  1. So we should ban admission to all those with grey hair? Or perhaps charge them double? Herd them into a section of the stadium where the sight of them does not put off the hordes of eager young new fans? That would be an easy way to discriminate against them despite the fact is that many of them have been keeping the sport going for 40 or 50 years. There really would be only tumbleweed and those few fans still 100% optimistic about how UK speedway is now run, left on the terraces.
  2. Me too, not holding my breath as I don't believe for a nanosecond that the BSPA is capable of coming up with a brilliant cunning plan of any kind. Totally agree with everything else that mikebv wrote. A race to the bottom and to extinction.
  3. Not at all surprised and believe it completely. What it says, if correct, is that neither the BSPA nor UK speedway is "fit for purpose" as a professionally organised sport. The last AGM decided that " all is well" and no change was needed in the structure of the UK sport. Except for a change to a yellow helmet colour forced on them by the rest of the world.
  4. Such "faith" schools are themselves racist and sexist and the existence of any such biased organisation, educating young people should not be permitted.
  5. As we know speedway racing came to us from Australia and naturally the most up to date style of presentation will creep in here ( as they already have done re grading breaks). Bound to catch on here on warmer match days. Stand by to be mesmerised by lengthier tractor racing events.
  6. All very Kenny Everett aka Cupid Stunt "in the best possible interests of the sport".
  7. An immense struggle to be in the Top Four ( of seven ). You couldn't make it up. Feeble 2018 AGM by the BSPA.
  8. Marking out the new track shape is significant progress by UK speedway standards. It's barely 2019 and if the season doesn't need to begin until May, why worry? I am sure the promotion has it all in hand, even if a burst of severe winter weather should crop up and delay the work. There are so few fixtures to fit in these days, three months to slot in the whole season would be OK.
  9. Judging by his record, so far, as The Man in Charge at the BSPA, it will likely crumble beneath his feet while he's looking around believing that the is on top of things!
  10. Very John Lennon! But we can only hope that a non aggressive exchange of views on the sport we all love.
  11. I am sure that this is the case. Buster will feel he has failed to keep the top flight going and even he would likely be devasted when it happens ( in less than 12 months ). Forever the optimist wearing rose-tinted spectacles and feeling the "all is well": in UK speedway - that's Buster. With No Change being the mantra, how can things improve after just a minor reshuffle?
  12. Let's hope it's a personal "happy event" and not a place in the Stars team for 2019. I think he has little to offer in the "top" league.
  13. If Buster owns three clubs, each club gets a vote and the owner will be a powerful voice in how that vote is cast - don't you think? Other figures in UK speedway are clearly unsettled by that development it seems.
  14. I agree 100% Mr webb. And THAT is a major part of the problem " never seems any connection ( with the fans ) from the management." And Buster is at the heart of that, his philosophy is what drives the club and probably at least part of his being "shut off from the world" of those that don't see it his way, comes from his earlier years within the BSPA, when he was the noisy rebel. Lucky him that he could play that role at the time. Having said he could run things better for many years the other promoters, in desperation, let him do it. And it has crumbled to sand in his hands ( not that he would ever admit it ). Now with three votes out of seven in the "top" league, he can carry almost any decision quite easily. Others have criticised that state of affairs in UK speedway ( notably Gordon Pairman ). Oh No, you won't unless I have a problem with my voice. L A M B O.....
  15. But as you know Buster is adamant that this marketing tool will add at least a couple of hundred to the regular crowd at matches next season. It could be even more and that will be the big Christmas present for the club. Be a patient supporter and try not to salivate excessively while you wait.
  16. After losing another £100,000 plus. Probably so.
  17. It's merely Buster's Magic Marketing Method. He believes that the Big Build-Up increases the desire of fans old & news to be there next season. When his mind is made up nothing will ever change it.
  18. You could post this on every thread in every league because who rides where is of no interest to people in the real world ( outside of the speedway "bubble" ) who have never heard of the sport. And yes, if a free-spending, well-financed club like Glasgow can't pull in 2 - 3,000 fans to every match, certainly no-one else can anywhere in the UK.
  19. Oh Yes he did! I watched him set the track record.
  20. More than likely - Yes! What Buster wants, Buster gets. History tells us that.
  21. They are not even looking for answers of any kind as we can see from the "decisions" they made at the 2018 AGM. No change and seemingly no plan as to how to market the sport to attract new supporters ( who might fall in love with it ). Fans have been walking away year on year with what is on offer now for several years. Nothing that seems to be in the pipeline for 2019 will halt that slide or reverse it ( even if it were possible ). It truly is "managed decline" and nothing else.
  22. Get used to Buster's little ways of doing things. He certainly is very unlikely to change his style of doing them.
  23. Not mad, delusional that things will get better re crowds and the attractiveness of speedway racing in the UK.
  24. I wonder what position that held on the AGM Agenda? Did they get around to it?
  25. If Buster runs his group of clubs (nor indeed takes over all the PL clubs ) in the same way as he has King's Lynn - where average crowds have fallen away year on year the end will be very predictable. Whoever owns several or all of them and fails to pull in and develop a new crowd base, it will still all collapse.
