Looks like we have a spammer on the forum

I rarely post on here now and it's ironic that one who has chosen to post on this particular thread used to continually trawl some of my posts that I had no option but to put him/her on "ignore" as it became tiresome and repetitive! Also there was another who frequents the forum regularly who spouts very bizarre rhetoric and opinions but I guess that's the nature of public forums and one must accept that if one wishes to participate in open discussion? -
Sad news indeed...such a good servant to the sport. RIP

I don't come on here very often now but felt I needed to add my thoughts to an interesting thread. I first "found" speedway in 1972 at my local track at Oxford which was just around the corner from where I lived. I was instantly hooked and followed the fortunes of my team for 32 years before I relocated. Took in many neutral matches around the country and relished trips to White City especially. Travelled abroad for World Finals...it was my life and created so many memories that I still cherish. However I could see how the sport was being managed in the latter years of my interest and moving to an area that had no speedway diminished my interest and I had no desire to travel a distance to take in a meeting due to many reasons that I have often cited in the past on here.

I did place my initial post under General Discussions but I would imagine it would be better placed here? It is with deep regret due to having to downsize that I will have to off load my extensive collection of speedway DVD's. They number approximately 800 and as an Oxford fan many cover the Cheetahs but there are many internationals and World Finals. Unfortunately due to the size of the collection any interested party would have to collect which I appreciate may be an issue? I seriously hope that there maybe someone who is interested...they cover the years 1972 to the present as it would be a terrible loss to have trash them? Regards

Speedways relationship with the media

Exactly other sports have had their share of bad press over the decades. As regards the Sunday People "allegations" anybody within the sport knew that "deals" were made throughout its history. The only thing that Simmo and Wiggy were guilty of was naivety and talking to strangers. -

Sorry don't buy into that one. Football survived match fixing by certain players during the sixties and other sports same since with drugs etc. -
Since when was he involved at White City and Wembley?

Reider Eide who ride for many teams during a distinguished career. -
Wasn't necessarily comparing cities but the fact that the the two day world final was derided by many at the time and since and yet that's what's been put forward at Manchester albeit within a GP series?
-
Interesting development? The two day final in Amsterdam has constantly been criticised over the years although I enjoyed the event as it gave you two days in Amsterdam enjoying the sites. Obviously people now accept the idea of a two day event albeit within a GP series?

Riders with unique styles/characteristics.
steve roberts replied to Zagarmeister's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Ivan Mauger was quoted as saying that his style needed "tidying" up as Andrew appeard to be riding four bends continually locking up and should have been smoother but I guess that's what made speedway so exciting back then to watch...individualist. Riders now look all the same. -

I used to enjoy watching riders negotiating the bends with full lockers of which the Kennett Brothers were masters!
