Have been to edinburgh and seen the box high above the first bend its as good a view as the referee and for years have read mr hunters match reports their is no one more biast than him.thats my view and i respect yours .

I switched the sound down after the first ht J sedgeman jumped the start broke the tapes and mr ( edinburgh riders never do anything wrong) hunter with the best view in the stadium never saw it !

last year the comets were racing they had a double header the rugby club charged 2 weeks rent ,u get no favours from landlords in this game .

50 yrs to the day and date can u remember comets fans what u were doing, i was 12 and on the sunday before mother made us go to sunday school at st michaels and we could here this noise coming fron derwent park,so we sneaked in over the infamous sewer pipe and saw out first bikes going round ,the noise and the smell was fantastic. Jeff brownhut saw us and we asked if we could get in for nothing on friday night he laughed and said stand at the pit gate and we would get in,true to his work a load of us kids got in that night and that was it we were hooked.i wish i could remember more apart from standing next to the safety fence and soon moving after the first race.Both ian and jeff are no longer with us but i and many others owe them a lifetime of memories and of course thanks to Tony mole i often wonder what us kids would have done without the comets in our school days, cycle speedway tracks everywhere bikes picked up at hanrattys scrap yard trips away to many other tracks,its a crying shame my grandkids who luved going will not have the pleasure we had as kids following our heros. so heres to 50 yrs and hopefully one day the Comets will rise again. Give us C etc .

First time i saw him in the pits at derwent park i thought he should be in junior school , he looked very young but he could ride a bike i thought he could have gone far in the sport.

the flag man at workington got hit by mal mackay and geoff maloney during a tight finish as a result he must have got some insurance because he started a taxi company but more inportant he was the first on out street to get a colour tv so all us kids went to watch it,the picture wasnt that good but worse my hero ivan was wearing black leathers to blend in as he said later.watching now on utube its great to see ivan wind bernie up before the run off colin pratt allways maintains ivan should have been excluded, now if only the grand prix had that much atmosphere .

the fiery aussie as he was known used to blast round the boards when the track wasnt as wide as it is soz was now,him and lou in ht 13 used to team ride and am sure talked to eachother as they went round.

not wishing to disagree but i think mal broke his leg in 74 came back in 75 it broke again when he fell at derwent park but yes r/r was used in 76 for him.
