  1. Now that would raise a selection of questions, certainly about the strength of rider/club contracts, worth of the paper they are written on and the glove boxes they are stored in (sorry Laurence). A rider signs and is declared in that teams 1-7, if the team re-declares with the rider not within the 1-7 does that mean they have invalidated the "contract"? (obvious exception being clear 28 day injury replacements) if it is not the case and a club can remove a rider from their 1-7 but still have a say over where they ride then is that in the best interests of the sport?
  2. Oh yes loved that piece on Kelly, never ever heard of fork bands snapping and causing the bike to lift rather than nose dive (the bands still fully in place in pictures ive seen). Leek i can understand as he is a bit of a wrecking ball but a dislocated shoulder can be a nightmare injury for a speedway rider so wouldn't wish that on anyone.
  3. Would like to think not or there is serious issues. Obviously had to be done as Clouting will inherit an average over 2.00 soon (his last 4 matches give him 2.28) if the same criteria applies as it did to Davies? Im just jesting that a team like Leicester could theoretically swoop in and lure Gilkes away with a similar deal and weekend race day....
  4. Unfortunately its meetings like yesterday that keep me away from West Row these days (don't worry i know im not missed) but it is a shame as i know on a good day the racing can be excellent. Certainly unusual for any track to have so many fallers in the first 5 heats and even the Mildenhall website describes it as "a little difficult". However past is past and i wish the injured riders a speedy return/recovery.
  5. Slightly surprised there isn't a touch more enthusiasm towards Kennett signing. He was one of the few Championship riders who would come and regularly lower the colours of Ipswich hero Danny King, he has comparable Championship averages to the prodigal son (both home and away) and has formed a good partnership with Richard Lawson at Eastbourne so could form a very potent 1&2. As for Bomber just seen that his actual 2019 average is 4.92. I hope he comes round after the next home meeting and gives every paying Ipswich fan a tenner back as he has been ripping them off all season.
  6. Mostly you would suspect unless someone steps in and offers Gilkes a mega bucks deal to jump ship? He is now officially the most in demand unattached 2.00er
  7. Likewise i would be staggered if this goes ahead. As i suspected its a wise decision to partner Palin with a more experienced rider and Mildenhall have managed to land a couple of reasonable unattached riders. I hope this one is on or off early to avoid wasted journeys.
  8. Must be thinking that Jolly, Vasey & co will be doing their biggest rain dances ahead of this one? With Jason Edwards already unavailable the notoriously unpredictable West Row track put three of the Fen Tigers on the injury list yesterday meaning Mildenhall head North with only Ayres to offer any opposition and spoil what could be a selection of home maximums. Mildenhall probably also hold the record of the worst reserve pairing ever tracked in the NL but chances are tonight's guests will better that.
  9. Are you sure you are at Speedway for other motives? Im sure you were after the details of another away supporter and now the couple and her daughter? Could be misinterpreting it but not coming across in the best light Lenny.
  10. Bang on. You will see unattached riders towards the end of the season are very hard to come by (if they have any sense). Not unusual for a rider to score 2 points from 3 rides with a little fortune, do that 4 times and presto and average of 2.67 and nicely frozen out. It was a crazy idea in the winter and now that the holes in the barely considered idea are becoming apparent its an even crazier idea now.
  11. Quite a gamble for Eastbourne though especially with the tail of the team. you have to think that if it was a higher respected opposition or a KOC match then a guest would have been used? What would the long term financial implications be of another home defeat?
  12. Im assuming the "My" is actually a snapshot of meetings producing an average from solely that period? If so could it not be titled Top 20 riders averages between date X and Y ?
  13. Even if his Nat Trophy scores have been included (which is the only way i can see this remotely making sense) why haven't the averages for every other rider who competed in that competition been calculated? Im please the lad has got team place but not if its by breaking the rules.
  14. I think all the budget when on the winners T-shirts and banner......blooming good job they didn't slip up.
  15. Hats off to the Colts a hugely tipped and backed rider and massive swing in momentum towards the Manchester Club. All about timing still though and could yet see a weaker tail come play off time....but equally could see Danny Phillips at 7 if the others keep rapidly improving .
  16. Aussie with a passport though? Surely Champ average doubled wouldn't fit though?
  17. Certainly look in with a shout. I think the Colts like he Leicester Cubs will suffer when the reserves move up as those filling the positions are not as strong all rounders. For that reason i think Kent are still the team to beat but the KOC should be interesting between the two sides .
  18. Would he fit without a double change as can't see Stoneman or Wilson making way. Campos & Extance out for Atkins + 3 pointer in?
  19. Problem is with the way the fixtures are spread out there are only 3 Colts fixtures between now and 19th July. Experienced riders or those with a decent schooling of the basics will be able to keep sharp during that time, obviously some have other team places and others will hit the practice tracks. However if Woodhull continues to struggle at the tail and with no sign of the pie Man returning any time soon the Colts could finally start to look a little vulnerable.
  20. Yep Palin rewarded after his mega start to the year. Rathbone moves up too so potentially the reserves now become 1&2? Woodhull ships 1.8 off his starting figure and drops to reserve along with the non riding Bowen. Palin limited to 5 rides and guest reserve certainly weakens the Colts but not by a lot.
  21. I think Foamy would of got it eventually. Its worked out best for all parties as Oystercard had to move on & Redcar have a home track expert. Providing there is a local Mountfield hopefully he can also get his lawnmowers serviced he may even get a point or two on the road.
  22. Spot on there. Darned if i know maybe the rules have been thrown out the window and the National Trophy outings have been counted also as he got a couple of reasonable scores against Mildenhall in that.
  23. Not sure of the numbers but unattached riders also gain averages after 4 meetings have been completed so i suspect Sheldon might have sneaked it over 2.00 and be allowed to sign up? Hopefully that is the case and not that Cradley have dropped a second clanger (the first being including Whitmore in the first place). Fair play to Davies who put the miles in to put himself in the window and has to be an improvement on Whitmore who has been dreadful yet again this year.
  24. In all fairness to Howarth i very much doubt he wanted to head out without gloves on and was most likely harassed by his team management to get his butt out on track. They took a chance and they failed simple as that. I have to admit its the first time i have heard of gloves being missing although i do know a rider must keep his crash helmet on even when pushing home for a point, goggles are a grey area as not sure they are required? Technically a fall face helmet could be used providing it has the correct certification? Nice to know that not all referees are completely blind though so credit where its due and no nasty injuries occurred either.
