Hello racers and royalist. Have been looking for the third round of the SEC. Am I just missing it somewhere? Thanks for any help! -
Swedish GP 2018 Hallstavik
New Yorker replied to Ghostwalker's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Hi Racers and Royals, Being in the US and usually working Saturdays about eight or nine Eastern time I would go to Youtube and at least find a foreign language version of the GP's. Now by Tuesday they still don't seem to be there and I have to go to the forum to find your link to the short version and of course see who won in the search! Do you know what's going on ? I really can't thank you enough for all your effort sharing the many links!!! -
Thanks R&R for the great link. I feel sort of guilty not having to pay for the great entertainment! If anyone says that Speedway is not a sport refer them to above link. If anyone says that you don't have to be in good shape and train also see above. In the little "jerk water" town in New York State (pop. 5,000) where I live I'm the only one that I know who follows speedway and also the only one who knows what everybody else is missing!

Am looking forward to this series. Looks like a good mix of riders that could produce some good races and possibly some surprises. I'm glad Leon Madson is competing as he has been a favorite of mine. I stated in an earlier post that I would have thought that Madson would have been a much better "pair" for Jepson Jenson in the Speedway of nations. Seems like I heard that he is out of favor with the Danes.....does anyone know what's going on with him?

World Championship Pairs
New Yorker replied to Mark's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
This was such a boring series nobody is even talking about it...... Did anyone wonder how Denmark would have finished if Leon Madsen was "on" and on the team. Jepson Jensen in my opinion was the most exciting rider of the series. Of course not up to Tai's standard but he really put on a show. Haven't read all the posts. But not counting the team riding Artem Laguta was just a tick off Tai's great scoring in the series. If he rides like that in the GP for the rest of the year look out. As Racers and Royals said Emil's interview was a perfect ending to an exciting evening. (Not quite what he said but a very nice post) It sounds like the prices were quite high for the two nights of the finals but I would have gladly paid the price and then to see the Russian team singing their national anthem with trophies in hand.....priceless!! Yes there needs to be some tweaking but I really enjoyed it. -

I thought Lambert moved on the start in the race before Dudek was thrown out for the same movement. Think it Great Britain's last heat. Haven't read all the posts but wonder if anyone else noticed or commented. Also in my opinion once someone hits the tape no more infractions. In all likelihood he might have drawn someone else off and I don't think it's fair to penalize more than one for the same infraction. -

It's sort of strange how nobody is talking about Laguta. Yes, the competition wasn't the GP but he was very dominant. And if Emil can get off the line a little better they will be hard to beat. -
Had to go back and watch the final a few times in slow motion. I noticed that Tai kept going the full race but was running at least the last lap just inside the white line and as the riders were setting up for the last turn there was Tai just tooling around quite near the line. Wouldn't this be considered a distraction for the riders who were still racing (as Taicould have been)? Being that there is an ocean between us I will say that was poor sportsmanship. Also if I was the race director Nikki would have sat out the next GP for giving me the finger especially for a call that I didn't make.
-
After the two semi finals and the final I forgot all about the heats that were boring. I have a question.....shouldn't Tai have kept going in the final in case of a restart? In the case of Majic and Emil I think the fact that Emil was just (about) a bike length ahead might have worked in his favor. On Lingren and Tai incident did anyone see a camera angle from the rear? That would be helpful. No question in my mind that this is shaping up to be a better season than last year. Also want to give a call to Dudek for being a good rider, a good sport and it appears to me a nice fellow.

Generally boring but interesting at the same time. Takeaways for me: I thought that Hancock looked pretty good and Holder seems to have found something since last year. I would like to see Madsen and Hample in the GP. I must have missed it but could someone tell me why Hample was never considered for the GP after his World Cup injury. Did anyone notice that Chugunov although not scoring many points was running very close to Emil and Hample in one heat and another one or two good riders in another. I think that there's a lot of potential there. Between the Polish leagues and this meet Dudek doesn't seem as quick this year. Speaking of the Polish Leagues.....Woffington looks VERY fast and his heart seems to be in it. Lingren also looks quicker than last year. -
Poland who will break through.?

