So no Hans and no AJ. I hope the club have a nice surprise for us!
-
It's not hard to stick all the tier 1 draft riders PL and EL averages into a calculator and work out a fair conversion and then apply that to Worrall (and Barker if rumours are true)
-
I love these sites. They're not polished, professional looking sites but they're real fans efforts. The internet used to have a few sites like this in the past for various sports teams but they all seem to have died a death and all thats left now is official sites and a few forums. But the content they have is enough to get you lost in there for hours. I wouldn't like to think the hours you have spent on these.
-
Which strikes me as barmy. It the Roses and Cleggs who need the help, this will only hold them back.
-
Yes you can until the first set of green sheets (after 4 meetings) No, it's to save money and help bring on the young Brits. They've had 2 season of being protected in reserve, they now need to be allowed to try being in the 1-5 or you end up with them never leaving the reserve berths.
-
You're making this difficult Newman and Garrity could start on 7, Wright and Worrall on 6.5 (or whatever they got last season). After 4 meeting they are apparently going to get averages which may or may not put them into the 1-5 anyway, you could still do that. While the 1-5s could have rolling averages (to stop them being able to "drop" easily) the reserves could be given averages just for this season. It's funny how only Poole fans are failing to grasp this on here and twitter

World U21 Team Final Saturday October 31st
SCB replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
While it may level things a little, the Poles have two GP riders and in Przedpelski (does he have an easier to spell nick name?!) a guy who could probably score well in the GPs. The Aussies have Morris who could probably give it a go then a load of potential. The Aussies may keep it close but the Poles should always have this one in the bag. -
You can't change the past (well actually you sort of can if you're the SCB ) but you can change the future and make sure it's now allowed again.

Now Len Silver Resigns As Co Promoter Rye House
SCB replied to Dave Stummings's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
As an outsider looking in, this could be the fresh impetus that Rye and Len need. There little doubt that his first 10 years back at Rye House he did wonderful things. He signed them Kennett, Woffinden and Sundstrom, he built good, solid and successful teams in the NL and the PL. About 2005ish they were a club to be envied, they seemed to have it all with their promotion owned stadium added to my previous list. But the last few years things have gone a bit awry. Rye have become a bit looked down on and down trodden, hopefully some fresh new people can breathe some life into it while Len can do for Kent what he did for Rye House. -
This could be the beauty of the BSPA cock up. Fans on here are asking questions, pointing out possibly loop-holes. Meaning when they sit down at the final-final-AGM they will have got the fans to iron out the wrinkles and things will be fixed/fairer. Woffys average is about 7.1. Guess what Newman and Garrity averaged last year? About 7.1. I'd say it's very possible if Coventrys first 4 meetings include a visit to Wolves and 3 home meetings he could hit 8 and be replaced by anyone in the World except Nicki or Greg! As it is, I'm assuming we're going back to the "traditional" EL format (the current PL one) so higher averages will be a little harder. Plus draft riders will only be able to be replaced by other draft riders.
-
Regarding it being a "3 pointer", some people mean average of 3.00 to 3.99 for "3 pointer", short for "3 point XX". The BSPA PR did say NL eligible riders which is anyone under 4 so I'd assumed (haha!) that Clegg and other 3 to 3.99 Brits would be included.
-
No they don't. It's already been stated on the BSPA site that the draft riders will start in reserve for 4 meetings regardless of average. There no reason why they couldn't just use there EL averages. Nobody has yet come up with a reason.
-
What rule is going to magic up money? The World bets want paying. British speedway can't pay. Even if they went to one race night, once home and away the top guys still wouldn't want it, they'd find another excuse as one of them will admit they just want more money.
-
The guy who average 2.45 is suddenly going to come good? He won't get 3.5 next year is my prediction - Id' say won't get a job but you know some mug promoter will give him one. God knows why. Maybe is young Brits were given the changes he's been given they'd be hitting the dizy heights of a 2.45 average now! I can just see the PL going into melt down because Nicki Barrett, Roland Benko, Fernando Garcia, Hynek Stichauer, Danny Massen, Rafal Konopka, Paco Castagna, Alex Edberg, Arthur Sissis, Dimitri Berge and Rusty Harrison are all forced out after failing to average more than 4! Frankly, most of them are a waste of time and space, they'll never add anything to British Speedway. The suggestion that Konopka is better signing that Stef Nielsen is messed up too, even if Konopka did beat all the NL riders (and he won't) so would Stef Nielsen but Stef would also beat some 1-5 riders, Konopka won't.

