved? No point going over old coal's we know where the problems are but have a manager completely incapable of sorting anything out, we've nothing to lose now and certainly nothing to gain from where we are so, why not just mix it up and see what happens, we can't be any worse but we certainly could be better? Pretty dismal crowd too and that has to be a major concern for the promotion and performances like this are not going to help improve thing's? Ipswich, very worthy winners, solid throughout and apart from King's blatant jump start in Ht1 deserved everything they got, determined, rode well, wanted it more than we did, four pts well earned, potential champion's........ possibly??
  22. Thank's for the explanation mate, I gave up following rules and regulations years ago to protect my sanity!! Dont think it would help us much anyway with our inconsistencies but certainly a tweak within the boundaries is more than available just to see what might happen, freshen us up a bit maybe? Couldn't agree more!!
  23. If I'm not mistaken Olga, your ht leaders have to be your top 3 in the averages going, best, next best and next best, as Campton doesn't have a better average than Proctor he cant be No3 same as he doesn't have a better average than Jorgensen so cant go to five? Best position for Campo would be four with Williamson going in at two, the problem we have are the misfiring reserves, we dont have anyone to cover poor team performers so we end up with potentially several weak heats relying on ht leaders to just.... win basically? Last I heard it was Jacko's call for riding order so, maybe drop him a line, see if that works!! As for the end of the season, if we run out of time for getting the fixtures done for the play offs, and miss out, even if we could qualify, you'll have several meaningless meetings to race that could have pushed us up the table to that possible top four position but counting toward absolutely nothing coz someone else got there first and we were too late for the party, who's going to watch those?
  24. Not that much really Spanner, when he's pulled back he generally comes last!! If he'd been around in the seventies he'd have been one of speedway,s best ever starters, cant get away with anything nowadays??
