Think you are right. Eastbourne at home on a good day can cause a lot of damage so i would think Brum will go for Belle Vue/Cradley. A lot will swing on who Birmingham get as guest at number 1? Davey or Wilson look most likely although if the Colts don't make the play offs they can have Bewley!

Kent V Cradley 05/09/2016 6.30pm
Sings4Speedway replied to DragonsDen's topic in National League Speedway
Yeah im very disappointed with this line up but keeping fingers crossed a few have a good night to keep it interesting. Few riders not that popular at Kent might add some interest? Morris riding for Wolverhampton i assume but where is Clegg? -
Kent V Cradley 05/09/2016 6.30pm
Sings4Speedway replied to DragonsDen's topic in National League Speedway
No mention of Morley on the Kent site? Cradley Bradley Andrews, Richard Andrews, Ben Basford, Luke Chessell, Nathan Greaves, Luke Harris, Rider Replacement for James Purchase Hope he is there though as i see little resistance from a Cradley side without their top 2. -
Mildenhall Vs Eastbourne 4th September
Sings4Speedway replied to Speedway28's topic in National League Speedway
Given up on making trips to Mildenhall this season. Inconsistent tracks, drawn out meetings & far to many injuries occurring there. If Halsey who is in top form at present fell three times on home soil there must have been something wrong. I will be chuckling a plenty when Jenkins signs elsewhere over the winter after being left out to keep his average down -
Danyon is definitely one of this seasons big hits & Brum have plenty of them. Below is a list of riders who regularly rode in the MDL over the previous 2 seasons. Name Start Ave Current Ave Hume 3.79 7.05 Bacon 4.42 7.83 JPB 3.00 6.71 Thomas 3.00 5.73 Halder 3.00 4.24 Kinsley 5.13 6.56 Bailey 6.02 8.48 Totals 28.36 40.04 As a side note 40.04 is a higher team average than Buxton, Cov, IOW, Rye & Stoke (yes most of the biggest improvers always come at reserve / 2nd string but all of the above have been mixing it / beating heat leaders this season) Just goes to prove that the riders are out there if they are given a decent chance and British speedway isn't in such a bad way!
-
Quite right that it should have been picked up sooner by both the club/manager & the scb however its very petty for teams to object. What was Goviers average going to be in September? There are some shocking holes in the club statement but thats another story......

"They even had one young lady delivering leaflets on horseback !!" Lady Godiva style advertising? No wonder the crowds are improving! -
Bomber 6 Year Silencer Trouble
Sings4Speedway replied to dazzafl's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I think the article just proves a very naive approach. The change of almost anything on a speedway bike requires an amendment to setup. Different engines have different characteristics, carburetors the same and exhausts would be no different. Its been apparent to many for years that the issues Bomber has been facing are setup related but it has taken 6+ years for the man himself to realise. He doesn't need to change his riding style but he does need to experiment and find a solution to his current situation, sadly though that may take a large amount of expense which may not be available to him? -
Isle Of Wight: V Birmingham Tues 23rd Aug

If you get the chance its worth viewing from a different perspective. Certainly gives a different appreciation of speed, the minor tweaks and twitches of each rider that is often missed from the outside and of course the riders eyes as wide as saucers. -
Impressed with Tom Brennan last night. No points but good style and not far off the pace. There will be plenty of better days to come for him & plenty of time to achieve them.
-
I fully understand the point of reducing tuning costs, engine changes etc but i think its a backward action. Surely the simplest answer is pay the riders less? Even if EL riders average £200 per point is that much required? What about a cut to £150 for example? If a rider has less disposable income they have 2 options, either locate more outside sponsorship off their own back or most likely use cheaper tuners, less expensive parts etc. There will of course be some fall out with riders stating "im not riding for less than £XXX" but there will be plenty of riders who will. There will also be plenty of the initially opposed riders picking up the phone and asking for places in January when they haven't been signed anywhere. I reckon most fans would rather see a rider who wants to ride for a club whatever the pay than a rider who rides for whatever club because of what they pay?