They're equally as distorted. There are 90 points in a meeting, every point you make harder for a heat leader you make easier for a reserve. Gone are the 10 point men and now the top guys are 8 point men, thus the top guys are 2 points lower. While at reserve rather than being 5 pointers we now have 7 pointers, thus a gain of 2. It just doesn't matter anyway. ALL reserves have had the same easier races and have all gained an equal amount on their averages, so if Garrity is inflated, so is Newman and Kerr and Wright etc etc. So as long as every team signs one it won't make a blind bit of difference. All the draft riders have raced enough meetings in the EL in the last 2 season to give them an EL average gained in the same way in the same strength league to be fair.l But no the BSPA have decided to use another leagues averages. Barmy! Really? Lakeside build uninspiring middle order teams every year. In fact if you look at the prediction thread most people had Lakeside lower down the order this year.
-
Heat leaders averages are distorted too but I don't see anyone suggesting using riders Polish league averages!
-
It's amazing. It's like the other promoters all want Poole to win the league. If one club didn't need help it Poole!!
-
Exactly. There are none. But the point is that the league won't be weaker, the limit allows for plenty of improvement in a couple of teams. If you bear in mind Kildemand/Ward and Magic are gone too, plenty of points worth of riders need to be found. But try don't exist!
-
They're unlikely to get much more than 6 riding at number 6 using the "traditional" format (as in the current PL). But no, they couldn't be replaced as each club will always have to have the FTRs in the team. I think this is one of the better rules, it will force some of the better reserve to push themselves against more of the better riders now. They've had two years of having their hand held and their backsides wiped, now it time to let them go free and make a go of it.
-
But it is a surprise. The mupets are ruining things for their own clubs by giving Poole a head start. It's all well and good us on here claiming Poole cheat, bend, manipulate etc but if other promoters are going to give them a free point for team building, well......
-
The league is slightly stronger. Poole have to lose a point, we have to lose 0.3 of a point, BV a point, Swindon a little over a point, where as if Wolves sign Roynon to replace Blackbird they have a spare 5.5 points! Leicester need to find 7 points work of riders (both could sign a 10 pointer for their 5th rider!), Lakeside are a point short as are Lynn. So on the whole, if all teams build to the limit, the league will gain points, not lose them. IMO, the limit should have been 42.5 and draft riders sign on their EL averages
-
I don't think thats what it means. The number 7 will ride at #7. The number 7 goes out in heat 2 (protected) and then heat 4 is currently the 2 5 and 7s, that will be protected too so that the number 7s ride against each other (plus the number 5). Rather than heat 4 being another reserve race. I think/hope anyway!
-
The rule say (or did last year) that the 2 minute warning should be sounded within 5 minutes of the end of the previous heat. Add in a minute for the race thats 8 minutes a heat or 120 minutes (minus the 5 mins before heat 1 is 115 mins) - to me the 5 minutes is to allow for 2 on the trot for a rider, otherwise the 2 minutes should be no within 2 minutes. Meaning 75 minutes for a meeting, 10 minutes for an interval, there bound to be 2 or 3 re-runs that add 15 minutes making 90 minutes a night. That rule exists. Anyone leaving the track before a re-run is excluded unless someone has fallen off.
-
Certainly seems odd for a club to announce something like this (albeit tentatively) then not go through with it.
-
What is there (other that moany greens finding out and getting upset) in place to stop a track man just getting a load of used oil and dumping it no his track anyway?
