  1. Just seen some photos from Oxford's Press and Practice Day...Great stuff! Welcome back the "Cheetahs!"
  2. Trouble is that technology has a habit of crashing...lost count the number of times I've arrived at the tills with my purchases to find that it's cash only because their signal has gone down!
  3. I know that Tony Lomas once set up in business with Jim selling reproduction furniture but their relationship didn't work out .
  4. Wish I could make it...so many great memories! Huge congratulations to all those who have made it happen.
  5. Another sad loss. Was initially allocated to Oxford during the "old days" of Rider Control but he turned the move down and, if I recall correctly, John Dews was sought as a replacement?
  6. If i recall Peter beat Ove 2-1 that particular day and set a track record of 63 secs which stood for ten years and was only bettered when the track was altered and a new record established (George Hunter?)
  7. The classic Match Races between the two held at Cowley in 1963 when the track record was broken...wish I had been there!
  8. Not sure...I remember when he owned the music shop on Marston Road.
  9. Oxford's announcer, Dave Hammond, was one of the best. Nice bloke too!
  10. Peter York used to do a commentary form the centre green at Cowley during the last lap and I found it irritating to say the least!
  11. Used to like Chris French (?) on Screensport/Eurosport.
  12. I think that was Colin Martin (?) once of Tape 'o' Sport...never liked him to be honest.
  13. Troy only got the two...1985 and 1989?
  14. I caught a quick glimpse on ITV4 a rerun of "The Big Match" introduced by Brian Moore. No histerics or crazy camera angles or graphics. That's how I remember football on the TV!
  15. ...all that awful "Silver Machine" name that was adopted during the Wagstaff years!
  16. Apparently the promotion has issued a fixture list? I wish them all the best and hopefully the people of Oxford and the surrounding area will support the venture.
  17. ...one reason I don't tend to watch sport on TV.
  18. I had the chance to go to Sunderland in 1973 but my relations weren't speedway orientated! I have since passed the stadium on a couple of occasions when passing by.
  19. It's a while since I saw the DVD but I think it may well be featured on the DVD covering the 1970's World Finals released by retro-speedway?
