  1. Little bit of advice please. If I book online for the Leicester fixture do I get a choice of where I stand? I don't want to pay on the night as I have a suspicion it will be chaotic, but I'm hoping to meet an old work colleague and fellow Ace on the South Terrace. Any ideas? Oh and for the record I thought my 1/2lb Bacon Cheeseburger at the track was delicious.
  2. I'm pretty sure he said it into camera as he was leaving the pitch
  3. Never hear Rooney swear? Are you having a laugh? He's even been in bother for swearing at England fans after a game.
  4. It's a disgrace that no decision has been made yet. Fans should get at least 48 hours notice. As if you do be so inconsiderate with an outdoor sport that relies on the weather.
  5. The weather over Easter Weekend looks wretched, particularly Monday
  6. If they say it's on, I'll be dashing there after work. This new venture needs the fans backing
  7. I still think that track looked ok. On Saturday through a cider haze it seemed a disaster... . . But in the cold light of day, we still have super new stadium rather than the dog track. We have a track that looked so wide as to encourage great racing, and this is just one more setback that these people have had to deal with. They've got through worse than this, and next week, or the week after, great speedway will take place in Manchester in modern facilities. It seems criticism comes with a sense of glee from certain quarters. Some of the reactions are way over the top

  9. I seriously blame the riders. Sell put crowd and we weren't that bothered what the racing was like. Follow each other round, we wouldn't have minded.. But a good news story has been turned into a bad news one.

  11. It'd a bit early for putting up temporary stands for the middle of summer maybe?
  12. I'd read that too, but they looked two pretty substantial structures, capable of holding several hundred people. A little o.t.t for a handful of riders to view from.
  13. I have to say, I see lots of bleating about admission fees on this site in general and on this thread in particular. Now, my family are grown up and I'm on my way to decreptitude, but when they were little we all came to the Speedway. I first went with my folks in the 70's, it's a family sport. I view 17 sniffs as reasonable to get in for me. I have to say with kids free up to age 12, it makes it a deal. £34 for a family to see top flight pro sport is more than reasonable. I tell people at work the prices at Speedway and they're amazed hear youngsters are free. I watch Premier League football home and away and it's rare to get a single ticket anywhere for less than 35 snots. Even going to the pictures these days will cost a family something similar.
  14. What does this mean exactly? Raised flat terracing? Is that a permanent or temporary thing?
  15. Is there any sign of any terracing on turns three and four? And us the track completed yet? Is there any sign of any terracing on turns three and four? And us the track completed yet? Is there any sign of any terracing on turns three and four? And us the track completed yet?
  16. What's the point of staging meetings on a night that prevents a decent crowd turning out?
  17. That's the crux of it. Family sport, so it really does need to tun at the weekend. When Belle Vue shifted to Monday night it was the start of a slow decline in attendances. I went from going every week to a handful of meetings a season. Looking at the crowd for the Swindon play off match, that would have seemed a poor turn out for a regular meeting not that many years ago. Weekend Speedway with or without the stars.
  18. Belle Vue have rekindled my enthusiasm to a level I haven't had for years.
  19. I wouldn't get too upset about Starman's post. Merely harmless banter I'd suggest. Not particularly funny, nor original it transpires, but when did we get so precious?
  20. I can remember Frank Anderson riding at Belle Vue"s, maybe at the time of Kelly Moran. Always trapped in the mix, couldn't cope with the tight bends and would run out to the fence, endangering himself and anybody else in the heat. Not dirty, just didn't seem to get in with the track.
  21. We seem to have forgotten. It's a family sport and therefore racing at the weekend is best for bringing young fans. I'm delighted Aces have gone back to Fridays, even though my kids have grown up. When I was a nipper the folks took us to Hyde Rd on a Saturday, not a chance we would have gone during the week. Running on a night that suits the fans must be the No1 priority.
  22. Is there only me who doesn't see where the capacity will come from? No terracing at one end, down the back straight looking tiny. No way can I see it holding even close to 6000 unless something fairly spectacular is happening at the 'buikding site end'
