  1. And just what would you have done differently? You can only use the reserves to replace under performers in the top 5. Max carrying an injury after heat 2, and probably should have withdrawn from the meeting. Though he was stuffed by TJ in heat7. Do you really think Danny would have done any better than any of the top 5. You can't blame the manager when 3 of the top 5 don't turn up.
  2. Too late. New averages won't come into effect until 01 Sep. Last date for team changes is 28 August to take effect on or before 31 August.
  3. He also had a spell at Newcastle, and was more than slightly miffed when he realised racing for a sunday club would impact heavily on his Sunday continental bookings!!!!!!
  4. No they don't. Points limit is 40. Redcar team total is 40.72, so they can only replace like for like. Tom Woolley and david Wallinger are both on a 2.00
  5. There could be a change to the Redcar Cubs line-up in the NJL match as, it appears, Brandon Wobleski is ineligible. His scores have been deleted from friday's fixture. not that it made any difference to the result.
  6. I doubt that ANY club in the country is viable in the 1st place without volunteers. I reckon the riders, first aid cover, and the referee are the only people that get paid at practically all tracks. Anybody else might get some travel expenses if they are lucky. Pits staff, track marshalls, etc. are volunteers at every track I know and get free entry at best. Without those guys no meeting, no speedway, end of.
  7. Any change would have to be done before the averages change irrespective of whether they are going up or down. The transfer deadline is before the new averages come into effect.
  8. To be fair if the fixtures had been reversed (i.e. Somerset first) I would be expecting to say the same thing about Anders Rowe. let's be honest in most teams Anders would still be at reserve. So essentially our reserves were better than yours at Newcastle, and the reverse was true at Somerset. That's not including Luke Harris, who unfortunately appears to be a bit out of his depth, and is really only there to make the numbers up (no disrespect intended as his time will come) due to Somerset's top end strength. The main difference was that at Somerset their heat leaders managed to turn it around after an iffy start. At Newcastle ours didn't. Anders is certainly one to watch though.
  9. There was a 45 min torrential downpour at 1:00pm. The A38 outside the stadium looked like a river. I was thinking I've come all this way for nothing. Yet at 6:45pm they were watering the track with the sun shining but some ominous dark clouds threatening all around the stadium. I was surprised how dry it had become by 7:30pm. Lasse blew up his number 1 engine on the stand during the warm-up. In his 2nd ride Rory Schlein put him in the back straight fence though he didn't fall off. In his 3rd he was inadvertently stuffed by Matty who hit a rut on bend 3 and straightened up across the front of him. I've no complaints about Lasse's or any of the diamonds performance. Unfortunately we were 6 points up after heat 6 which allowed the rebels to use a tac sub in place of out of touch Luke Harris. That made the difference between us getting a point (which we deserved) or not. In the bar afterwards, during the rider presentation/speeches, Rory Schlein said "Somerset got out of jail tonight". Nice new Travel lodge 5 minute walk from the stadium now. (You can see the track from the bedroom windows if you are on the right side).
  10. When I was helping a rider in the pits (admittedly quite a few years ago), ALL pushers were provided by the home promotion, so that is quite a valid question. i.e. Were the Glasgow riders pushed off by Eastbourne staff? If so they should have known better than to push them off early. I don't know if that is still the case though. The only other comment I would make is that it is quite possible, or even probable, that the referee issued on the spot fines to certain individuals involved, as well as putting it in his report for further action if necessary. Such fines are not always relayed to the crowd, if the ref requests it, as it is often the case that members of the crowd collect and pay it thus nullifying its effect.
  11. Not really.Redcar agreed to start at this time on a Sunday so as not to impact upon the Newcastle fixture at 18:30.
  12. They didn't announce they'd signed him until the monday. Can't believe the groundwork wasn't inhand beforehand.
  13. You are not allowed to GUEST for two away sides within eight days at the same track. If one appearance is for your own side (in this case Glasgow) then it is deemed to be okay. Not saying I necessarily agree with it.
  14. I seem to remember reading, or hearing, that the required permission re his visa weren't through in time for the cup matches.
  15. Credit to James for putting a shift in at Somerset. Edinburgh (and Glasgow) would have needed to make the necessary notifications to the BSPA by Tuesday evening (72 hours) at the latest for changes to come into effect in time for Friday. Therefore he would have known he was on his way to Edinburgh beforehand.
  16. Like i said it's very unlikely we'll need it (unless we get to the 27th/28th October). Birmingham's alternative race day is a thursday according to their website.
  17. Why not? The regulations state:- 16.1.1 Priority will be given to riders participating in the SGB Premiership League on Mondays and Thursdays. Priority will be given to riders participating in the SGB Championship League on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Nothing to state that they can't run on a Thursday. It just means that any rider who doubles up would be required to ride for his Premiership team if they have a fixture (i.e. Danny King would have to ride for Ipswich if they have a fixture). Redcar already have one meeting pencilled in for a Thursday (all be it a British Under-19 championship). As far as I'm aware Newcastle's reserve date is still a Monday (also a Premiership day) , although we shouldn't need it as we are now the senior Sunday track.
  18. I'll be surprised if it's a Sunday. Newcastle don't have any free Sunday dates until middle of September + a cup final and 90th Anniversary meeting to fit in.
  19. In all cases, with the exception of Thomas Jorgensen the GSA's are adversely affected by the 'rolling average' syndrome. Thomas is the only one who is riding below par. Taking this years averages alone, the other six are all averaging more this season than those figures above. Granted Danny is on the minimum 2.00 whereas his actual average is 1.74 for this year, given it was less than 1.00 last year it's still an improvement. As a team our GSA for this year's figures alone is 42.56. Max is actually averaging over 6.00 and Matty over 7.00 (Matty is over 8.00 when you include bonus points). Losing either of those to injury would be devastating. "Add a rider who hasn't achieved a 2 point average in three seasons". Not exactly true. This year yes (but he's getting there), last year yes. 2017, He didn't get an official greensheet average as he suffered a season ending leg injury after only 4 matches (2H, 2A) so was still assessed at 2.00 at the time. His actual GSA (without bonus points) was 4.5. His average for all matches that year including challenges & KOC [which weren't included in official GSA]) was 5.00
  20. No team changes are allowed after 28th August with an effective date of 31st August. i.e. BSPA must be notified by 28th August of any changes which will become effective 72 hours later on the 31st. This rule applies irrespective of whether a rider has a serious injury or not. If someone is injured after 28th August then it is a guest facility or rider replacement depending on which facility is allowed under the regulations.
  21. Max stays at reserve for August......just! Ulrich 5.12, Max 5.05
  22. 5.26 with effect of 01/08/2019. Somerset are over the points limit, so it has to be like for like. If you make a double change then you need to bring your team limit down to below 40 after the change. For example if you got rid of Todd as well (5.27) then, because Somerset are 0.51 over the limit the two new riders can only total 10.02 and not 10.53.
