  1. A very good idea in principle - raising money to acquire/develop speedway venues & something which has most probably been thought about on a number of previous occasions but maybe worth exploring further in this current climate. On a point of clarification, rather than a trust (that looks after something already created) the formation of a "society" (by definition a body organised to raise funds for projects relating to literature, science or charity) would be more appropriate, aka Nationwide Building society which is a foundation charity. The "Speedway Society" would be able to attract investors (members) to create the initial fund eventually supported by profits from the sale or operation of assets which in turn provides a return of interest/dividends to its members.
  2. There is a pool of willing talent available in the UK. The problem is the promoters are unwilling to turn on the conveyor belt for any length of time to get the talent sufficiently developed.
  3. To be exact. In the original novel folk were killed off “voluntary” in a sleepshop via a nice gas at 21. This was changed in the spin off film where the population were despatched via the carrousel at 30. Whichever age is adopted, both actions would see the removal of the majority of todays speedway supporter.
  4. In Logans run when a person reached the age of 21 they were willingly executed via a pleasure-inducing toxic gas. Guess speedway folk would recognise that as the aroma of burning Castrol R40
  5. Must have been an IT glitch when you looked cuz it’s still there now
  6. Not too much involved in actual "permissions" being required as the buildings are not listed & BE own the property. They will need to follow strict laws regarding the demolishing of buildings containing asbestos and the subsequent disposal of. None of this will be news to Brandon Estates. The cost of completely clearing the site ready for "new build" would be circa £million which of course they would need to do at some time or another, but there isn't the need to do it now so they will sit on their cash. Site security would still be a requirement for BE to "remain" compliant with the RBC order to prevent temporary homes being set up on the site. Bottom line is - expect to see nothing change on-site except most probably better site security.
  7. Isn’t he already a member of “The Club” by being owner/promoter of Sheffield?
  8. Unless Covid or similar bites again there’s very little chance of the Leicester promotion going from profit to loss next year.
  9. The lux levels projected by the current lights are too low for TV coverage once the sun begins to set. The improved lighting will enable more flexibility in planning for Lions fixtures to be considered throughout the season rather than being limited to the short period of weeks when maximum daylight hours prevail.
  10. Agreed. Unfortunately two wrongs don’t make a right.
  11. Economically, a four month regular season wouldn’t be sufficient.
  12. Are you saying current engines rev quicker higher than the electric equivalent which would/could cause problems by the electric motors not being powerful enough to cut through/move grippy surfaces?
  13. An idea nearly as ridiculous as the plan to hold the meeting at Kings Lynn.
  14. Clearly an experiment for a new format for next years play -offs. Idea is to give teams a chance of beating the club that scored most points during the regular season. (Some would call that team “the league winners”) Under the new format the team that finishes the season with most points gets to choose their semi-final opponent. Then should they overcome this hurdle, they will ride the first leg v the winners of the other semi final at their place before holding the second leg on a neutral track. Of course this is only a joke as any sport that wishes to be taken seriously & considered professional would never propose such a ludicrous scenario. - or would they?
  15. Rain forecast for next 6 days Surely very unlikely the meeting will go ahead anytime soon
  16. True. But remember, Leicesters track curator is currently on sick leave having been taken ill with severe chest pains which saw him hospitalised before the first leg at Poole.
  17. Of course, you being a Poole supporter plays no part with you agreeing to such a proposal.
  18. 23.55 meeting finished. Got to be a record for latest finish of a speedway meeting ? And another example of atrocious organisation in the world of British Speedway.
  19. Selling tickets for an event that’s knowingly not going to happen is at the least “immoral” & most probably “illegal” but being speedway I’ll settle for “incompetence”. Not a lot I can do other than decide not to buy the 6 season tickets we intended to do for next year. They just don’t deserve that kind of support.
  20. What time was the meeting called off? we brought tickets online @ 4.30pm. There has been absolutely no rain in Leicester today so it’s very hard to imagine that the track has been anything but unfit the whole day. A total disregard for the paying public.
  21. The burgers served inside stadium are ok - chips ok too. That’s about yer lot
  22. If that does become case then usually the admission fee is higher than normal prices so will be “interesting “ to see how that affects folk who have brought tickets for todays meeting online.
  23. And so long as the weather doesn't interfere, you'll see some good racing from many of the riders involved - Great to see Doyley back at BP!
  24. Not happening. - According to the rider that is. But what does he know?
