  1. S/MDL is not a place for wobblers, its a place for riders who are honing their skills to get themselves to NL standard. Wobblers should be running in amateur meetings until they are development league standard (i agree there are a few that shouldn't be in there) but there are also plenty of talented and dedicated lads in those leagues and who would appreciate a little more support as they may become one of the many to graduate from them and prosper in league speedway.
  2. Looks a decent side and in fact despite the lower points limit looks better than last years. Providing Woodhull is still interested he should improve, Palin will likely be another Edwards style rider (namely great debut year but overshadowed by a few others). Verdict is still out on Rathbone as he has A1 equipment and is quick out front but is he quick enough and can he pass?. Otherwise providing there re not too many fixture clashes with Flint & Bickley it looks a potential top 4 side.
  3. Craig had plenty of horsepower in Poland and spent plenty with the big tuners who knew what they were doing. Lack of technique/setup technique cost him out there. Certainly an international rider but in reality an international also ran. The SEC would benefit him if he can put in decent showings in that company.
  4. Perhaps if you are so much in favour of progress and the building of 2100 houses all over a much loved and supported speedway venue you could pop along and volunteer to be part of the footings.
  5. I assume Perry is on the 4+ list as well ? Going to make things interesting in 2020 if the rule stays the same and all those doubling up this year do alright for a period of time.
  6. Its nothing against Jamie its just that the whole 2 pointer rules have been brought in but without any clarity. There is allegedly a rule update to be released in Jan, why? why can the rules not be published when they were decided at the AGM......or were there a load of oversights that need clearing up.
  7. Any side who secured the services of Richard Andrews for the upcoming season should be very happy. Quick question time, Adam Sheppard gets a 2.01 average having previously been declared in a 1-7? Jamie Bursill was also in the IOW 1-7 so surely gets a 2.01 average too?
  8. Any ideas of the spec of the gm nx? apart from looking cool what are the advantages of this over the current crop of gm's.
  9. Leek is an odd one, had a couple of years at NL now and still not upped his 3.00 average despite having a home track advantage BUT i certainly cannot fault his effort due to the pure amount of travelling every week. Closer to home may suit him but still feel he has quite a way to go in approach and setup but maybe a change will do him good.
  10. Top signing, really proved he can score on big tracks too last season and creates a solid scoring platform for the Warriors.
  11. its tricky because up and down the country there are the loads of amateurs and development riders who do it for absolutely zero financial reward. Riding NL should be seen and treated as a subsidised hobby, the chance to do something you really enjoy with some funds coming back in. All the non league riders have to pay for everything themselves, still take time off work to travel up and down the country on terrible days and are not ever guaranteed a ride. If NL went purely amateur or £10 a point max the standard would drop a bit briefly as the current crop stepped aside but it would soon pick up again and become far more about actual rider ability rather than who has the deepest pockets.
  12. I still feel Sam is a little too reckless for my personal liking but his bravery brings points. Id be far more excited about the signing of Brooks, closer to home, excellent assistance and mega potential. Still think he would suit a bigger track better but maybe that is why he should be at smaller circuits to develop.
  13. Have done just that and has shed some much needed light on the situation, also very refreshing to see & hear the honest workings and thought processes to team building.
  14. Strong number one in the current league and making the Cubs look more of a force to be afraid of. Shame the 2 x 2 pointer rule exists, i fear this side could run with 3 or 4 and still make the play offs.
  15. Very good signing this season on his average. Newman needs a little injury free run and should finally kick on to the level many believe he is capable of. Certainly knows what its like to be in winning sides which will add to the team and a signature that i feel many teams would be happy with.
  16. Doh! Can see why Atkins would have wanted to keep travelling down for him/his family but really feel NL sharpness is what he will need to make it at the next level this season. No doubting the talent is there, the funding is there so just needs a little good fortune and could go a long way in the sport.
  17. Largely agree although in Ayres case he still adds to the Nl plus would be competitive at a higher level had the averages not been fiddled with/2 point rules been brought in. Smith missing out is a loss but he over stretched himself last year and failed to cut it at either higher tier, not to say he couldn't in the future but sadly speedway is as much about timing as it is about ability.
  18. I literally couldn't agree more. What really grinds my gears is the number of riders who hang around for years, making little improvement and moaning how speedway treats them whilst the actual development league riders & organisers are treated like dirt. Even that wouldn't be so bad but i know better heat leaders at not the most renowned high paying club was giving £35 a point, tyre and fuel for home meetings.
  19. Not going to disagree there, which is why the rules need to be introduced before the season not after. Averages should have been set for 2020 already, definitely wrong that riders who succeeded get squeezed out and riders who sat a year out now appear attractive signings. I think in the short term the lower limit will appear to produce a selection of competitive teams across the board and slightly long term be a disaster that needs scrapping but will then be too late.
  20. Spot on. A new track for Lakeside would be a benefit to all of the Speedway community not just the fans of the Hammers. Although i wouldn't be put off as Gustix is hardly the voice of the Lakeside fan base.
  21. Would count as withholding services surely? 28 day ban (which should include Poland too), no facility and might as well be sacked as most fans would turn their back on them anyway.
  22. There will always be riders who step down during the season as they find the going to tough, i suspect Chessell will be early favourite to be first.
  23. IF Tom isn't at Brum this season the only reason i can think of is that he feels he has got the best out of himself on the track and wants to master somewhere else. He opted for P'boro the past couple of seasons (not a track that suited him) because he wanted to improve on all tracks and its paying off. Riders who want to be track specialists stay still, riders who want to dominate on all tracks move around,
  24. IF Brum have failed to secure the services of Tom Bacon this season i fear for them unless he asked for a move away (which feels unlikely). Fans will not take kindly to one of their own not being included especially one destined for the very top.
