I'm not saying have no yellow but yellow is a very garish colour. And yes, I know Coventrys colours are black and yellow and I think the merchandise looks naff there too Go red and white, you're hardly going to be mistaken for one of the 25 Stoke fans are you? Do Stoke even sell merchandise?
-
Which shows he can only beat 4.5 PL riders if they have EFs. Thats a 4.5 PL rider with a poor record around that track too!
-
I don't see what it has to do with knowing anything about any sport. Claming it's wrong to want to win but choosing to compete at a lower level doesn't compute. Cradley won the NL in 2014 but they're still only the 23rd best team in the UK, YAY for being the 23rd best team, hardly anything to get excited about is it? Ah, got it, you mean me using the term kiddies league? Well it's the Nation DEVELOPMENT League. We're not trying to develop 40 years old are we? We're trying to develop kids, so they go on to be our future riders. I guess we should just fill the league with foreigners and old guys, it'll be so much better won't it? I have to question if you know anything about the sport with your arsey comment.
-
You know what, I'm sure the red and yellow is not good. Speedway merchandise is a bit naff at the best of times but what the hell can you do with red and yellow? I'd use this as a new fresh start and I'd dump the yellow personally. Red and white are good colours.

Are people really suggesting 36? 34 is too high. Where are the 7+ men going to come from to take up the slack already without making the limit 36.
-
starman doesn't do valid argument. He just spouts rhetoric statements he has heard other make. It what makes him such a laugh.
-
But are Cradley really winning? If you have the ambition to win, have the ambition to do it in the PL or the EL. Winning the NL at all costs is a bit pointless. It made me laugh that the club have had race jackets with 1981, 1983, 2013 and 2014 on.Are they really, honestly, trying to claim that 2013 and 2014 in any way compared with 81 and 83? You just can't imagine BV including any league wins by the Colts in their list of all time wins. A NL win is lovely for the lads involved, it's quite nice at the time but it's hardly going to be a, "remember the good old days when we won the league in ....." story is it? Not for a club like Cradley. At least Matt tries to be the best of the best. But being the best of a kiddie league, well, yeah, great.
-
I don't see whats so hard to sort out signing a NL rider, "want to sign for us?" "yes". Sorted, £10 a point and however much it is per mile as it is for all riders and all clubs.
-
Thats a myth. You have say 15 grade points per team, you've used up 14 and have 1 place left, so you have 1 grade point left. You have to sign a rider on an average that fits into the grade 1 grade, you still have to sign a rider on the right average. Grade will be based on averages. Grades are just averages of averages and a stupid idea. They allow the richer teams to sign 7 riders at the top of their grade while poorer teams get left with the riders at the bottom so the richer teams can have a team that is 4 or 5 pointer higher than others before a meeting has been run.
-
And people who are willing to donate, thus save the club, are being told they're moaners for daring to ask about how it's all funded. It's not unfair to ask what the two guys running it are putting in. Why not answer the question?
-
Maybe the new promotion have put x amount in themselves and need another 40k on top of that? It would be a lot easier if the promotion just told people what they had put in just to keep them happy, I don't see how it can do any harm.

Birmingham Brummies - Has The Come Back Trail Started?
SCB replied to kitten2502's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Old riders are not the issue, how many old riders didn Scunthorpe and Cradley have been them? None. The issue is the sharing out of riders and that averages don't really work in a NL where riders are improving at a greater rate than the EL so there are more obvious ringers/bargain averaged riders out there for the top teams to snap up. But short of saying, "16 year old Johhny averaged 5 this year, but the second half the year was riding like a 7 pointer so we'll make his average 8 for next year" you'll never stop that. And imagine doing that? Putting young, improving riders averages up Maybe the answer is to pick say the top 20 likely improvers and say each team can sign no more than 2 of them, Cradley can't sign 7 of them that way. -
Not sure I like this, for the reason you state. It too easy now in an already won meeting to ease off, which will leave clubs open to suggestions of corruption. BUT I have said for a long time it's about making sure the home fans go home happy having won the meeting and this does that. 3-2-1-0-1-2-3-4 used to work well though IMO.

And does it not worry you that your son (or yourself) could go out, have sex with someone, she could "not remember it" and he (or you) are then branded a rapist? She hasn't proved anything, which is one of the basic of getting someone convicted of a crime. Rape, you are guilty, you have to prove your innocent. Thats messed up. She was not drunk enough to "not remember", but by "not remembering" he becomes a rapist. It's too easy to be a rapist these days is someone with a idioted up head or a vendetta decides to get you. Anyway, the issue here is if the public should be allowed to decide who does or does not do a job once released from prison. Why shouldn't Evans go back to him job? As I see it, nobody has yet given a good reason. It's not like in his job as a footballer, on a pitch with 22 other men being watched by thousands of others he's a risk to anyone is he? In fact thats about as safe as a job as it gets, he's being watched by 1000s of people!

I disagree. You can have a reserve who score 5 home and 5 away and averages 5. Or you can have one who scores 7 home and 3 away and will average 5. It doesn't matter, the play-offs are over two legs so thats what it is about. Win all your home meetings, a couple of good away results and you're in the play-offs. As a number 7 Luke would be a great signing, just make sure you sign another 4-5 point rider who will be the big hitter and reserve and score the 7-12 away while Luke scores the 3 or 4 to get his average.
-
Initially I thought, "great" then I looked at the averages and the 34 point limit is madness. One or two teams are going to be utterly terrible while a team or two signing the right riders could be totally dominant. Especially as they have not taken into account the fact second strings got higher average last season. Scunthorpe.
-
Amazed to see people suggesting Klindt. Wouldn't go near him. Yes we'll score 12 one day and look amazing (in the 4 rides he wins, while looking shocking in the one he rolls in last) but another day he'll score 3, with 3 shocking lasts and a win by half a lap. Too risky, can't rely on him when you need a big ride. Also a little surprised at people not wanting Bowen back. Ok he's never going to be a heatleader and he's not that great but on a sub 4 point average there is surely a point to be gained on that at least, possibly two if he spend 90% of the season in reserve, which if the teams is built correctly, he will.
-
His GSA for 2014 is the clue there. Along with his first season being 2011. He'll never get the 7 point average in 2011 that a load of Scunny fans said he would get and still tried to a argue the following season and you just have now
-
Second rate? I'd he that good? No doubt Scunny fans will think I'm being harsh but I'm still waiting for Jorgensen to get 7 that I was told he'd get in his first year
-
The only reason Telford and Brighton ended is because the landlords kicked them out. Not because they were not financially viable. The fact that both took place for a combined 30+ years suggests they worked. Have to agree, if I was looking to run speedway I'd be looking at some sort of indoor championship. There enough indoor centres etc around that it must be possible these days.
-
I'm not really sure what people think a chairmans job is. It's just to keep things under control, the lead meetings. They don't have any more say in how things are run than anyone else.

If You Could Sign One Ex Pl Rider?
SCB replied to Robinh88's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
The late 90s early 00s what a time to be a premier league speedway fans. -
it won't be Matt but someone not a million miles away, surely?
-
And another one. What about the men? Men can be raped and sexually abused to. Or do you subscribe to scribblers views that only men can rape women? Its never been sugested the girl in question had learning difficulties or lacked any "mental capacity" so I'm not sure what the relevance is. I fear for people when they can;'t have sex with someone without a written contract that states the person agrees to it. And it's signed by a witness

They must have deleted it then.
