Fours Festival Weekend
Sings4Speedway replied to Sings4Speedway's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Perhaps but there is a large chance I will be nicely oiled by then and not care -
Just seen the announcement for the Fours weekend and ive got to admit im excited! 2 days of speedway at an excellent racers track, the main event and a 20 heat individual meeting plus overnight camping and live bands at the showground. Consider the dates in my diary and as an added bonus I will be definitely attending.

Isle Of Wight Wightlink Warriors 2016
Sings4Speedway replied to SpeedwayPortal's topic in National League Speedway
I think its a very good decision to try and get your team out for some competitive practice and all the home riders will benefit from the Vince Mapley Memorial individual (beautiful tribute btw) & the 4TT. It will also give a rough idea of potential attendances for the season as it will be mostly IOW fans attending each event barring a few hardened Exeter supporters and those just delighted to see Smallbrook back. -
As a technical question regarding the flooding of oil using the new fuel pump design. How much oil will be required in the engine? (The GM's already require a decent amount) I assume the oil will need to be disposed of after each meeting? It would be no good if the cost of servicing is reduced but the running costs increase.

Peterborough Panthers 2016

Doesn't everyone? Every team is built on the potential of riders upping their averages. If they do...success, If they drop... failure! -

Doh good point. But if Oystercard is rejuvenated, Porsing delivers on his potential and NBJ kicks on as I suspect I see a full house of 8+ averages for the heatleaders. -
I think home advantage might be enough to keep Rye of the bottom but all the riders will need to click especially without the guidance of Andrew Silver this year. If the Raiders & Rockets both struggle I fear the end could become much closer than most of us would like to think.
-
Agreed but only if you have the money in advance and know you are going every week. Its easier to find the money in weekly / monthly instalments than in one lump. Id say anything in excess of 200 is excellent. Some matches in the NL last year had less than that as a total crowd.
-
He is a great lad to talk too, very genuine and unassuming. There is a touch of the Jason Garrity's about his riding style turning the bike late & low but has always been a very fair rider whenever ive seen him. Has good links with Danny King & his mechanic and I think would prosper on a larger (larger riding style) track.

I think once dialled in Porsing will be a real revelation around P'Boro. It moves Ostergaard out of the No.1 jacket and he seems to prosper further down with less pressure. Busk Jakobsen is one of the signings of the season. Then you will always have one of Palm Toft, Lambert or Grondal as a joker reserve with the other two making up a solid engine room and Perry will be a strong draft rider at home. I like the look of this team (points limit aside) and think its got play offs written all over it. -
I personally thought that Hume would benefit from a move away so on a personal level good for him (as long as its NL) but it now makes releasing Bowtell an even bigger mistake. Not sure what Mrs BMR has been saying but we have all had our other halves run their mouths off on our behalf before!
-
If the rumours are true and Hume is the final rider it makes Brum look a very strong side indeed. 4 riders who will probably put 2 points each on their averages. If your heat leaders can hold their own and not miss too many meetings doubling up it looks a very potent side indeed.
-
True however unless my maths is wrong born 1941 & made his debut in 1970 aged 29. Not sure how much grasstrack he did but in modern times he would be considered ancient for a debutant yet look what he achieved.

And it happens again. I tire of promoters taking no responsibility for the riders they track and the riders they face. Im not saying any of Ryes signings are deliberately dangerous but a lack of experience increases the risk. With the continued obsession of chucking 16/17 year olds into the NL as soon as they get a bike are they helping their development or increasing the risk of them struggling, becoming disillusioned with the sport and walking away or worse getting injured. Its not that many years ago that riders would be sent away to get some experience and prove their determination whereas now they are welcomed with open arms.

Very talented on the grass when in the youth ranks but not seen much of him for a few years. I seem to remember there was money in the camp though so his equipment should be ok but very light on experience.
-
No offence to any team as I actually rate a couple of those listed lower and think it will be a very competitive league this year but taking everything into consideration im going; 1. Brum 2. Cradley 3. IOW 4. Belle Vue 5. Eastie 6. Coventry 7. Kent 8. Mildenhall 9. Buxton 10. Rye House 11. Kings Lynn 12. Stoke

British Youth Championship 2016
Sings4Speedway replied to Alan_Jones's topic in Youth Speedway and Development Leagues
What a nice variety of shapes and sizes of tracks. Plus a major coup of getting a round at the new Belle Vue stadium. Hats off to all those who organise the meetings and to each club who offer up a venue. -
Glad Holt has got his place and fully deserves it. Don't know much about Bewley but from his Scunthorpe results he sounds a decent rider. Looks like Belle Vue could have one of the stronger reserve pairings in the league this season along with a brand new track aiding home advantage. This side looks like pressing for a play off place to me.
-
Im all for a little pantomime be it Drury, Jolly and so on. Im not saying what he said was right just that a little drama adds something to the league, its no fun if everyone is friends. As I said for me a British passport is enough to race in the NL and I look forward to seeing the Spillers somewhere in the future (although Id rather it had been this season). That said it was raised at the AGM and voted upon so even if the outspoken Drury is the mouthpiece others chose to agree on the subject so it is not entirely fair for all the venom to be aimed at him.
-
Agreed however riders also need to learn commitment and team spirit that the squads provide. Teams to field a minimum of 2 squad members in each meeting? That allows guests to be used and offer the extra experience some require but still maintains the squad ethic?
-
If that's the case lets hope your new sponsor isn't Hooters or Oil & Pumps............
-
Looks good to me. I was hoping / expecting a couple more teams to be included but you cant have everything. The North / South split is certainly a good idea and will reduce travelling costs for riders who receive nothing financially in return. Looking forward to the clarity on the rules for this year (would be nice to see some kind of squad requirement) and for the season to begin. Ive always enjoyed the MDL and find it one of the most honest levels of Speedway so long may it continue & prosper.

If Lynn have moved race night I would be amazed if the deal wasn't already signed for a very decent number 1. Think its just a waiting game / let the suspense build for a while. What is the possibility of moving Rose to 6 and getting Simon Lambert in at 7? Might not be top dog but would do more than hold his own at home and pick up bits and pieces away.

7 Places Up For Grabs
Sings4Speedway replied to spin king's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
How so? I count Newc, P'boro, Rye & Redcar with one a piece? Plus the Edin brit reserve. -
Can't blame him for wanting away and finding himself a team place. Certainly not bitter but perhaps disappointed and more with Rye House than the actual rider. Im a big fan of serving an apprenticeship, gaining experience and earning a place over the gambling on riders because of their age. Its my opinion that there are several riders more deserving of a reserve spot than Locke but the promotion have taken the decision and that's that.
