  1. I suspect that that is a powerful, often heard/felt feeling which is a major part of the decline of UK speedway. It has been for me. And I know for a number of others too.

  3. Petulance - that is only reason why KK scored 2 from 4 rides on Monday at KL and then this majestic display. That level of poor temperament is what is limiting KK's return to the highest level. He was shameless and arrogant on Monday.
  4. I am sure that you have got it just about right. What a pity that it turned out this way.
  5. Quite a number of Swindon fans may choose to hold on to their £17 than watch this patched up encounter. Unless they adore steamroller wins. If Morley, Doolan and R/R score more than 8 between them I will be very surprised. Reaching 40 will be quite a "team" effort.
  6. What I can't understand is even if the goalposts were moved after the Danish riders were all signed, why not try running on Mondays with a full team instead of those Weds, with several riders missing? Why could not Buster or Brundle told us that that is what had happened and we would be more sympathetic / understanding? No-one has talked to the fans any more than in previous years. Suddenly a Monday was tried ( even running against an England football match ) and a crowd of nearly 1,000 was achieved. Could have drawn a bigger crowd on earlier Mondays. with a full team, if they had tried. Poor tactical thinking is what it comes across as. A much more symbiotic relationship with the KL supporters could have been achieved, which costs nothing.
  7. Close down all tracks for a couple of years and SO many people will protest and sign petitions, join street marches demanding the return of speedway racing in the UK. The national Press and the media will swarm all over it and every track can then re-open to bumper crowds. In the No Racing Era many of the problems of today could be solved with bright ideas for holding the hordes of new fans ( standardised bikes, crisply run meetings etc ). Now it's just an old habit for many, but in a bright New World after the Great Quietness people would really Want To Come. And riders & Promoters would realise just how important fans really are.
  8. I am at this very moment kowtowing to the EOES in deep regret for my frivolous suggestion. I do hope that I am not now banned from entering.
  9. One of British speedway's little quirks I suspect. I can't even blame the promoter over this one because the venue is so strictly controlled. In a niche sport, anything can and does happen.
  10. Very much how I see it too. I was not putting down BMR's efforts. Like you I was trying to highlight why it has all gone wrong, all round ( or it feels like that! ) I too don't want the past but want us to take the best elements from it to build a sustainable future. There is no point in saying us, because 20 or so people hold the future of UK speedway in their hands. On the evidence of the past five to ten years they are not going to be able to develop the future, that most fans want ( will support ) in the UK. Hopefully what emerges from the rubble of the present set-up will be something worth watching that might attract a new audience.
  11. Be nice if it had also come up promptly on the KL website. Fans deserve to be better informed and as soon as there is news to impart. Only the cognoscenti are kept in the picture.
  12. In his only point scoring race on Monday, Andersen looked more and more like losing it around 3 / 4 th bends. He made the same mistake each lap.
  13. It seems not to matter which glamourous, well equipped new promotion comes into any UK speedway club as BMR did. The BSPA seem set on bringing down any "upstart" new promoters who join the downward spiralling UK leagues. And it also seems that nothing can be done to revive interest in league speedway here unless it centres on the weekend and at the old Premier League ( Championship level ). Riders riding here only should make up the new UK league structure. Clubs who feel they MUST run on a weeknight ( Wolves and Swindon?) should be allowed to but it is all a mess otherwise.
  14. So is it set to be 2 Guests and R/R for the Stars on Thursday? Any news on Ty Proctor's condition? Or news on the Guest Reserve?
  15. Clearly, the BSPA don't mind taking a financial hit from falling crowds almost everywhere ( and falling interest levels too ) from their poorly thought through decisions which alienate fans even further after every winter conference. Nothing, it seems can stop them in their lemming-like progress towards killing the sport in the UK - as we know it. They just won't listen - that has been achieved under Buster's rule ( or at least made worse). Eventually, they will of course say " I am taking away my ball and not going to play any more" and blaming the fans.
  16. King's Lynn will do better on a Monday than on a Weds ( because of Danish &others away in Denmark ). Getting 800 to nearly 1,000 running against the World Cup England game was a reasonable result. I think a lot of fans -most of all want to see a full KL team ride. I certainly do.
  17. Another nail in the coffin, hammered by the BSPA themselves. Track staff don't act entirely on their own initiative, do they?
  18. Quite honestly it was so dire in terms of racing and passing, I felt we would have been justified in asking for our money back. If it had not been for the return of Robert it would have been a match worth about £2.50p.
  19. Running matches against England football matches on free TV seems a no brainer but at King's Lynn and Wolverhampton they appeared to have paid the price. I was there at KL and there well less than 1,000 in the place I feel sure. Were no other dates really available?
  20. Of those three I feel confident that only Shanes will do the job for you, if he is available. And after last night KK needs to be put over someone's knee and given 50 hard ones for being a big kid! I know in the world of today we can't do that but perhaps being sacked would do for cheating all then fans who paid hoping to see him race.
  21. On last night's showing he is not up to the level required to be competitive in the Premier League ( before his crash ). I believe a change would benefit the team but KLS have a long held habit of leaving changes too late and of being too loyal to riders they have signed.
  22. Woeful indeed were Rye House and their team structure needs a re-think for next season. Their veteran riders are just about past it away and they have little to offer lower down the team last night. Robson in heat 15 says it all. As for KK it's a good thing for him there is no retrospective action in speedway as he definitely brought the sport into disrepute. He threw his toys out of the pram after being caught out moving at the start in every ride. Cheated the paying fans as I have seen him score a brilliant five ride maximum around Saddlebow Rd in the past. He will never rise again to world class heights with that temperament. The return of the Prodigal Son was wonderful, both in the photo opp. with the British Championship trophy and on track later - There's only one Robert Lambert! Sadly the battle with the first England football match was lost as there were less than 1,000 people there and I don't feel it was because of it being a Monday. Better holding matches on a Monday with a full KL team than on Weds with several riders riding in Denmark.
  23. How Rye House do tonight depends a lot on which KK turns up and which of the old warhorses are able to get into full race mode. Also, which of them can ensure their machinery is up to it, on the pacy Saddlebow Rd track. If Harris has got the right bikes he can still cut the mustard on this track and at his best KK could remain unbeaten. For the Stars, we need NKI to be something like at his best too!
  24. The reality check is that if we hope for speedway to survive in the UK in a league racing structure , we have no option except to go that way. Do without riders involved in the Polish leagues ( whoever they are ) and hard sell weekend racing all over the country. That is the only idea that will work, as the first step to building up crowds and interest in the sport. The world has moved on and speedway has not,
  25. Very little in the areas in which he was said to have expertise. Unless it is a slow burning input and will bloom over the next winter.