Plymouth Vs Rye House 19/08/2016 @ 1915
Sings4Speedway replied to pitgate52's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
With Ed's admission that he wants to do some longtrack rides next year i can't see a weekend track being very suitable anyway. Could easily see him at Ipswich in the PL next season along with lakeside. If anything i suspect the doubling up rules will be relaxed to allow Nicholls, Harris etc to do both British tiers..... -
About time Layne lived up to his early potential. Need to make strides at getting these signed up for next season early and perhaps not let their averages get to high? Think some other teams will be sniffing around Stoneman based on the early performances.
-
Is there any evidence that the GTR engines have been able to deliver the predicted performance with the reduced service intervals? As that is their biggest (only) selling point some actual substantiated data would be nice.
-
From early showings the addition of Stoneman & Cuppit make IOW a much different animal. Even if the Rye House dominate as expected i think the lower order will prove costly once again.
-
JPB / Smith then Bebee/Jenkins & now Whitmore/Hampshire lowered 3 times in a season isnt bad going. Long may the MDL continue & hopefully expand and prosper. British speedway would be in a serious mess without it.
-
With Whitmore & Hampshire starting at reserve tonight does this create the youngest reserve pairing ever?

Cradley V Birmingham Tpnl 15 August 2016
Sings4Speedway replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
In fairness all teams are built on the gamble that riders will improve its just more important when you build top heavy. Chessell has paid off but a returnee & and untried kiwi were always big risks and Kingston was an obvious disaster from the start. -
Not sure i would call 1 rider an injury problem after all its the nature of the sport and Zac hasn't been as dominant this year (although i do wish Waj a speedy recovery). Brum would do well to book either Williamson or Knight as guest and you will sail through to the final anyway.

Cradley V Birmingham Tpnl 15 August 2016
Sings4Speedway replied to Ommer Mon's topic in National League Speedway
I think Boxall would come in on 9.56 so even dropping Chessell (8.70) & Purchase (3.59) to sign Boxall & a 3 pointer would not free up enough points? Not really sure where a Cradley saviour will come from? Maybe there is a rider that features well in the 2nd half matches that catches the eye or a retired rider gamble? Unusually Cradley have been slow to react when it comes to making changes and it could hurt them badly come play off time. -
Belle Vue V Rye Raiders,, Frid 12th Aug
Sings4Speedway replied to waco's topic in National League Speedway
I would say that sadly Hunters injuries have been brought about due to being pushed to high in the team to early and over trying? Not sure that Danyon would have improved as much as he has if he had stayed at Rye either? All teams started with rookies this season but with the exception of Powell all had a reasonable level of speedway experience and he still did a reasonable amount of meetings last year. The other was Saul who struggled on the Island and was signed up by the Rockets. The plight of the bottom end is not down to the riders but the lack of contacts/knowledge by the promotion. -
I can see from a Brum point of view why they would be annoyed however at the time of cancellation the injuries looked far greater than they were. That said i would still rather see a decent contest rather than the high flying Birmingham team against a not fully fit Kent side (Ayres, Clifton & Thomas are clearly not anywhere near 100% fit). With both sides looking like guests will be required at no.1 it might swing on who makes the cleverest bookings?

Nl Pairs Kings Lynn 27/8/2016
Sings4Speedway replied to Sings4Speedway's topic in National League Speedway
I think Clegg & Morris might have something to say about that........ -
Phillips is only averaging 6.70 in the NL. Riders in form that are averaging higher include Halsey, Shuttleworth, Wood, Kinsley & Bacon who did very well at Plymouth recently and is certain to be included in a 1-7 if the scheme continues next year. Riders available with higher averages still and are available are Knight as previously mentioned and Chessell so to claim that there are no other potential options is a bit off especially if the scheme is to continue next year it might be worth making acquisitions now?
