  1. Agreed. If any rider young or old is likely to take offence / a knock to their confidence its best to keep clear of the forums altogether. They are here for debate & exchange of opinions. Any comment I make is based solely on my opinion at that moment in time and with information garnished from various sources.
  2. Its just a thinly veiled promotional thread for George Piper (the IOW no.8) who is happy to be a team player and is not pushing for a full place but is tipped to add over a point to his average? I get that he is reputedly talented but having never seen him cannot comment. I suspect he will get his chance during the season and then can be appraised accordingly. As a sub note I think some of the riders signed this year are shocking & some are brilliant either way I love the NL and cannot wait for the season to start.
  3. Perhaps but this is an adult league and the sport is cruel at all levels. I would never criticise a youth rider but if you step into the senior leagues you get treated like everyone else by me. I am full of admiration for the effort, time and money that riders and riders families especially at lower levels invest into the sport but it is done for their own benefits. If I was brutally honest I would say to any youngster do it if you enjoy it but beware it is a brutal sport full or underhand dealing and false PR. Your average will be attractive one day and unsignable the next. A team place is an opportunity but there is always somebody looking to replace you.
  4. Perhaps I was a little harsh but from what I have seen so far there is little to get excited about but as ever im happy to be proved wrong. I wasn't impressed when he rode at Kent and ive seen nothing of his Grasstrack work to get excited about. That said he must go around Rye House alright and if you can master that then he clearly has some ability. I look forward to the meeting at Kent and no doubt will go up to Rye a few times to see how the team is getting on.
  5. Playing devils advocate here but is anyone concerned about the team spirit? There are a lot of riders who want to be top dog in this side. Will everyone click and then prove a very dangerous unit or will there be in fighting and some harsh on track manoeuvres?
  6. Anybody know his full name? Dawid.......? I think I saw him at Eastbourne once and looked very lively. Would be nice to keep an eye on his results.
  7. Huge nail in the coffin of the Raiders season. Im very surprised Paul Hurry would publically associate himself with a rider of limited abilities. Also a dreadful shame for any rider who has actually put in time and effort trying to attain a place then sees it go to a rider who just wants to do Speedway because a few of his grasstrack mates are.
  8. That's not fair there was plenty of passing at Kent last season........just a pity is was mostly the away teams doing it!
  9. Decision made back in December like it was last year with race suits already measured and ordered. The pop along to the training school is just a money making exercise to exploit the hopes of some riders.
  10. Think Strudders said it was full place or at not at all this year? Brennan obvious talent so his time will come soon enough. Do teams actually need a number 8 this year? Is it enforced again this season? The role was pretty redundant last year.
  11. Exactly. Although most likely to be 3 engines, one for each bike and one spare that can be put in when another is being serviced and that is based on a rider doing one league only...... Plus who can service these engines? Gerhard only? How much would it cost to ship to him? How long would the turn around time be? Whilst the GM's may be far from perfect the monopoly looks certain to continue.
  12. Have to agree. I would say this starting line up looks stronger than the original 2015 squad. If all the riders can stay fir (fingers crossed) I see no reason why they shouldn't win most if not all matches at home and several on the road. If they do that a play off spot is a certainty and then it will come down to who is the form team at that time.
  13. Apart from the time he spent on a speedway bike travelling round with Paul Hurry trying to get a speedway place when he was 16. Difference between Wood and the Buxton new boy is that he had loads of experience on very similar machines and what to do when it goes wrong. Laying the bike down when someone has fallen in front of them is a skill / training element that has been sadly lost.
  14. Don't remember much of the 2014 encounter apart from the infamous 0-0 result in the reserves race. Yes the curfew is a curse as is the start time but id much rather have the curfew and speedway than none at all.
  15. Is the quality of racing / entertainment to do with the tracks of the gulf in difference between certain teams? There is never going to be much of a spectacle when Lakeside visit Kings Lynn whatever the track shape / surface.
  16. From a quick scan I can see 3 meetings that didn't get to ht15 this year. vs Eastbourne with the big delays due to the Mason injury, Cradley due to several heathen fallers & Harris injury and Rye House where everybody fell. Not bad really.
  17. How far the goalposts move is anyones guess. If it was me running the show I would reset all the riders back to a flat 3.00 after their first season as it would be a learning / experience year then let them gain an average on year 2. Obviously those who flourished in the first year would be most desirable and those who struggled may be omitted for a new rider. That way it allows riders 2 years to see if they can make it & 2 years for the next crop to emerge.
  18. All depends on your point of view. Personally I think the rule was brought in to aid the development of British riders (whatever age they may be) and give them a PL chance that many deserve but have often found hard to come by as they have been filled with either non progressing brits or foreign riders.
  19. Of course it will. If the meeting looks like it might be very one sided or boring I wouldn't bother going for £13 but I would for £10. That said I would most probably go to Rye House on the Sunday before to get my £10 speedway fix with the beautiful ignorance of the additional fuel costs.
  20. No question that Danny is a trier and has been through plenty of fences to prove it. However he is also made of solid stuff and doesn't make a fuss about being battered about. There are plenty more reserves that are a bit fragile and have been signed. Can 3 pointers from other teams be used as guests if a number 7 gets injured? Or does the replacement have to be unattached?
  21. What odds on Leicester being voted best track 2016? In all seriousness though delighted to hear the changes are taking place of for the benefit of the club and the sport as a whole. Will have to put the club back on my midlands tour map now!
  22. Question: which current Eastbourne rider has ridden at Perris? I reckon Hopwood? How comes Perrault is match race only? Are there restrictions on entry if you "don't have the balls"?
  23. Ive been harping on about this for ages but what clubs need to do is set out a defined pay structure when looking to sign riders and stick to it. e.g number ones £5, heat leaders £4, second strings £3 & reserves £2 (obviously not realistic figures but scalable depending on which league/team it is). Then as riders move up / don the pay in/decreases accordingly. Clubs then approach riders and say this is the deal are you interested? There may be several rejections at first but there will be plenty of riders ringing the clubs come January when they do not have a team place anywhere.
  24. Buxton sign an unknown who took up speedway in November? Although so did Bowtell & Hunter and they both did alright last year. Burton as a 3 pointer leaves the door open for Speight or another dual nationality Aussie with just over 5 points to play with.
