  1. Scunny didn't have Ellis to send as he was always going to be in France (where he lives) at a meeting already booked before he signed for Scunny. Leicester cant send the twins to Kent because they are required by their first team. Eastbourne riders were not being paid and decided what would and would not happen at Leicester. Speedway UK - Too many teams, not enough riders, and now not enough days in the week!
  2. Lions have no choice but to race tonight (Tuesday) because they need to establish who will be racing at Poole tomorrow (Wednesday). Crowd possibly will be lower than normal although it will not affect gate receipts because they were created on Saturday. If people choose not to go tonight because of what happened on Saturday then, as they have already paid their money it looks a little bit like they are cutting their nose off to spite their face. That said they will be able to go on Saturday for the second leg FOC when crowds and revenues will more than probably be lower than if the meeting was run on Friday.
  3. Edinburgh v Glasgow. is the only other fixture taking place on Friday - so are you suggesting lack of rider availability for guesting purposes? Although better still: It would be ironic if the reason the fixture at Leicester couldn't take place is because riders from Poole and/or Leicester were guesting for Edinburgh or Glasgow.
  4. Could somebody from (or genuinely close to) the promotion take the time to provide an explanation behind the apparent barmy idea of holding the second leg on Saturday instead of Friday. The Lions website does say “the second leg has been provisionally set for Saturday” so there is time to reconsider the chosen day and change the meeting to Friday and use tonight’s meeting to inform people accordingly. Alternatively, they could stick to their guns and lose out on attendance due to SON & LCFC v Man U & of course folk travelling from Poole to Manchester. But, the promoters may have a very good reason for holding the meeting on Saturday hence the question What is it?
  5. 4th option: Have semi finals between Poole Glasgow, Leicester and Edinburgh - as the last two convincingly won their respective first legs by scores which will not be overturned in the eventually run second legs. so instead of wasting time running dead rubbers move on and use those days for meaningful semi finals.
  6. Thats the point. The majority do enjoy the whole experience hence why so many go year on year. strong indication is that Discovery will freshen up the total show at all venues which should make Cardiff even more of a must see meeting. looking ahead, maybe Tottenham could be a venue for London as they seem to have plans on multi sport events.
  7. 6 adults out too. the promotion needs to rethink its pricing model. Additional cost to run a NDL fixture as a double header would be recouped by £3.00 on the normal price. promoters clearly attempting to profiteer from regular supporters - very disappointing indeed.
  8. Is there a rule which, on the grounds of safety prohibits track lighting stanchions being positions as close to the safety fence as those shown in the picture?
  9. This is a great suggestion. What sort of attendance could be reasonably expected?
  10. Are NORA motorsport affiliated to the FIM for speedway?
  11. Will the lights be allowed to remain in their current position or will they need to be moved to comply with health regulations?
  12. It’s pretty clear that the gap between the first & second tier of British speedway is as close as it has ever been. And to state the blindingly obvious this is hardly surprising given the number of riders who ride in both leagues. For some time pure economics have dictated the sport needs clear differentiation between professional, semi professional & amateur yet those in charge have thus far failed to act accordingly. British speedway simply cannot afford the GP type/level of rider & frankly it’s not important enough for that to be anything to be concerned about. The far more reaching & relevant questions are, what can uk speedway afford and how many riders would be available to support a three tier system? Although not using an exact science, judging by the numbers & caliber of riders currently racing in the UK it looks like 8 teams could run professionally offering a minimum of two meetings per week 6teams operating on a semi professional basis on one or two meetings per week. the assumption being no doubling up/down except where a pro team needs a guest to cover for injury which would come from the semi pro ranks. Similarly this would apply to amateurs coming into semi pro teams. Whilst this basic restart would fundamentally address the current rider availability & economical viability given that such changes would impact on most current thinking by today’s promoters it’s nigh on certain the only thing that will change next season will be the team points limits & thereby ensuring the disease eating away at British speedway continues unabated. - scandalous!!
  13. Looking at Google maps the grandstand looks like it's on Aldridge Road (A453) & the main car park entrance is on Walsall road (A34) so I'm presuming, park behind grandstand and walk around to the entrance? Here's hoping for a good sized crowd . Expecting Lions to win but an entertaining meeting is what the Birmingham supporters and promoters to look to achieve.
  14. Thanks for the heads up. Most stadiums put aside some space for bikes and I was hoping this was the case at Birmingham.
  15. Looking to come over to Birmingham for this meeting, most probably on a motorbike and wondering if parking is available at the stadium as I don't fancy the apparent alternatives of using a nearby shopping car park or road.
  16. LCFC T shirts celebrate winning 2021 FA cup. Tour T’s reflect current tour of band. unfortunately COVID wiped out the opportunity Lions had to cash in with Merch. Frankly doing something now would appear out of date from the off - unless of course the year was not actually included.
  17. Is ZK still in Australia or already in the UK. If he needs a work permit isn't it the case an applicant cant come into the country until the permit has been issued?
  18. The player receives all of the money which they pay tax on. So Stokes would have netted circa £800k.
  19. Absolutely. Ironic he’s a Lions asset. Any chance of a trade swapping him for Proctor? (I know, “Dream on”)
  20. The Stadium owners were not the Leicester promoters. The owners were strongly linked to Coventry speedway.
  21. There are zero issues with the twins - both have increased their averages as heat leaders in NDL (second stringers in 2019) and this is their first year in the championship where they are outscoring their allocated average to such an extent that if (say)the other 5 riders improved by the same percentage the Lions would be scoring close to 50 points every meeting. At the moment Bates and proctor are not riding as expected and clearly from comments made by the management and NM it is something that all concerned are aware of. However, first things first and give the riders a chance to get back into the groove after a long layoff from racing and deliver what is expected of them, especially at home. making any changes after three meetings (two away) is way too soon whilst three home meetings would be a better base to make longer term judgments if needed.
  22. What is the drop in attendance v normal times and is the numbers allowed less than the average attendance of 2019? looking at the crowd on TV it looked no different than recent years before Covid (was the bar/restaurant empty?) though didn't appear social distancing was being strictly followed. Maybe instead of using just the main stand the crowd could be spread across the back straight? Also maybe the riders could take a reduction in pay whilst the restrictions last / extended. Could be that Wolves have managed to survive these past few years and the Covid situation is the final straw/good excuse to finally call it a day.
