  1. Unfortunately the original fixture takes priority (i.e. the league match).
  2. How? The rules are clear and the same for everyone. Why should Eastbourne be any different?
  3. Looks like Kennett didn't fancy the trip to Newcastle in the final.
  4. The main problem on sunday was that the track was cr*p at the very start. The tractor driver was "doing his stuff" at the request of the referee and the riders ( who weren't happy with conditions from heat 1). At one stage, some of them didn't want to continue, Cookie never got started and Rasmus Jensen was gesturing to the referee that it was too deep on the corners after his first three races, despite winning his third. The guy on the centre green announced after heat 8 that there would be an extensive track grade (and there was) so they would do the interval then. Fair enough. They then had another long interval after heat 12. On top of which the racing was at best poor! The other problem with these meetings is the gap between heat 20 and the semi's, then another gap between semi's and the final. Why can't there be six back wheels with new tyres on ready to be put straight into the necessary bikes after heat 20 and a random draw for gate positions instead of all this inspecting gate positions, putting tyres on bikes, etc. That must of added at least 20 minutes on to meeting (as usual).
  5. We were originally due to go on a Sunday but it was rained off, surprise, surprise. the only free sunday we had since then was yesterday which was the Championship Rider Individual. We don't have any more. Certainly none before the cut-off. There are two home league fixtures left. Redcar and Edinburgh who I very much doubt would cancel as they stand a chance of reaching the play-offs. Our off night, as you put it, is a monday, which the Premiership won't let us use for the same reason they won't let Sheffield use a thursday. Newcastle stadium has dogs every other night of the week. We also still have a cup-final and our 90th Anniversary meeting to arrange.
  6. Wednesday 11 September is the Date Sheffield want Newcastle to come, but I don't believe it is set in concrete yet. Wednesday is a danish league night, and Newcastle have three danes in their side. It would probably depend on their availability. Newcastle were prepared to come on the original date of 29/08 without Thomas Jorgensen but I'd doubt they'd want to come if two or more are missing. Unless we can have Broc Nicol as a guest
  7. To speedway's demise. Bring back a bit more dirt. Bikes should be adjusted to track conditions, not the other way around. Sheffield was deep the other week and Rory Schlein had a hissy fit. He'd have been cr*p in the late 70's (unless he was riding for Eastbourne).
  8. No date yet. I would suspect Newcastle's two danes are unavailable next wednesday, though I don't know. Jorgensen had a danish fixture last wednesday which is why we were using R/R for him.
  9. I spoke to a member of the Newcastle promotion this afternoon and asked if we were at Sheffield next wednesday to book time off work and he said " We are not there so don't bother".
  10. So would Sheffield I would have thought. But they couldn't do that as it would have put them over the 40 point limit as Nicol has a higher average.. Replacing Kemp puts Sheffield on 39.96 whereas replacing Kennedy would have made it 40.15.
  11. He (the ref) possibly did. It is not necessarily always communicated to the public.
  12. There wasn't a valid reason. He informed the promotion at 3.00pm ( for a 7:30pm start away from home) that he was still in Sweden. (His mechanic apparently knew early in the morning that he wasn't coming). That mean' that Newcastle had to go with a NL rider as there was no time to get anyone else (he was deemed to be withholding his services). As it was our last match of the season I have heard he would face a 28 day ban if signs for a team in this country, although I find that a bit hard to believe.
  13. No he's not!. Granted 7.23 is his official GSA, but that is heavily influenced by last season with it being based on rolling averages. His starting GSA was 7.66. His average purely on this years official matches (without bonus points) is 6.51, more than a point below his starting average. It's even worse if you include start of season challenge matches!
  14. I doubt it. His scores have been better than Max's over the last month.
  15. Usual end of season, we're not going to make the play offs, so why bother replacing him, excuse from Mr. Godfrey.
  16. Nobody passed anybody apart from Matty on Morris in his second ride. The track needs to be prepared the way it was for the Edinburgh cup match with more dirt on it. It's been completely different since the Edinburgh fixture ( one of the best meetings, race wise, in years). since then we've had 45 heats of racing with 4 passes (if we're lucky) after the 2nd bend. Put some bloody muck on it instead of it being softy southerners slick as concrete.
  17. 24 hours between races is a lot different to 10 minutes.
  18. And just what would you have done differently? You can only use the reserves to replace under performers in the top 5. Max carrying an injury after heat 2, and probably should have withdrawn from the meeting. Though he was stuffed by TJ in heat7. Do you really think Danny would have done any better than any of the top 5. You can't blame the manager when 3 of the top 5 don't turn up.
  19. Too late. New averages won't come into effect until 01 Sep. Last date for team changes is 28 August to take effect on or before 31 August.
  20. He also had a spell at Newcastle, and was more than slightly miffed when he realised racing for a sunday club would impact heavily on his Sunday continental bookings!!!!!!
