  1. Why would any rider choose to pay for a race suit in team colours over their own (especially when they could be dropped at any time and render said suit equally redundant). Would you walk into a tailors and select a bright pink suit just because everyone said they would by one.....
  2. Personally think its long overdue that all tracks with armco barriers must have a polyfoam fence
  3. I would think on the bigger wider circuits Methanol power would be a distance ahead but on something smaller and more technical like Eastbourne the gap could be closer potentially less time lost on the corners and better torque off the bends with electric
  4. Would require a complete re-write of the rulebook to be allowed in. Maybe some demo races after a meeting could be arranged though?
  5. To be fair to the Colts teams of the past that has been the mantra but this years crop really does look a bit of a crock. Hodder was the surprise package for me last season and deserves another year but where is the remainder of the improvement coming from? I really don't see it from Hagon. Marson, Muff and Bowen are at their level, yes they might add a bit to their averages with the big home advantage but not enough to offset the poor away score. Smith is what he is, a NSS expert, top end NL but can't hack the step up and Pearson is just present for laps but how much benefit is their really to British speedway by giving a space to an Aussie over a Brit? The team will probably do what it did last year with plenty of home wins (but be pushed much harder) and get naff all away.
  6. Dugard, Coles, Watts, Spencer, Bowtell (don't know number 6)
  7. Might need 8....to be fair it wouldn't be the worst bit of rule manipulation this season anyways.
  8. Apologies id missed the Hodder signing. As a numbers game that stacks up perfectly, as a team on track it looks well beatable even at home.
  9. Not enough points left for the last rider. Been informed Muff is fixed up (just shocked its at Belle Vue) , Pearson looks odds on, leaving enough space for Hodder and a 3 pointer to complete the worst looking Belle Vue side for a good few years
  10. Thats a bit optimistic, i don't recall any riders being lapped last year (unless for fall/mistake) and thats counting top number 1's out with rookie reserves. From what i saw of Adam he isn't a top number 1 and i don't think he will put much more than a point or so on his average (still useful enough) but if you compare to other middle order riders on similar/higher averages Hagon, Woolley, Spooner etc he looks a good deal better.
  11. The big joke is the ignoring of the forth meeting, boughan didnt get that luxury and saw his average nearly double which must have had an impact on his bargaining power and hurts Leicesters team building capabilities
  12. Most other teams? Most teams have been built legit and a couple quite under the limit. Leicester have penalised themselves by taking on a 3.00 rider on nearly a 5. Mildy have stretched it with the use of Congreve its only the academy who have pushed the bar a long way.
  13. We can agreed to disagree on the available 3.00 riders who look better positioned to do a better job BUT Fellows could be turning up with a huge upgrade in machinery and fitness so happy as ever to be proved wrong. If McGurk and Kelly end up at reserve for Worky that could be a serious lack of fire power at the end of the season and if Spencer ends up at reserve (or heading for it) i could seeing him being dropped by Leicester before the averages change.
  14. Theres still speedway in Kent its just hosted at Iwade now instead of Central Park. NL bar has been raised this year and Sunday lunchtimes may appeal to some travellers as you can still be home at a reasonable hour.
  15. Not convinced that Fellows is even the pick of available 3 pointers but maybe some guidance and heavy machinery investment will assist that. Likely with this side that its 3 rides only at number 6 or might be fortunate that result is decided early and gets his last run out. With Killeen as the other reserve there is always a feeling he might not last the meeting and Fellows could be decisive as the lone reserve rider.
  16. If the Pearson rumour is true at 8.00? then it only leaves 9.46 for the last two riders KIngston and a 3.00?either way it creates a usual Belle Vue side of dominant at home and questionable on the road.
  17. Hard to look past Mildenhall and Oxford at present. I suspect Leicester will go a close 3rd. The rest will be scrapping out for the minor places although Worky could be the spoilers.
  18. No offence to Booth as i don't recall seeing him ride anywhere but with the raised limit only 3.00 riders that are being signed are those with proven NL pedigree. Even riders who have had a year or two will be at the weaker end this season
  19. CL standard doesn't necessarily need dropping but maybe capping top end places/averages could be an answer? How would NDL teams be able to operate and afford Nielsens, Kemps etc along with the existing heat leaders and second strings. Upping the standard to accommodate riders who have found their level in the CL would see the NL in the same mess as the CL is now, namely clogged up with double uppers/downers who are bumping their earnings from easier pickings. No doubting that the junior leagues needed proper backing from both the authorities and the host clubs. However rider numbers are down simply because the prospect of doing silly miles, for silly short track time (if indeed they get out at all) and for zero returns has quashed the enthusiasm of many a rider and volunteer.
  20. This is where the NDL has a problem as its doesn't know what it wants to be. Higher limit, "higher standard" or a Lower limit and be a conveyor belt pushing riders in, through and up into the next levels?. Unfortunately as the NDL is now governed heavily by higher powers and has few standalone teams to back their own corner it will continue to lurch to and fro with a succession of more radical changes rather than a long term plan of stability. The NDL has long been the saviour of British speedway and yet it is rarely treated that way.
  21. need to go bigger to accommodate the t!ts in charge.
  22. Torn on this one. One side of my brain says that champions decided by play offs, late season signings and potentially joker reserves is just daft so at least top two fighting it out makes it marginally closer to a "correct result" other side says that an 8 team league there will be teams cut adrift from the top two chase quickly and lose interest for both riders and supporters? Not sure what the best solution is? Team that finishes top is league champions and 2nd & 3rd race off for a place against the champs in the Coronation (insert alternative silly name here) Cup?.
  23. Only real surprise to me is that Josh hadn't been snapped up elsewhere, looks a bargain on his average and with excellent kit and behind the scenes help could put 2 points on his average this season (easily one)
  24. Easily on pace with Morley, Atkins, Coles on the Island....maybe not ahead but on pace. Certainly looks capable of NDL heatleader and only thing that is likely to hold him back will be his inclusion in my dream team.
