  1. It's not a line of work, it's a developement league. The clue is in the name, the "National DEVELOPMENT League"
  2. This is Redcar/Brian Havelock so you have to accept it's not going to be perfect As above, it's Redcar, they're not a glamorous or rich club. They a bit rough around the edges. This team is pretty good for them. Graversen at reserve all year will do ok, Hall is a prove 7 pointer, a dozen poor meeting late on last year is not what he should be based on but the 10 year career at a 7 point man. Bjerre is as good a number 1 as anyone and only going one way. The rest, well they're solid, Kus, Robbo and Skidmore will all end on the average they started on to within half a point. I've seen nothing on Konopka but his numbers don't look great so he will probably be the weak link but if he fails theres always a 3 pointer out there.
  3. Recars team doesnt look that bad IMO. Hall is a pretty good signing.
  4. And we all know why the rules was ignore then! Who gained? Poole!!!
  5. Which suggests that whenever housing and being built anywhere near a speedway track we should all en masse write to the councils objecting so that it's put into the deeds that those people cannot complain. No good for homes already there but as Tesco like to tell us, "Every little helps"
  6. He's still far too inconsistent to get 9. He'll have done a good job if he maintains his average. It's ok people getting excited about him but a 5.5 EL average equates to about a 6.5 PL average, throw in a little improvement and 7.5 to 8 would be a great season for him.
  7. Strikes me as the same sort of rider. relies heavily on gating so on his day can make 5 good gates and beta anyone but on a bad say can be outgated by NL riders 4 times and score 2 or 3. He's a bit more exciting to watch than Tomicek but he doesn't actually do a lot of passing from what I've seen. He won't do any worse than his current average but I'm not convinced he's going to hit the heights some people think he's capable of. A very good rider to have a number 7 though for sure and will get 6 if he stays in reserve all year.
  8. It makes me laugh, people want a 42 point limit and then say a minimum of 36 or 38. But where are the riders going to come from for this? The league has an extra team and a few of the top riders are not eligible any more so you need 7 6 pointers (on average, to fill the extra team) and to replace the half a dozen riders who have moved up. But you want a 42 point limit? How about a more realistic 38 or 39?
  9. Yet another good Ipswich PL team on paper. Can they finally get it right? As it is, I think any team will be playing second fiddle to a Sheffield tea that looks pretty immense.
  10. He'll be in the EL. Low average due to riding as a heat leader in '14 and a lack of decent EL riders around.
  11. Didnt he just ride his luck But my point was more, you can plan and plan and plan. And it can still go wrong (Poole 2009!) but you can also sign whatever the hell you can get your hands on and if it goes wrong sack it and sign whatever else you can get your hands on, eventually you'll strike it lucky - Thats was Peter Waites approach and it meant he was able to give a club with a small fan base some teams that punched above their weight. It meant Berwick were built into a stronger club with a great fan base and a new promotion were able to take over and take a more controlled approach.
  12. So the new promorion have bought the speedway club AND the stadium? Or just bought the club and are doing work on a stadium they lease? which seems more likely to littler old me.
  13. He often gave Berwick a good team though, he had his 3 or 4 Berwick riders you knew would be back including Makovsky and Rymel and then signed what he could get hold of. And if someone under performed, he sacked them and looked for someone better.
  14. Dilger must be mid-20s and has never done a thing, he's not going to now. Yet a sub-21 Brit with limited experience may just, given the opportunity grasp it and become a hit.
  15. AFAIK, Crump, Watson, Powell and Parker between them only failed to hit a 7 point PL average once. Hardly failure when you look at some of the Aussies Glasgow signed who failed to get 5. Did Davey ever hit 3? And What about the lad who had 2 or 3 meetings mid-season before being dumped? And the one who started the season about 2 years ago and was gone by mid-summer? The issue here is the BSPA have been giving 5 point averages to work permit riders when the rules agreed with the UKBA say they should be a 7. The BSPA may have said he would be a 5 but unfortunately the UKBA (or whatever they're now called) is bigger and more powerful than the BSPA. Somerset may have been unfortunate victims here of a cock up by the BSPA as a whole.
  16. I'll have 50p on Glasgow signing most. But that doesn't answer the question about how benefited most as they were generally rubbishe and only Grajczonek proved worth it
  17. it should never have been 5, this is the issue. It should have been 7, he's not got 7 so should not get a new work permit.
  18. Yes. Now the UKBA (or whatever they're now called) are going to let them off having already had an easy ride?
  19. Just who are the new Glasgow owners?
  20. No. In a word. Must have British parents - his dad(?) posts in here so can probably confirm.
  21. This is what amuses me. Workington got in their quickly to complain after signing Campton and Wells on under 7. Erm. And Scunny made comments on twitter and have Ryan Douglas on sub 7. Ooops!
  22. Somersets team is illegal so until they make changes it's hard to judge. D'oh, of course! Forgot about them. They'll have to something impressive to mess up their team now.
  23. When you look at the averages of Wolbert, Cook and Wethers you'd have to fancy Edinburgh to win another title if they started with that 3 in the line up. Possible 4 point gain there alone.
  24. Because you're wrong. Aveages are calculated form 4 rides, there are 7 riders in a team. You only need about 42 to win, can be done with 40.2. But thats not what it's about,it's about equality, it's no good if 5 teams build to your 45 point figure but the other 5 teams in the league only have teams adding up to 30 is it? Where are the riders going to come from for your 45 point limit?
  25. Erm, the BSPA are "those" that you refer too. The "BSPA" you seem to be referring to is the BSPA management committee. The Somerset promotion are (at least a part of) the BSPA.
