Berwick 2017 50th Year
happyvalleywoolerman replied to balderdash&piffle's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I agree there were more on Saturday than at BenFund we thought between1500 and 2000 which is huge for Bandits although the 2500 figure quoted by Deirdre Barlow is a bit of nonsense. Great night and run very smooth and quick from Ken Taylor cutting tape to Clause jumping on the podium in the rain. -
At Berwick, public were allowed to watch FIM practices, but held a raffle among spectators which was in aid of the BenFund, not the promotion and there is never a charge for watching regular p&p. No you havent. You have very much improved facilities, and we liked what we saw at Benfund meeting but to try and boast you have the best facilities in British speedway is a joke because Sheffield have a much better bar and restaurant and Ipswich have the best viewing and the tracks at Scunthorpe and Somerset are usually considered among the best. Maybe you meant to say you have the best facilities in Scottish speedway.

Very pleased to see the place looking good and riders kitted out in suits last night, with Lewis Bridger absolutely flying I thought. We could well have a very good year. -
....but in the West of Scotland, April 4th!

Will Edinburgh also own Max Fricke as I was told Belle Vue had never paid for him.
-
If they get the same size crowd it will make more money as Glasgow own the stadium and wont charge rent.

Will be interesting to hear what Nigel and Kelvin have to say about SkyTV pulling out of speedway when we have them here on Saturday night. -
No he didn't.

We liked the bit in THE DIRT on the new website where they called a Bandits promoter a snakeoil salesman and a mountebank. -
Aaron Summers will be riding at Berwick on Saturday 18th so not likely to be at Glasgow that day

Revamped Bandits website is worth a look with smart features and writing by Mythman and others -
Wooler's not exactly a main centre of civilisation but we get our Speedway Star mostly on a Friday or sometimes Saturday but never as late as Monday although never as early as a Thursday.
-
So tell me is his Premier average going to be the exact same figure to come back into the Championship and if he does go down to a low figure for Lions is that what he'd come into our league again with?

End of an era if Dick goes but all things pass and new men will know they need to keep matches going and never leave us not knowing what has happened to cause delays because Dick always told us what and why -

We've been looking at lists and we see we are at Peterborough on a Friday which is May 15 but sadly not Thursday track the night before. -

Councillors would never force speedway out of Berwick as it brings visitors to the town for FIM events and also because they'd face being voted out if they didnt publicly support Bandits. Any redevelopment would need to include a future for speedway. -

At Berwick I expect to have a great night's entertainment every Saturday for their fiftieth season of speedway seeing racing and having fun chatting with my pals while watching close racing. -
Air Fences Lifting
happyvalleywoolerman replied to martinmauger's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
The future should be the foamfences like at Berwick and now Glasgow too. -
Didnt think Monarchs would get it wrong that's more of a Somerset speciality isnt it.
-
Not much of a secret and according to Dick Barrie the only Australian worth getting this year but glad he's coming north anyway
-
Have to agree and hope the wonderful improvements can be continued by a big change for backstraight viewers which is more important than lights and screens when half the night meetings will be in daylight anyway.

How does that work out?
