Scunthorpe Scorpions 2022
Sings4Speedway replied to IronScorpion's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Kennedy a long term gain? Palin maybe heading towards Josh Auty status but he could easily be another Simon Lambert. Definitely needs to look at what his counterparts are doing Flint, Brennan, Thomas all increasing their averages whilst riding in a CL 1-5. Not saying it can't be turned around but riders destined for the top rarely have extended plateau's in form. -

Blimey. A forecast a prediction a percentage chance its all the same thing. The likelihood was that it was going to piddle down and a high likelihood at that so the promotion called the meeting off early saving / reducing costs to them (they will have already incurred fees for the rain off so its not like they get off freely) saving untold amounts of mileage travelled (Plymouth especially being an outpost will mean travelling the day prior is more common) and of course the countless amounts of work days that need not be cancelled due to travelling to the fixture by the early call off. Yes the predictions can be wrong but id much rather see an early call off end up dry than a meeting abandoned/not start when a poor forecast proved to be accurate. -

Rowe not doing the UK, Newman out of form even for his standards. Don't know about Clegg at Scunny but would he get more than Coles who is at least busting a gut to score points? Better to replace Tero with BWD (at least for a single match) then guest it up.....all in the best interests and all that -

Almost certain that NDL fixtures will get punted to later in the season. The Centurions have nothing left to race for (except avoiding wooden spoon) plus i suspect fines for non completion of matches would be lower? -
Leicester vs Birmingham 25/06/2022 CL
Sings4Speedway replied to IainB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Oh yeah they ran a select side in the National Trophy so 3 home and 3 away. Not really enough fixtures to get anyone engaged with. Second sides will always be a bit marmite but largely essential if the sport in this country has any hope of survival. -
I think the issue falls under the grading of the meetings. Previous one was World Longtrack qualifier this weekend its a Euro Grasstrack qualifier. (If it makes Berwick fans feel any better he should comfortably get through this round so there will be a semi final ahead but at least the final is in the UK)

Oxford vs Glasgow 22nd June
Sings4Speedway replied to Anzum's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Close one this certainly a big step up and ask of the new boy after an impressive NDL debut hard to back against him picking up a few points tonight though. RR probably strengthens the Cheetahs given how inconsistent Newman has been. Home win and possibly a spin for Atkins late on depending how much badgering Mike gives Crump. -

The bigger problems aside from making the sport look a total shambles is the impact on other clubs Redcar for example went there, spent a fortune on rider points and will have no corresponding home fixture to help cover this deficit. Any season ticket holder who hasn't seen Newcastle visit their track will have lost out this year. The governing body that accepted this crock pot team into the league should also be accountable for the demise. All that has been achieved is a promotor has made back some of his initial losses and scarpered leaving everyone else to pick up the pieces. -

Horrendous for the Diamonds fans and feel a bit for riders too. Grant has done nothing but harm the club since he came in, don't really see any way back now (certainly not at the current venue) but the whole reputation is in tatters. -
If everything Jake has stated is true. Usually there's rider side, club side and somewhere in the middle is the truth. For me its just another outburst from an ungrateful brat who thinks speedway owes him something. There is a reason why a talented brit on a low average in each of the leagues didn't have a full place in any of them.
-
Interesting and will see how it pans out for the remainder of the season. Just off quick scans Alfie Bowtell has already guested twice for Plymouth so can't for them anymore or any visiting side. I assume same applies for unattached riders also?
-
Might sound a bit obvious but why does speedway have to be an outdoor sport? Obviously there is an additional cost element but with the mega warehouse structures that are built these days why could a stadia not become enclosed? Telford used to take place indoors so no apparent reasons why not and there would then be a 365 day a year facility and no issues with weather restrictions.....any thoughts?

Whilst it was far from the toughest of opposition it was probably the strongest debut performance since Waj or Palin? Obviously bigger tests and tracks to come but Killeen looks like a promising rider at many levels. As for Plymouth built with a strong numer 1 eating a big chunk of averages and Atkins on a lower average means that problems will continue. Andrews is a shadow of his former self, Extance appears to be Exit and the performances of the 1-5 have nullified any improvements from Trigger.
-
Will be tougher tests to come for Killeen but thats quite a debut, shame he was given ht 15 (could/should have taken the paid max). Has Extance walked away again? Really disappointing form from King at present. Injuries aside the Centurions look a shambles and can't see them tracking an NDL team next season sadly.

Classic mega waste of money on an untried overseas rider with limited pedigree. If that had been spent on an emerging brit you might now be getting somewhere instead it showed it was a poor signing and still leaves the team in a very shaky position. I take no joy in seeing Newcastle speedway crumbling but that is exactly what is happening.

Wolves v Peterborough 06/06/2022

Surprised the track man didn't know the state it would be in prior to 6pm. Then the ref forcing the match on but will never beat rider power. Feel for all those out of pocket namely paying fans and anyone who put in big miles for the 2nd half that didn't get close to happening.