Hello uk_martin. Thanks for jogging my not too sharp mind.....in my above post I meant Wozniak. He really was quite impressive in the Championship of Poland! -

Sidney, You're right, last year I saw Woryna win the Polish championship (think that's what it was) and one other event both with the likes of Dudek etc competing. I had not heard too much about him and there he was beating all the big names from Poland. Does show the depth from Poland! -
Who Finishes Where 2018
New Yorker replied to phillipsr's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
My comment is also sort of linked to the "What If" thread......I'm not a huge Doyle fan but I don't think I've heard a lot of comments on just how dominant and consistent he really was. I didn't look it up but I think he only missed one final all season. If he had made five finals and won two events that in my opinion would have been respectable. It seems that many of us were disappointed with last years season and one reason is that every final that Doyle made kept another rider out (obviously) but things didn't get mixed up as much which would have made for a more interesting season. He just had an amazing season and my hats off to him.....if he rides anywhere near his 2017 season I can't see anyone catching him. I really wasn't too disappointed this season.....we saw some great riding with a few surprises along the way and am looking forward to next year. I think Laguta will do better than some might expect and am glad to see him in there. I would swear off speedway for a year to see Emil win it all in 2018......a class act who I think added a lot to last season! -
Sgp Wildcards 2018
New Yorker replied to TheReturn's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I'm going to go with Milik, Lebedevs, Madsen and Piotre Pawlicki. I feel funny saying this (as an American) but if Hancock could give a better interview and be a little sincere once in a while maybe...... Milik: has a descent showing in his GP rides, plus the Golden helmet winner and a very good chance in the SEC. Lebedevs: An exciting rider who would liven things up a bit as seen in the SWC. Madson: When he's on he can ride with anyone.....although inconsistent. But aren't a majority of the current riders inconsistent? Piotre Pawlicki: You won't find a tougher rider, a very good rider and IMO deserves another season. I have to say that I was very impressed with Frick's speed and the Wild Cards performance in the GP in Torun. -
Stockholm Gp 2017
New Yorker replied to Ghostwalker's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Hello Star Lady.....As a youtube watcher in the states (I seem to be a six day a week worker plus I don't think there is a live stream?) so I usually have to settle for Polish or Danish language Saturday evening because for some reason the English version comes out later and I can't wait for it. So I suggest that you try the Polish version a couple times and I guarantee that you will come back to Nigel and Kelvin with open arms!! Overall I enjoy Nigel and Kelvin and think they love the sport as we do. -

Well said Markey. I think sometimes it just comes down to who we are cheering for. Me being a huge Emil fan I was thrilled when Emil passed Kilderman on the inside in the first set of heats I think. It was rather rough I thought but if Peter passed him like that I would have been a little upset. Then to Peter's defense he called it fair play in the interview. Watching Zagar in the last two GP's and also in the league's from what I've seen he's the fastest man on a speedway bike lately IMO. Also Zmarlick is out of control at times but I would miss him if he wasn't in the GP's. I do think he's a little rough at times though. It was a great Final! -
Think about Pawlicki's second heat wreck (no matter whose fault it was) and getting whacked in the head with his bike while it was flying past him on it's way over the fence. Then he pulls himself together in a lot of pain and goes out for his next heat and eventually makes the semi-finals. You can say what you want to and maybe he "worked the ref" with Smollinski but he is one tough kid and not a bad rider. When riders get in these wrecks and are able to walk away we just take it for granted that they will be back out there for the next heat and I'm sure in many cases they shouldn't be. Just went back and watched heat # 2 again: I invite all members down on Pawlicki to watch the slow motion of that wreck 4 or 5 times and envision themselves getting on a moped and going to a "chippy" after that.

I think Milik got a podium with a third place earlier this year in a GP in his only chance. Not bad and not every regular has made the podium this year so I could see him in the GP.

Hasn't been much talk about the August 14 Extraleaga individual that Madsen won. In the final he finished half a straight away in front of Zmarlick, Dudek and (senior moment). I know Madsen has been a bit erratic but if he gets his s... all in the same pile he can run with the best. Maybe someone can tell me why he has no sponsors on his bike. He gets my vote for the GP.
