  1. That means a minimum 9 days off for parker? Rotten luck for the tigers duo. Any word on layne? Rotten luck for Mildenhall especially considering they took the Belle Vue meeting on Friday at late notice and then have to visit Kent on Monday. Which of the Tiger cubs will be next to step up?
  2. Should be an entertaining meeting tonight. Knight, Armstrong & Mountain can all fly around Kings Lynn however i think the young stars strength in depth will shine through with the reserves cleaning up. Would be a good meeting for Layne to kick start his season as there is promise there but as yet he is struggling to deliver.
  3. What about Ippo putting in a MDL side next season? A chance to see youngsters progress for the supporters and for the club to snap up any talent early? Everyone is always searching for local riders developing but shamefully only 8 teams across 3 leagues are prepared to back them. There is no additional costs as all the staff, refs, first aid etc are already present..........
  4. Definitely not going to make any predictions for this one but it has the potential to be a cracker. Great to see both teams have all riders available. Im hoping for a close contest with no contentious decisions & a safe enjoyable night for all involved.
  5. He rode a cracking heat 1 where he gated and never looked like being caught by Bowen. Then it was a silly fall in his next running wide on bends 3/4 where he should have known better. Shanes tucked him and Dugard up a treat with a brilliant cut back on the first corner after they both tried to run him wide in his third ride and from memory he retired whilst at the back in heat 13. There are certainly signs that he could be a true number 1 but he drifted in an out of the meeting and Cockle looked the biggest threat to the Kent heat leaders. No offence to Dugard who rode well but "in my opinion" a better option for IOW would have been to retain Perks & bring in Aaron Baseby creating a strength in depth 1-5 rather than gamble on Compton..........
  6. Belle Vue are desperate to get the NL guinea pigs out before they run an EL meeting. Going to be very awkward if the NL lads get on with the meeting without any fuss and then the EL sides start grumbling...........
  7. Early in the meeting there were signs that IOW would put up a decent fight and to be fair the final score did not reflect the quality of racing on display. For the most part the Islanders had their gating gloves on and made Kent work for the points but as the meeting progressed a succession of 5-1's put the Kings clear. All the Kent side got stuck in barring Mason who looked like he had something better to do. For the Warriors Cockle gave a good account of himself, Baseby was solid as ever around Central Park & Dugard looked useful at 2. Sadly the rest were found wanting as the meeting went on. A meeting which to be fair had its fair share of questionable refereeing decisions. Great to see a good number of travelling Island supporters & fingers crossed i might be able to sneak over and catch a meeting at Smallbrook before the season is out.
  8. Well im never one to turn down half a shandy Not sure im that well informed but do have enough spare time (when the boss isnt looking) to poke around the internet and pick up various snippets. I appreciate all posters on this forum who can see both sides of the story even if their views differ to mine i enjoy a healthy debate / exchange of views........all with a healthy dose of humour as lifes to short to be serious
  9. Next up for Eastie is the looooooong trip top Buxton where you will find your old friend Ben Hopwood & chums. Lewis Austen is your stand in reserve for this one. On the Buxton website Jason Pipe is scared of your top 4 but is planning to take advantage of your "weak" tail and thinks he can take something from the match? Personally i think it will be comfy enough for the Eagles to take the away points but fear it could be a long drawn out meeting.....
  10. What must be most frustrating is that all bar Ritchings got a win or paid win last night so its not like they don't know how to do it. It seems to take Kerr a while to get the bikes setup each meeting but then rolls off the wins? Sadly it seems that as soon as Covatti has an off night so do the Witches? Not sure what the options are though?
  11. At a meeting tonight (Thursday 28/4) of Swale Council Planning Committee, permanent planning consent has been given to Kent Speedway meaning that the sport can now carry on indefinitely at the Sittingbourne Greyhound Stadium. Superb news that Kent can now carry on racing indefinitely. With the constant threat of tracks closing around the country this comes a huge relief & massive congratulations to all those involved in getting this signed off.
  12. Tricky one to call. If Payne was present i would go for the home win but all to race for now. I back Stokes top end over Belle Vue but the Colts probably have a stronger bottom 3. A stand out performance from any rider could swing it but im going for a rare away Stoke win.
