Kent King vs Plymouth Gladiators.
Sings4Speedway replied to teaboy279's topic in National League Speedway
No doubt that a fit and race sharp Gilkes returning will make the Kings a much bigger force (at least for the month he spends at reserve) but as ever once he moves into the team his threat will be nullified a bit like the Thompsons / Palin so its down to who fills the positions. Kent are likely to see Spooner at reserve and he could be even more dangerous there whereas Leicester with Ryan Mac & the ever absent Halder not so much. Are there any update on Gilkes likely return date? Obviously with a promising career it would be foolish to rush back but there must come a cut off point when he will choose to sit out the remainder of the year and maintain his 2.00 average plus im sure there is a signing deadline in July but of course that could have secretly changed? -
Doh! Bit to early for me clearly.

im now starting to feel the pressure with limited days left. With roughly 11 years left, pair of trainers lasting circa 6 months that's less than 22 pairs left in my existence time....got to choose wisely -
Kent King vs Plymouth Gladiators.
Sings4Speedway replied to teaboy279's topic in National League Speedway
Who was expecting Adam Sheppard to be on a paid max after his first 3 rides? Whilst the win was secured there must be a few alarm bells ringing at Kent? The pre season favourites do look like there is a tendency to self destruct a little. Spooner obviously rusty, Jenkins & Ledwith brilliant but inconsistent and Kemp yet to set his season on fire. Fortunately the mature beyond his years Rowe held things together. By most debut season Ablitt is having a decent one but with much promise he is being eclipsed by the others stepping into the league and with the Gladiators reserve pairing not being one of the leagues strongest there are signs of weakness in the once dominant Kings side. -
David Wallinger Ludicrous situation.

Fair point although Baseby "retired" due to lack of team place/high average and Hampshire "took a break/got the hump" for the same reason. Fact is Wally couldn't hold down his team place for a full season yet again and has to pay the price just like any other rider. -
Not sure that the NL fours has priority over CL so you may be stuck with Danny but do also get Max which is a huge bonus especially after his 18 point Max last night.

Agreed not exactly the future of the sport. Them's the rules and that's the way it is however shock horror there is one moaner so in the interests of fairness im just off to start threads about Tom Wooley, Dan Greenwood, Mark Baseby, Paul Hurry, Taylor Hampshire, Luke Bowen, Tony Atkin, Rob Suttleworth, Ben Hopwood & Adam Roynon who are all in the same boat and need somebody to moan on their behalfs also. -

Feel your pain. I have a couple of green t-shirts. Fine across the cooler months but last summer tried to combine with shorts and a no go. Looks terrible with denim and my grey cotton shorts were too smart for them.....who'd be a man. Very handy thread this though i must agree -

I have to admit that sambas are creeping further and further up the list. Does have to be adidas whatever. Trying to keep them nice and multi purpose as it will be a with jeans and with shorts daily go to shoe. -

Old enough to know better but young enough not to care lol argh hadn't considered the suede element but feeling non leather might be a wise move throughout the summer to limit hot feet. -

Ive been looking for the perfect thread for a while to raise this and i think this is finally the one......new trainers should i go classic white with summer approaching or mix it up and go for a red/burgundy? -
Whilst there have been obvious issues with dust during the season its been fairly clear for the past year or two that the Plymouth track needed an upgrade. However to attempt it mid season was a bold move and only best attempted by very competent track crews and even then it can go wrong (Plymouth are not the first or last to make a mess of it). However i was a little shocked to see the Promotion calling riders out with comments of wrong colour shale for them, too grippy and no passion. There is an air of desperation about Plymouth this year and the harder they force things the worse things seem to become.

Best Wishes to Sam Norris and a very speedy recovery.

Best wishes to Sam & Family. Times like these where the only results that matter are his speedy recovery. -
Believe just dropped to strengthen up the team. Not sure where that leaves him in terms of guesting in the Champs as there was a case that you had to be in a 1-7 or will he get away with being an unattached 2 pointer?

Agreed and could add several more to that list. The thing i am enjoying this year with the Colts is the riders are good enough not just young enough. There has been a brief obsession in recent years to include any rider who shows a tiny bit of promise and hope for the best, this season the riders deserve the places on merit for the most part.
