  1. My brother intends visiting for this one. He's never been to (B)rough Park befiore.
  2. Nice to read that Unipart are offering parking as they did way back when the "Cheetahs" last ran. If I recall Chris Brown organised the initiative originally?
  3. The most important thing in my opinion is that Oxford is back after 17 years dormant years. The priority this year I would have thought was to win the majority of their home matches and hopefully their away form will follow once they've become re-established. I wish all those involved great luck and for their enthusisam and dedication...wish I was able to make return visits to Cowley but living in East Yorkshire makes that difficult but I hope to get back sometime in the near future!
  4. Sad news indeed. Although I was not that familiar with his TV work I do know that his energy and enthusiasm was immense. Will be sorely missed. RIP
  5. I recall that Oxford "Rebel" Dag Lovaas would put in an appearance if racing returned to Cowley?
  6. My brother was very impressed with what he saw...well done to all those who got speedway back at Cowley!
  7. ...especially like the reference to the "Moonrakers!"
  8. Although I won't be there I wish all concerned the very best of luck and it's great to see the return of the "Cheetahs!"
  9. I used to have chats with Ian when visiting "Mouseman of Kilburn." A very nice person and told some fascinating stories regarding his speedway career.
  10. Never got to see any racing at Halifax but called in many years later to view the stadium and with some imagination could visualise where the track once was?
  11. Just seen some photos from Oxford's Press and Practice Day...Great stuff! Welcome back the "Cheetahs!"
  12. Trouble is that technology has a habit of crashing...lost count the number of times I've arrived at the tills with my purchases to find that it's cash only because their signal has gone down!
  13. I know that Tony Lomas once set up in business with Jim selling reproduction furniture but their relationship didn't work out .
  14. Wish I could make it...so many great memories! Huge congratulations to all those who have made it happen.
  15. Another sad loss. Was initially allocated to Oxford during the "old days" of Rider Control but he turned the move down and, if I recall correctly, John Dews was sought as a replacement?
  16. If i recall Peter beat Ove 2-1 that particular day and set a track record of 63 secs which stood for ten years and was only bettered when the track was altered and a new record established (George Hunter?)
  17. The classic Match Races between the two held at Cowley in 1963 when the track record was broken...wish I had been there!
  18. Not sure...I remember when he owned the music shop on Marston Road.
  19. Oxford's announcer, Dave Hammond, was one of the best. Nice bloke too!
  20. Peter York used to do a commentary form the centre green at Cowley during the last lap and I found it irritating to say the least!
  21. Used to like Chris French (?) on Screensport/Eurosport.
