Klindt, Hougaard, Mäkinen, Larsen N 63,74 Uusinta: Sundström, Jonasson 64,13 Crowd: 320 Klindt rode 61,64 in heat 15 which is faster than anyone since 2004 when Laukkanen did the track record on his GP bikes on a very soft track. Track was now good alltough a hole between turns 1 and 2 caused a lot of action. Jari rode well, he did what he could. The meeting was filmed by speedway.fi and a "real" TV camera and a 10 minute insert should air next wednesday I think here in Finland. I'll try and get it youtubed or something. The opening night of the meeting in the internet wont happen until July, because of some internet service provider limitations. I am hoping to get some of Jaris heats to the JMS website but we'll see about that. Good meeting, very hot day, clear winner, Gustavsson ruined his chances all by himself. Had the wrong setup for the first, then fell while second on the last lap and finally Jonasson let him win his last one but it wasn't enough.
  2. This is really sad, it's been a very difficult last month for the sport. Journalist's in Sweden are already saying racing should be stopped staightaway until airfences are sorted. Looking at this incident though would airfence have saved him? And Robin Johansson who's now paralyzed. I'm told he flew over the fence and hit a lightpost. Airfence? The Olsson incident can be seen in SVT's internet site, search yourself, I'm not linking it. Loads of bad luck at one short moment... Makes you think... EDIT: took the link away seconds after posting
  3. This is not looking good...This is saying (updated today) that he's in a life support machine and his heart and lungs are not working. He is in a coma and has life threatening injuries. It looks like they will do some kind of operation to ... ???
  4. All so true... In the last 6 weeks we've had Kryzaniak, Johansson, Stead, Matula and now Olsson. Before that we already got Loram...

Markku Autio, Suomi I'm hoping to someday do live updates, but this is not the meeting to start with. I'm there taking pictures and hopefully assisting with filming and even interviews. I've offered my services to a m8 who does it, havent received a reply yet. I'd say the first place to look for the results is the JMS website about 6 hours after the start. Pictures online sunday evening earliest (not taking any pressure )
  6. All the heats now online from Seinäjoki.

A few pictures here. 177 spectators present. On a sidenote, a bidding war was won by Kotkat for the services of Robert Eriksson. About a week before I heard that he would ride for Keittiöpiste, but instead turned up for Kotkat. Must have been pretty good (Finnish std) money... But surprisingly he did not win it for Seinäjoki. He only beat Aarnio (twice) and Palomäki+Reima. Disappointment for sure.
  8. Been a while since seen anything new on your website. Still doing the busines I gather... Didn't come this year because I havent got over yet from last years bill from Harry's. Be aware me and my new 30D are after your job! Q: Servo or focus..?
  9. Its here But looks worse here http://www.speedwayfoto.com/Bilder/showIma...0Sverige%2026/5
  10. Thats a pretty good reason to make the trip, but unfortunately it doen't seem like I'm coming/going. Looking forward to seeing the individual scores for the riders, Aarnio must have finished each of his heats. I think that would be the first for this season...
  11. Looks like there isn't going to be any... Inspeed.de has the German forum, and there's no news yet. Even tomaszporzl is asking if there's gonna be any, so I think we'll just have to wait.
  12. Kylmäkorpi not holding back then?? Coming back from an injury he had and riding in conditions you describe. I take that hailstone's mean "ice" falling from the sky.

    Finnish News

I heard that Ilkka Teromaa has a some sort of car business near Helsinki. Both he and his brother Pepe are doing well in life...
  14. Katajisto plans to stay in Finland this season. Palmi has a team place in Sweden for the 80 cc league but his name didn't appear in any of the results I just checked.
  15. Someone asked me about Kalle here earlier... They are just trying to ride as much as possible this season here in Finland. He has two bikes with the other one being brand new for this season. Varkaus has a great track to practise at, but I dont know how often they have practise sessions. Like Anders say's we need new names... We need riders who are gonna really make it, but we also need riders to make up the numbers, so to speak. Hopefully none of these riders in this years resultsheet's so far will be lost in the next five years.
  16. Kaupunki Cup results yesterday from Seinäjoki. The meeting at Lahti was postponed to a later date because of the weather. Katajisto, Lehtinen, Edberg, Koskela 64,59 35 spectators Another good result for Jari Mäkinen as he collected 17. This is the same track that he will return to in two weeks, when he faces the tough task of trying to qualify from the U19 EC qualifying round. I also heard that they've been doing something with the track, scraping of the material abit that they put in last autumn. Dont know what the track was like now but hopefully they will get it sorted.
  17. I have no idea, didn't hear anything. I have a feeling that they have a very strong culture of motorcycling and things related. I also found a forum with google the other day where they were talking about this meeting too, but cant remember it anymore.
  18. So I went to Tallinna to find a reason why longtrack is so big in Germany for example. Didn't find one and wont go tomorrow to Heinola where the same names are riding again. Size of the crowd was small, they must have been very disappointed about that. Best part of it all was to see and chat with Gerd Riss + Kröger & co. Thats now one thing less left on the "to-do" list.
  19. Read the rules and stick with them. Simple enough? Why bother with this speculation, since it's black and white in the rules. Only bit in the rules considered a laughing stock regarding this particular bit of it is the fact what happened in Austria in the U21 World's final. And it was the first...
  20. As it turned out the track at Kauhajoki pulled me down from the cloud's and returned to the real world. It looked great for the first set of heats, but the crushed granite that it's made of has not binded and holes appeared after heat 4. They had put salt and water in it, plenty, and it looked great and hard, but it just didn't hold up. The younger riders did still attack it pretty well, which led to some close calls. Katajisto is still riding pretty well, but he does look a bit dangerous. Especially on a track like this, but it's a good thing he has the confidence to do it. But when his first crash come's (and it is coming), I just hope it's not a big one and not caused by a crap track. Reima was the rider to show most effort with Palomäki collecting the points with a slightly less aggressive style. Eerikäinen fell on his own and hurt his knee a little and withdrew himself of the meeting. Mäkinen lifted between turns 3-4 and fell off but was OK. Hautamäki was pretty fast but was unable to win from gate 4 as Mäkinen and Reima both gated in front. Nobody won from gate 4. Next meeting for me is the Kauniskangas Open on the 2nd of June (70% certain) and then the U19 qualifier at Seinäjoki on the 9th of June. Finnish riders in it are Mäkinen, Lahti and Katajisto with Mustonen (17) and Autio (18) as the reserves. But I am making my last bash as s carefree student to Estonia on thursday to see Gerd Riss and co in the Alexeia2007 Longtrack meeting at the Tallinna hippodrome. Then hopefully after my medical check today is cleared I will start in my first "real" job next week after my studies finished 8 months ago.

EDIT: The track at Pori was packed so hard that the 12 Finnish U21 riders from the 16 riders present all were able to really ride and not just worry if the next rut would take them through the fence. I think the local people did very well in making the track as it was. I feel very encouraged by what I saw today, but I've heard that the track tomorrow at Kauhajoki is from the different end of the scale and I'll wait until monday evening until I'll start praising that Finnish speedway has been saved. I will say now that when Katajisto outgated Mäkinen and Benny Johansson and kept them behind him for three laps I was very surprised. As must have Johansson been also, since he made the move to pass him as a simple "This will just not go to the record books like this" burst from the outside in turn 2 on the last lap.