  13. Plenty of naming options both comedic and sincere .......... maybe next year? Either way good on Buxton for the fund raising initiative and congratulations to the winner. As for the weekends meeting plenty of fighting talk from Pipe regarding the "weak" Eastbourne riders. Perhaps he is right as the D&P raceway has a record far causing a few falls as does Charley Powell, Luke Harris hates the place and Lewis Austen makes his NL debut off the back of limited experience.
  14. But he has only completed half as many laps as the others because he generally breaks down on lap 2
  15. The only difference between Mr Easters comments and the selection upon this forum who have debated if Adam Ellis should ride in the NL or not (apart from putting his name to his comments) is that he holds a position of responsibility within the league. If he wants Mildenhall to succeed then so be it and if they do it will be within the rules stated at the beginning of the season (the same rules that make Ellis eligible to ride in the NL). There may be rule changes next season "if" enough promoters back it but if not we will continue as we are. And as for how much the sponsorship was/is i think thats irrelevant, there wasn't a sponsor at the beginning of the year so even if it was £50 a team its better than nothing.
  16. For me whatever the comments were it takes a big man to apologise for voicing your opinions so i applaud you for that. In my mind i would much rather have a sponsor on board who is passionate about the sport and the goings on within it than one who solely benefits from the advertising. Keep at it Mr Easter better to have a voice and let people choose if they want to listen than have people wanting to listen and there being no voice.
  17. Theres a hint in there somewhere but im buggered if i can see it.
  18. The rider can compete in all 3 leagues however I cannot see Poole wanting him burnt out and with the Poole Peterborough links I think if Adam takes any PL place it will be there. Hard as it seems but matt ford calls the shots that effect even the NL
  19. Can't see Jack finishing the season at Cradley. Priorities have changed and he is now stopping himself and the club progressing. Someone will have to make the decision soon.
  20. Expected better scores from cupitt and kinsley. But otherwise as predicted. Basford sounded fast but a little wild? Track was probably different from normal. Can sam woods be a number 8 if he's not a flat 3 pointer?
  21. Copied from the Peterborough thread..... From what I got told after the meeting team changes will be happening and the name mentioned to me was Adam Ellis but club are unsure on costings as unlikely to be able to do all 3 leagues and would need to drop NL so they will need to make it worth his while as am sure he is on very good money at Eastbourne now. I understand there is an BSPA agreement that NL clubs release riders if they can get a PL place so have to wait and see. Another option that may become available is N Klindt who doesn't seem to be getting picked for Poland at the moment so if that continues he may consider PL again
  22. Peterborough vs Somerset thread. Latter pages.........
  23. Certainly not going to put the man down for wanting to give something back & nurture the future of British speedway. The age cap is a prudent idea and perhaps best to limit to those riding 500cc machines as that is where the majority of Tai's knowledge will lay? My concern is the word "cost" in the statement. If you want to give something the give it don't charge for it. Im not directing or implying that there is any profiteering going on but it would be lovely to read that the stadiums involved offer the use of facilities free of charge, Tai shares his wisdom free of charge & the riders benefit rather than pay for the privilege. Without knowing the full details there may not even be any costs........However all in all it sounds like a tremendous oppotunity for some and even if just a couple of riders benefit it can only be good for British speedway.
  24. Looks like Eastbourne's little book of contacts has run out as they are openly advertising for riders for the Buxton away match............sure the phone has been ringing non stop! And if the rumour's on the Peterborough thread are anything to go by the Eagles might soon have their wings clipped........
  25. As good as Adam is he is also there to be beaten and it will give riders who get one over on him (like Halsey yesterday) a nice confidence boost. Anyway big well done to Mildenhall on running Eastbourne close over the two legs and getting the home win. Form like that will see them have a decent season. I suspect that Luke Ruddick might be slightly nervous about getting his place back? For Eastbourne Knight seems to be really getting dialed in now and could be the season he delivers upon his potential. Reserves still seem to be the thorn in the side though. Powell is proving that his lack of Speedway experience is costly, Phillips in the wars again and now openly advertising for anyone who wants to do the away trip to Buxton............i mean seriously who would volunteer to go to Buxton!
