In your dreams I suspect. There is unlikely to even be a Swindon to join next year.

Somerset v King's Lynn KO Cup final 1st leg 17/10/18
waytogo28 replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Clueless King's Lynn once again. Poor thinking or 'cheap" thinking? Agree entirely that MPT has been a key ingredient this season, along with Eric Riss. But the promotion let it all fall to bits, showing that as Master Tacticians they score 2/10. Not to worry there will be a "New Dawn" coming along soon with the 2019 BSPA New Era. Perhaps even a new Stars Anthem? If they pull back these 16 points I'll eat my shorts! -
Zilch. It has no commercial value at all. the back straight toilets might have made £15 for kindling/rubble.

Don't think that he nor anyone else with good business sense ( and the resources ) would buy a club at this point in time. It would be an asset of diminishing value ( unless you owned the stadium and land and could develop it for housing at a later date ). There seems very little real profit in currently owning and running a speedway club as the public has voted with its feet. A Thumbs Down from your likely customers is a very poor incentive to buy into the Uk speedway business.

I can't see that we will hold on to Iversen AND Lambert (R) under the 2019 likely team / league setup. I just hope that we don't have Lambert (S) unless the overall averages are much lower and there is one league ( or a watered down "top" league ). I have been very disappointed with his efforts in 2018 in the Premier League.

It's in his head only. " I really know exactly how I want it to be - honest". But of course, we all have Senior Moments now and again.

Fixture shambles - An annual event
waytogo28 replied to Hawk127's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
I lost interest in going to King's Lynn when they had two doubleheaders ( against the same opposition on both of the nights in question ) having not bothered in the better weather, to race to the cut-off date. The only thing I question on this thread is the title - it's been a shambles from every perspective since at least 2000 and clearly is a planned annual event- part of the BSPA business strategy that sees average crowds dwindle everywhere. -
That means Buster is very likely satisfied with the crowd levels for 2018 when the track provided anything but entertaining racing. Averaging around 1,000 seems to be just what the doctor ordered for KLS then. If that is seen as "OK" then there is little hope for a revival of any kind for UK speedway. Sort of let's settle for what we have got. And pray that fewer walk away than usual.
-
As I see it, there is no hope of a significant revival regardless of whatever plan the BSPA come up with. Managed decline is all that it is now.

It is almost a fossil now in so many places. This may do less harm than carrying on, carrying on as they have for 20 years.

AND make decisions based on " the bigger picture" so that an upswing in the fortunes of UK speedway can begin. Wonderful though it is ( and it is for me ) Tai Woffinden as a Triple World Champion is not going to put bums on seats at tracks all over the country. We have to improve the product, enhance the excitement it offers AND let the world know where we are, in the biggest way the promoters can afford.
-
The Stars had a very good season and all fans of Kl should be pleased. I agree with Steve Shovlar on this point ( unusual for me ) but he is spot on - the reality is as he has written here. We were the Next Best Team and there is only credit in that - certainly no shame.

Somerset v King's Lynn KO Cup final 1st leg 17/10/18
waytogo28 replied to tellboy's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Sadly those in control of the sport in the UK never do look at the bigger picture. I believe that they are incapable of looking at the bigger picture as they are totally immersed in their own macro parochial world. Hence the managed decline of this century will continue until the point of extinction ( ie the death of speedway here, as we know it ). The sport in the UK consists of a group of mercenary riders chosen by those to ride for their team when possible to maximum local gain - sod the bigger picture it seems! -
Lambert to Robins, Doyle to Stars
waytogo28 replied to ZagarRacing's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
There will be no Swindon Robins at the Abbey in 2019 I feel sure. -
The "boy" done good in 2018. That's for sure. More to come too.

One Big League - Problem Solved
waytogo28 replied to Grachan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Let's hope that there are more than eight, even ten say - then, Go Ahead. We need at least eight but that does sound a lot like not much change ( if there are to be three leagues in 2019). The six, eight or ten clubs with higher aspirations need to up their marketing methods considerably if they are to pull in the 2,000 average crowd needed to sustain their team costs. Just popping it on social media will not double the crowd at King's Lynn for example. They have been there, done that and it has failed. -

The other question is if there are only four or five clubs that want to go along this route they should not crush other clubs who might have dreams to copy them but no cash. -
The continuing decline of Speedway
waytogo28 replied to wealdstone's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
That is almost the only way to build up a new" fan base." Long may your efforts succeed! And please gather up some fellow disciples among the other promoters! A fun filled show and 15 heats of exciting quality racing. Yes Please! -
The continuing decline of Speedway
waytogo28 replied to wealdstone's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The problem is How To Engage and Hold other age groups other than Over 60's ( most of whom remember a more glorious past ). Kids can be brought in in the Barry Bishop IOW way much more simply ( with the effort shown there ). 20s to 40s and 40s to 60s is a much more difficult proposition to even get them to take a long look at what speedway offers. -
One Big League - Problem Solved
waytogo28 replied to Grachan's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The other way is to let them go and set up and run teams in the Swedish way ( full of Superstars ) in a league of four teams only one will fail to get a medal every year, so success or near success is theirs from the start. I genuinely don't believe that they will get the 4,000 or so paying spectators for every match to pay for it. Let them bankrupt themselves giving it a go. And let the other tracks run one big league on a much more realistic, UK contracted only riders level and see which one is the more successful setup. There seems to be no one league setup which will suit all. Better to crash those four clubs ( by their own choice ) than destroy the whole sport here. -

If as we hear, there is to be very little change in the league structure of UK speedway in 2019, this is the likely outcome. -
Swindon v Belle Vue. Thursday 27/09/18.

The BSPA think that there is a lot of on track "action" for the fans to watch when the mechanics etc rush out on track dramatically. -

Radical for Rosco and his BSPA chums means bringing in the green helmet colour or adjusting the points limit by 0.5. There will be almost no changes at the 2018 AGM and the withering of UK speedway will go on and on. Let's hope that Freesports goes on offering us European speedway and IMG the GPs.
