  1. I never said it was, that comment was directed at Tsunami with Polish track reference. Redcar is short and in my opinion 270 odd metres is too short. My opinion, others differ...
  2. Tosser..? Really? Truly laughable! Attack the post and not the poster. Evidently you're still sore after you were made to look stupid over the track size/rules debate??? And to the other fella, "as good as Belle vue?" Do me a favour! Nowhere in this country come close. And to correct our friend Tsunami, for the umpteenth time: No they don't all need to be same; many of them need them to bigger and still more of them need to be wider, particularly on the bends. You're in no position to criticise Polish tracks. Again truly laughable! Tight, narrow tracks, no space to overtake, no racing spectacle = "first out of the start wins" mentality and why nobody goes!
  3. It' d be a damn sight better spectacle if it was held at BV instead. Redcar 270-odd metres, 50-odd second track record, nothing more than a training track.
  4. Interesting views. This is the view of Long Eaton's track on google maps, keeping zooming in above the actual track and see where you end up! How long before Swindon is like this! https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.8993043,-1.2611033,400m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en
  5. This is exactly my point but it seems the good Mr Pairman and his mates just will not listen. People just do not want to buy/consume what is served up as Speedway at most tracks most weeks of the season. Universal truth.
  6. So people were interested enough in the prospect of Speedway to double your crowd? That sounds like an excellent result. Did you attempt to attain any feedback from those new customers as to why they wouldn't/didn't come back? I would suggest that the reasons were: 1. The racing spectacle was virtually none existent, how many heats any had passing beyond the back straight of lap 1? Quite possibly none. 2. And very much a secondary reason would be that the presentation would be rather low-key. The conclusion to come is that people are not interested in watching boring, processional "races" with little to no passing, or anything resembling any drama. Of course at Belle Vue, you now have an excellent advantage over every other club in the country, i.e. the best Speedway track.
  7. This is exactly what should happen. It would make it so much more difficult for BE to sell it for housing if the BSPA were able to come along and say we're willing to buy it for this much and the deal can be done now. Of course, as we are repeatedly told, the BSPA "have no money"! The sport's national body and it has no finances... Why?
  8. You need some info from the promotion on all the dimensions of the new track, has this been forthcoming yet??
  9. There is no referee's box on that picture, alarm bells should be getting louder................ This is a significant change to the original plans, how can it possibly go through all the planning, etc. hoops that quickly to be started so soon??
  10. Still fishy but, being optimistic... If the track is shortened to be a carbon copy of the new Belle Vue then that will be excellent news... Swindon current length = 363m, New Belle Vue = 347m. Russell & Co should now be insisting/ensuring the track is a replica of Belle Vue, of course they won't be.
  11. At Stoke, I think last year, or maybe the year before, there were people on Facebook on about the noise from Loomer Rd. It was mostly stated as noise from the " Speedway" even though the specific occasion that was being referred to was an F1 (I think) Stocks night. A few people pointed out that it wasn't actually Speedway that was the cause of the noise on that particular night and, to be fair, most people commenting did say that it didn't really bother them.
  12. For info, here is the link to the story on the BBC News site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-42745611
  13. This must be a concern, especially now Doyle has gone from Swindon, could he end up elsewhere? What would this minimum be? Half of the teams to have a GP rider?? Holder to Poole, Lindgren/Wolves, Belle Vue/Zagar? King's Lynn???
  14. Would that be Ellesmere Port 1985? And the BSPA should be crucified for it because they've caused the issue over many numbers of seasons.
  15. The reason i went to the PLRC was because the PC meeting was so good. Belle Vue is class! Or course there are less good meetings there, when the weather plays a part, and when the line-ups aren't well matched but these are issues to be solved in around 50 years time once everybody finally realises that the fundamental problem is that most British tracks are dire and needing fixing in one way or another.
  16. It's not just about the length you know, width comes into it as well! And if we're talking speedway tracks, shape is also key. Went Exeter once, utterly unimpressed.
  17. Then you are 100% correct ;-) Small/narrow/poorly shaped tracks are the most fundamental problem. Followed by poorly prepared tracks, never any passing in Heat 1. Tracks generally give the most passing between Heats 8 -12 in my view. Why aren't they prepared for passing from the off?
  18. What controls were in place then as regards team strengths and would that work now?
  19. I am completely confused as to why you are telling me to open my eyes when you appear to be agreeing with pretty much everything I said!?!!
  20. I think I preferred it when you flounced off. The fact of the matter is there are too many fundamentally flawed tracks in this country whereby passing is nigh on impossible, as a result there is no "Racing" spectacle. People will not got to watch a 30yd "race" followed by a 4 lap procession and that happens far too often, open your eyes! You'll come back and say tracks can't afford it. Really? Leicester, Glasgow and Rye House have all made track adjustments in recent years. And finally, I said " phase out" not shutdown, give them time to improve the tracks.

  22. 100% Correct, phase out the crap, narrow tracks!
  23. Who was on the SCB panel? The names of the panel members should be documented in the statement of the panel. What difference does the last month or 2 months of the season make to the outcome of the AGM? Nothing. It should be at the end of August. They even have Guests doing their Twitter account now do they?!! ;-)
  24. Some kind words for Peter Oakes but lets not lose sight of the fact that the sport's decline happened on his (and obviously various others') watch. Evidently he doesn't (didn't) have all the answers.
  25. Interesting to observe none of the winners now have a speedway track in their town/city. You could conclude that that the sport still has appeal beyond it's core areas. The BSPA's "New Track Planning Committee" should take note...
