  1. We used the No.8 in the last home match at King's Lynn and while it was a good experience for him he was hopelessly outclassed, but in the event of a fall or an engine failure, he was a backstop. The No.8's I remembered from long ago were likely to be ready to step up into a team place and be at least on the pace.
  2. If the intention is to sell the sport to new fans who may be casual BT, viewers it would be better to show all of the TV matches from the NSS. Racing elsewhere so far has been poor this season. The problem is how to fill up the relatively empty spaces on the terraces, wherever the match is broadcast from.
  3. Only 2 r/r! That is nearly like two full teams - if there really are no guests.
  4. Much more likely to be 50 - 40 as we have virtually no No. 6 and may be without Leis Kerr. Neils is far from is best as yet as well.
  5. Daniel Smith wrote on another thread " "Jonathan wasn't to everyone's cup of tea, but he did always put himself on the front line and stood up to every bullet fired on this forum. Always posted press releases, team changes etc very pronto. He did all the same when on social media too, Twitter and Facebook. Always answered questions, even the questionable moments regarding postponement with opposition fans. Lots of people didn't like him but was very approachable and got things done. While stadium improvements are continuing and the new scoreboard is an excellent edition the sound system has seriously been neglected. " Regarding Jonathon Chapman - he did at least listen or read fan feedback and attempt to do something about it. I was commenting on the same thread " the continuing decline of speedway" that in feedback to the KLS management over three years ago we ( a small group of regulars ) one thing we complained about was the muffled, mostly inaudible rider interviews that should provide some interest in the break between races. This could be improved at almost no cost by tweaking existing gear. But no - one within the promotion is listening to any suggestion put forward. We were not asking for the AFA to be roofed over.
  6. Thank You DS. I suspect you are right as the decline seems to have dated from around that time. Also perhaps the reason we can't hear the riders muffled comments, is the reason the promotion can't hear us?
  7. It could easily be used for a revival speedway team or even a completely new attempt ( ignoring the Badger's years ). There are two problems 1) Very substantial funds would be needed to convince the stock car promoters that the return of speedway would not be a flop ( who wants the quick failure of a sporting launch at your otherwise successful venue ) 2 ) there is no evidence historically that speedway is of much interest to the local public. I lived there for 20 years and went to Coventry regularly ( only 30 miles away ). By the way, Brafield really is Northampton - the town centre is only five miles away but thankfully reasonably far from the local village population. Northampton Knights, take the fancy of a wealthy sponsor?
  8. Feedback they have had at King's Lynn Speedway - by the ton. It is turned into mulch ( can you have digital mulch? ) and used to cover the mushrooms/supporters. Not one simple request/idea has been bothered with. For example, the rider interviews are always muffled and mostly inaudible unless you congregate in the audio sweet spot and it is impossible to gather 864 fans in that tiny area. It takes very little, possibly no expense, to rectify that but no one seems bothered and it has been left as it is for at least three years. Why?
  9. As has been suggested elsewhere on the forum, that the number of fans paying to get in is irrelevant to the finances of some clubs and hence the falling crowds is not a problem - is there some truth in that at KLS? With sponsors and alternative income streams are "crowds" unnecessary at Saddlebow Rd anymore? Is that why the promotion do not feel the need to reach out to supporters? It seems incredible and tragic if that is the case, but some of us get the impression that it may be so.
  10. The art of "spin" aka "The Emperor's New Clothes" syndrome. Hell's Bells - All is Well.
  11. Lambert showed that he could cut the mustard with his last ride, an excellent win.
  12. Buster keeps his team building thoughts to himself. Is he an inscrutable, much-maligned genius or someone who cares little for what the supporters hope for and prefer? We are led to believe that Brundle, Allitt and Chapman spend countless hours locked in boardroom discussions sharing their opinions and juggling the many team options. Long may it be so, even when the terraces are bare. Will sponsors also disappear?
  13. The writing on the wall has been in Very Big Letters for at least 3 - 5 years. But no-one in "power" seems able to read it and act on it. How much further do gates at every club need to fall before they get the message? How low can average gates fall before it collapses in on it self like a Black Hole? Fewer punters must result in even lower club incomes and crucially fewer interested sponsors.
  14. Of course, I too don't want to see KLS die, I followed the Stars at Norwich before KLS opened but there is currently much wrong with speedway, and at King's Lynn, which fans could have a constructive input to. One main reason I retired to King's Lynn was to not have to travel to see the Stars ride. But I was young and foolish then! I have advocated that on here and emailed the suggestion - politely - to the club in the past and of course received no answer. I would love to join a group of fans who have concerns ( NOT to rant and rave ) but the impression is that Buster is not open to the idea. Why doesn't Robin Brundle meet with fans who have concerns, if Buster does not feel able to?
  15. I thought that this concussion "ban" was across all leagues / countries and was being closely monitored ( as it should be ). For the safety of all riders.
  16. Just be straight up and honest please, rather than defensive and implying everything in the garden is rosy. I haven't' gone this year ( before last Monday) because of there not being a full team.
  17. There has been some suggestion on here that fans with strong views on how their local club is run might be banned. I have never been offensive and have offered many more constructive comments than critical ones. It would not make much difference if I was banned by King's Lynn Speedway because I no longer care much if I go or not. I went last Monday to embrace my current Hero Robert Lambert and get a photo with him and the British Champion's trophy. Is that the action of a speedway supporter who doesn't care? Three years ago I cared desperately that Robert would stay on with the Stars, having watched him start in the National League. But the decisions taken by the promotion over the past few years have sadly dulled my enthusiasm for the club. Their apparent lack of interest in and involvement with the fans has seen many others walk away as well. I still have my Supporters Club membership card from 1968 and that prompted me to re-join 50 years on, perhaps as a kind of farewell. Rock On Ruthless, wherever you may ride in the future, I'll be cheering as usual.

  19. Sounds like the damage is done. And does it help to mention "whether he means it or not" re an apology? Bit pointless, if it's not sincere it's worthless.
  20. I agree with you to some extent but, the list of defunct clubs is extensive.
  21. I suspect that one of the concrete rules that you sign up for as a Promoter ( with the BSPA ) is Say Nothing, Tell No-One, play the We Have Nothing to Add card at all times. Far, Far stricter than the Magic Circle! Fans! Who needs them!
  22. There will be several clubs not running very soon, so less riders needed. Sad but true.
