@Gavan Ever heard the phrase - one swallow doesn't make a summer? I am not diminishing the value of course form etc, but your application of it. Ever heard of sample size? We may disagree (often), but you are entitled to your opinion. I don't begrudge you that. However, you always portray your opinion as 100% correct, without fault. Everything is black and white. I've seen you try, on occasion, to have a debate, but 9/10 you dig in your heels and start shouting and ranting. For that reason I think you're a troll, or perhaps the world's most blinkered, stubborn person. Feel free to prove me wrong by conducting yourself like a positively contributing member of this speedway community. Most of us on here are fans of speedway and we can all see the sport is in the rubbish. Least we can do is be somewhat nice to each other and discuss the sport between ourselves in a civil manner.

Slight exaggeration. Even taking the Gavan route and basing Worrall's average on his 16-pt score only, remove the tactical points, and bonus points (thanks SS), his one-match CMA, at the peak of his powers at Poole, would be 8.66. Pretty sure there are multiple riders in the league who averaged similar, so "utterly irreplaceable" is pure hyperbole.

@Steve Shovlar FWIW, I made his CMA based on the eight listed matches, 6.92 (counting his tac-sub win as a straight 3pts). 64 total points from 37 rides. If the tac sub does count as a 6, it's 7.24

I literally just did the exact same thing Steve!!! You did miss (there was a page 2!): 05/04/17 - Steve Worrall 3 1* 3 1* = 8+2 (4) But your point remains about how much the team will miss him... The answer is, he is far from a certainty for double-figure at Wimborne Road.

Preferably his last 6+ performances - that should be a solid benchmark to work out what his form is like riding at Poole... Or, keep bleating on like a broken record, stuttering the same old misinterpretations and falsehoods?

Speedway, a sport built around rider's average score, but all it really boils down to is your last match [in Gavan's mind, when it suits him]. Maybe we should scrap averages, and just build teams based on one-match CMAs? Is this where the sport has being going wrong!?

Sure. I was making more of a tongue in cheek comments about speedway and transparency to the paying public in this case. Obviously every case should be treated on its own merits.

Steve Worrall - easily as good around Wimborne Road as Darcy Ward in his pomp, because he once scored 16 there. I'll make note he is a 10.00+ now when riding at Poole... Gavan up to his usual tricks - everything is black and white and he is 100% certain based on his use of statistics. Well Gavan, as Ben Disraeli once said, there are three types of lies, "lies, damn lies and statistics". You are a true cherry-picker when it comes to your stats. And blinkered to say the least. And a few other things beside that! Why not take a more even-handed approach when having a discussion in a public forum? Maybe then you'll get the conversation you supposedly want? Anyways, Poole are short price favs to win the league and it's generally accepted that they have the strongest team. No-one in their right mind thinks Poole will win every match. It will likely take a few matches for the newest imports to get to grips with the UK setups. It will be a shock to see the Pirates drop points at home this year, and they should have moderate success on their travels. Ipswich 1998 they are not!!!!

Kurtz will top the Poole averages. He's a 'out and out number 1' in this league. He took a knock at the worst possible time last year, was rushed back (WU21 Final) and struggled to re-find his early season form as a result. He is better in the UK than his average from last season suggests [opinion]. If he can stay healthy (always a big if in this sport) he'll push 9.00 [more opinion].

Amusing to see one group of people claiming its outrageous Poole can sign a 'ringer' like Woryna on a 'false average', while a whole different set of fans on here claim its an uninspiring signing who will likely flop. Can't comment on Szczepaniak, but as several have highlighted, his Polish D1 average suggests he is open to improvement on his current British league average.

If you block them all, the forum become much, much more bearable. Shame that the admin doesn't just perma-ban their IP.
