Slovenian Grand Prix
Rob B replied to driver17561's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Yep we flew into Trieste last year, dead easy to get to the E70, turn left out of the airport, left at the roundabout, straight over the next roundabout and then right onto the E70 towards Trieste. Just keep following the E70 and it is signposted Slovenia & Ljubljana, over the border (we didn't even get stopped last year) and keep following E70/A1 all the way to Ljubljana, motorway/dual carriageway all the way and a beautiful drive through the mountains. Few parts of it are toll road but doesn't cost much, took us about one hour 20 mins last year. Tip when going back fill up your car in Slovenia before you cross the border, fuel cheaper then in Italy. Lots of bars in the centre of Ljubljana, especially by the river. -

QUOTE (Rob B @ Apr 16 2008, 11:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is Andreas Jonsson riding on a Polish license or is that a mistake? Can any of our Swedish or Polish friends confirm this? -

There is a marquee behind the main grandstand which normally has a band playing etc. -

Slovenia (where To Stay)
Rob B replied to janey2's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Pete, Slovenia changed to Euros last year so everywhere only takes euros now, not SIT. -
I'd say its definatly going to happen in the near future.
-
Probably not all blocks up for sale at once.

Slovenia (where To Stay)

We did it from Trieste last year and it was fine, off top of my head took 1 hour and 20 mins from Trieste to Ljubljana (lots of hotels) and about 1 hour 30 mins from Ljubljana to Krsko. Roads are very good now in Slovenia, nearly dual carriageway all the way, couple of tolls but petrol is very cheap. If you want any directions send me a PM. -
Two years ago we had tickets for back straight and got their early about 4.00 but couldn't find anywhere to seat decent (apart from front row where you couldn't see a thing) as it was all reserved by the Poles, each block seemed to have their own leader, we ended up standing up at the back which was a very good view but just tiring on the legs standing for 6 hours. If was going again would book reserved seats on the first bend.

About 3-4 weeks before the GP I think.

Zagreb To Krsko By Rail
Rob B replied to racers and royals's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I would of thought it would be taking a risk getting back, normally if a GP runs to time it will be finished about 9:45 but if there are a few reruns can go on quite a bit later then you have to find a taxi to get to the station. We have always hired a car, they are cheap over there and petrol is cheap too, easy to park at the stadium. -

Rob B replied to TwoMinuteWarning's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Copenhagen capacity was 42,305 when the GP took place but now been reduced due to 34,000 while they build a new stand. Gelsenkirchen is 53,804 Wroclaw 35,000 Bydgoszcz 20,000 -
Apparently riders weren't too happy beforehand :
-
Was close in the end though!
-
So does anyone have the final standings, did Screen keep third place overall or dropped down?
-
Try this thread only 6 down. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/ind...showtopic=37658

You must be walking very fast to do it in 40 minutes plus its up hill on the way there, but downhill coming back.

No doubt the easiest to get to for flights, transport and amount of hotels available is Prague. Cheap flights from all airports no need for car just use underground and trams, loads of hotels and apartments.

Speedway Star Travel Club
Rob B replied to spiegal's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Yep exactly and that was my point in how much profit travel plus are making, but like I said I suppose its good for single people to go on if they want to spend the money to be with others. -

£200? Don't think its ever cost us more then £150 to do a foreign GP, nowadays we do them for around £100! I see the advantage of the likes of Travel Plus for the single person etc wanting to go abroad but I still think they rip off to make a profit. Years ago Peter Ballinger use to organise trips to Slovenia and Norway and sorted out all the transport with coaches & hotels and charged less then half the price of Travel Plus. -
In the next couple of months I'd say. No rush, never sells out.
-
Probably, this year I could lean over and nearly tap Tomasz Gollob on the head.
-
Just had an email from them saying that rows 1 & 2 are not available now as they are covering them up for health & safety reasons, not too happy about it but can't do much about it, don't know why they are being covered up they are about 10 foot off the ground and have the pits inbetween the track.

Last year we were in D2 and was above Gollob/Andersen. This year we have gone for C2 so we are above the top guys.
