Belle Vue V Coventry 30th May, 2016

I'm aware of that, but perhaps the club could stand it, to encourage people to buy in advance. If that is going to help. Booking fees always bloody irritate me. -

Im with you in the main, but a slow moving queue isn't exactly ideal. I've opted for print at home but while the extra quid isn't going to break the bank, it irks me. -

There appear to be a lot of seats between the fourth bend and the tapes not allocated. Particularly in the furthest block from the start/finish. Maybe these can be issued as unreserved seating to 'pay on the day' punters, allowing larger groups the opportunity to sit together without a problem. A separate queue, or perhaps a kiosk at the back straight turnstiles for standing patrons, would then see the whole entry process moving along much more quickly. Is this possible? On a happier note, what a fine meeting, the best I can remember in years. It had been a little processional in the two meetings I'd seen so far, so it's a big relief to see what can be served up on our new track. Let's hope this will be closer to the norm rather than the earlier meets (I have seen worse than them though in the past) There were so many great races with multiple passing manoeuvres it's hard to recall them all For what it's worth I thought Garrity was pretty good. I know he is a bit wild sometimes, but I can't help liking his attitude. He shows some real balls and will to win and no little skill on a bike. Anyway, that is what Speedway can and should look like. I can't imagine anybody there yesterday, walked away saying "I'm not going there again" It was good to hear the roar of a crowd again at some of the things going on out there. I was buzzing all afternoon at work at what we saw. More of the same please. -
Three great starts called foul at Poole last night. Cook's first one was just fine and dandy. What's wrong with just admitting somebody made a really good gate?

I thought it added to the tension. Would the tapes break? Would he get away with it? I also don't get why races get called back when somebody takes a chance and gets a flyer

Belle Vue V Swindon 11 May, 2016.

I was working overnight between Yorks and Lancs. It was mostly drizzle and light rain in Manchester, whilst at Midnight and then again at seven this morning, in Huddersfield it was bouncing down.Looking out now, and at the forecast, I'm pretty confident it will be on. Online to buy and print-out some tickets shortly I think. -

Forecast is minging again, rain expected all day. I can see a postponement before dinner time. -

Looks like there is now only a couple hours of rain forecast for BH Monday. Between 1200 and 1400! -
Absolutely spot on. The points system in county cricket is far, far more complicated than Speedwáy. And does any supporter have a Scooby Doo how to work the Duckworth/Lewis method of deciding a game?

How Far Do You Have To Travel?

There are direct trains to Sheffield from York. Maybe tricky getting back mind, but there are v late services Leeds to York so I'm sure it's doable -

You'd think so. But it certainly doesn't look like it. First the meeting was too big, now it's too low key. What on earth do people want? -
Alarmingly Low Crowds
Notenoughnerve replied to remembertheracers's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Absolutely spot on. I dragged a couple of new guys along for the play off final and they loved and will be back. And a bloke who lived in my street, who rarely attends live sport is coming with us to the Bank Holiday fixture. It's because I talk with enthusiasm about it.And no matter what, a good Speedway meeting is still a great spectacle. -
How Far Do You Have To Travel?

I travel 25 miles to watch Belle Vue from Holmfirth. It's less than an hour home, but getting to Manchester in heavy traffic can be tiresome and time consuming. I go on the bike on a decent evening which helps. There are loads in Manchester who 'used to go'. I've wondered for years how you get them back. Surely it's pushing at an open door? -
Belle Vue National Stadium

There does seem to be a different air to the announcements now, with the Colts fixture with Cradley announced for a week on Saturday too. This will all be a distant memory as soon as the racing swings into regular action. The stadium is there and is there to stay. The race track looks big, wide and quick. It is going to be a great facility for both the Aces and British Speedway, whether you like it or not. I find it hard to fathom the negativity surrounding the Aces and the NSS on this forum. I've always wanted all tracks to succeed as we are all part of the Speedway family. I was gutted when Cradley closed, I didn't go on about what a little rat hole it was. When I hear of tracks reopening I see it as good news, Birmingham, Leicester, Scunthorpe and so many more over the years. Even our nearest rivals, Bradford, I'd be made up to hear of returning and I can still get misty eyed at pictures of The Shay. Right now I desperately hope to hear of good news from Cowley or hope for Reading. And the idea of a top flight without Coventry or Swindon fills me with horror. British Speedway can't afford to lose these famous old clubs Make no mistake about it, without the NSS Belle Vue would almost certainly have gone. The Dog Bowl was getting worse and worse season on season and it's hard to see how the ♣ could have continued. This stadium can save the my club but in turn that can only be good for Speedway. It can be a place to provide the country with top class international racing to showcase our sport. Hopefully after a successful World Cup meeting and a full season of racing, this unfortunate start will be just a footnote. Before some of the snipers delight in it again, can I just point out that the forecast for Friday is absolutely minging. It won't be the clubs fault or mean anything more than a standard rain off, if the Colts don't get their home campaign away this week. And despite all the difficulties I've got more anticipation than ever for seeing The ♣ in action. Let's go Racing. -
Belle Vue Grand Opening Refund?

Any meeting that was put on as an opening meeting was going to attract a big crowd. If the job had been done properly it should and would have been just fine. -

Belle Vue Grand Opening Refund?

How many times can it be said. The bottom line is Belle Vue weren't in charge of the whole project. Manchester City Council were. -
Absolutely. I sincerely hope Swindon and Cov get sorted, not just for their sakes but that of British Speedway. We can Ill afford to lose two traditional top flight clubs. Belle Vue will be right soon enough. I'm desperately disappointed about Sundays meeting, but champing at the bit to see some home action rather than angry.

I went. I had already purchased a ticket in advance (as had all the crowd), so I'm not sure what difference opening the gates made.I drank a few beers, had a very tasty burger, had a chat with plenty of people. My ticket will get me into the rearranged meeting, so I don't feel conned. OH, just for clarity, I got the train over from Huddersfield and then the bus down Hyde Rd. I don't feel conned the club haven't offered to reimburse me for that either. It was disappointing on the night mind. This arena will be here for years to come and it will be a great place to watch Speedway. Without it, Belle Vue would probably have closed now. It will be good for the Aces and British Speedway, now quit all the whinging. And gloating ffs.

I was asking because when I went online it only specifies 'standing' rather than any specific area.
