  1. In fairness of that list Greaves & Govier are confirmed elsewhere, Neale & Moggo taking a year out and Harris was a bit pants didn't improve as expected and Perks was a yoyo rider bouncing from heatleader to reserve and back again (although I think he will be fixed up somewhere). Could be a 5 & 4 or a 6 & 3 point combo if you want to run Purchase in the main team. You can have Verge if you like.
  2. If that's the rules the Kings Lynn and Mildenhall are going against them? Mildenhall only by a tiny bit. Still think Clifton is cheap on a 3.50 from what ive heard so not too panicked. However the list of 3 pointers with some experience / composure are limited now as most have been snapped up.
  3. I also thought that was odd from the press release. Is it Chris getting confused, have Kent already signed another 3 pointer or have the rules been changed but not announced?
  4. Im wondering if Eastbourne are going to try and set themselves a bigger challenge this year? Phillips & Verge @ 6&7? I get the feeling the next signing will be another surprise package.
  5. Agreed. Blackbird is one of the few riders smart enough to stay retired rather than make sporadic comebacks. Mear only wants to do one league so a lot will depend on how he fares with limited rides in the EL only.
  6. Im certain that Len is stubborn enough to try x3 3.00 riders again. Needs to different from last years dross though. As for Basford he was always heading elsewhere. Last year was just a chance to put himself in the shop window.
  7. Even on 4.5 he has to be worth the risk. Decent pedigree and knows what's involved. Like several of the returnee's he may need time to settle in the current era but should be a potent second string.
  8. I hope not. That would round off a very dangerous looking team. Im hoping you sign Chapman and Verge to keep it sporting for everyone else.
  9. I cant make my mind up about Brum. The reserves are decent and the top end solid but not spectacular. Waj & Perry turned in good performances last season but aren't head and shoulders above Carr/Greenwood, Morris/Clegg, Ayres/Shanes combos. The final middle order signing and 3rd heat leader will be crucial but top 4 certainly looks a strong possibility.
  10. Phillips needs to kick on this season but should do a solid job at least. I could see something like; 1. Wilson / Kyle Hughes 2. Burnett 3. Phillips 4. Tedham 5. Atkin 6. 3 pointer 7. 3 pointer Not done the maths regarding averages but would be a Stoke like team.
  11. Agreed. Kent need to look at getting Clifton in the number 7 jacket. Then like other teams they will have a trump card reserve. If he starts in the team and they sign another alongside Jack Thomas (depending who it is and given Lens iffy record) they could have the worst reserves in the league (again)
  12. I suspect you are right about Clifton. Im yet to be convinced about Couzins. Nice lad and was lumbered with a main team place for most of the season however like Danno he just doesn't seem to have that edge. Plus he also seemed to catch the Baseby travelling bug as the season went on.......
  13. Think Jack needs to get his life off track sorted then he will be back with a more relaxed style and hopefully the points will come again. Basford has requested a transfer which is hardly a shock as both reserve berths are already filled unless one was destined to start at 2? Not a huge loss. Plenty of effort to travel down every week but didn't really improve and seemed to struggle with maintaining / setting up his machinery for the changing Kent track?
  14. Basford as one of the reserves? Looks like he is heading either your way or to Cradley?
  15. Basford next for Cradley then? Kent website gives a very strong pointer of him joining either Cradley or Cov.
  16. I knew it was coming but still wish he was at Kent. Probably the most sought after rider given his potential and low average. Made rapid progress last season and won plenty of Ht 1's round Mildenhall. I think he will sit in the team nicely and push on to an average near 6. Even if he hits a bad spell then him and JPB will switch between the main body and reserve meaning you always have a potent reserve threat. Brum are lining up a lot stronger in depth this year and look dangerous.
  17. Apologies. Badly written on my part. I meant Armstrong & RTD confirmed as leaving and Payne rumoured to be following suit. Ben Wilson would be a good fit and a stand out number 1 in the NL.
  18. Whoops forgot about Campos signing. Not many teams will be starting with a 5 pointer at reserve. That said it will put a lot of pressure on their HL's. Something that Cradley & Brum need not worry about.
  19. Not sure id love him back but definitely a favourite amongst the majority of the crowd. Can only see him popping up at Kent or Rye IMO.
  20. Any team who signs Bacon will have a major trump card. JPB is clearly quality and Smith has loads of potential and couldn't have better backing. Blast am I talking up Brum? If Kings Lynn could sign Hume along with Cupitt that would be a pretty potent reserve pairing also.
  21. The Stoke exodus continues with RTD following Armstrong & Payne rumoured to be heading to Belle Vue. A few new faces may help the cause but who is left?
  22. Looks a very solid top 5 with Greenwood, Carr, Knuckey, Dwyer & RTD. Hts 13 & 15 should be particularly formidable. Two decent reserves (I suspect Halder will be one) and its got to be a play off spot team.
  23. You would be amazed what riders have said over the years to get out of riding for Buxton! A solid year for the Colts and fingers crossed good crowd turn out would be a result for Belle Vue. That said the early pictures of the track look awesome so could be a real home advantage to be had? With the MDL team and a northern position there are quite a selection of new riders to be selected. Not sure what the minimum team building limit is this year though?
  24. 50p says Tom Woolley is at Belle Vue this coming season.
  25. Im more than happy to be proven wrong (as many Birmingham fans will know) however I prefer riders who graduate to the NL to come through the development league ranks and serve a bit of an apprenticeship rather than the odd meeting against select opposition (with the exception of experienced & proven grass/long trackers). However that is just my personal opinion.
