  1. Once you admit to needing more than one tyre per meeting at some tracks, you are admitting that the tyres are not fit for the purpose they were purchased for. It's a little known fact that for this year there have been "special compound tyres" available at the "troublesome tracks". You couldn't make it up. This is supposed to be a sport with an homologated one tyre rule. If rider safety is the number one priority, then either get rid of the one tyre rule or have a better tyre that will do exactly what the Mitas used to do. I would hate to think how many pictures there are running around the SCB offices of tyres like Basso's. I say that because I know there are a lot. an awful lot. But no, they put out a bulls##t excuse like running out of tyres as the reason for the abandonment. I just think last night the balance tipped and someone in authority actually got scared of killing someone.
  2. The tyres not being fit for purpose has been known about since pretty soon after the Anlas tyre started to be used. The ONLY reason additional tyres were being used at some tracks for the last two years is because of excessive tyre failures at those tracks. But tyres were failing all all tracks to some degree. The Mitas tyres used previously suffered from a gradual wear and catastrophic failures were rare. The facts to consider are as follows: British speedway agreed a contract with Anlas for Tyres. A large amount over a long term. This was a big money contract. These tyres have been proved as not fit for purpose. (british speedway needs a tyre to last for one complete meeting, not two races) If these tyres were supplied on the basis of being able to last a meeting, then why haven't they been returned and refused as not fit for purpose? You have to wonder? If you buy something for a specific reason and it's not up to the job, then you return them? But no, this has been constantly covered up, extra tyres issued, riders told you can't put pictures on social media etc The problem is simple. In order to deal with the situation, some people need to admit they were wrong and have been shovelling this under the rug for 2 years. But the cover up has been going on too long. people have too much at stake to admit, they signed a flawed contract, for a flawed product. The only way they will be flushed out is in a coroners court and I really hope that it never comes to that.
  3. Squads cost money. And uk speedway won’t invest
  4. Starke is the potential weak link I'm afraid. One minute he can be great and really make a contribution, the next he's breaking down or dog slow. You'll always get 100% effort on track, he's brave as they come. But he's had the same short comings for pretty much all his career. If he gave the same effort in the workshop as he does on track he would have achieved so much more. You can't constantly turn up rebuilding bikes in the pits before meetings and expect to not have issues. Sometimes you get away with it, sometimes not. Number 2 is a hard place to ride, and at home having 6,8, & 10 with little respite between is hard on equipment. But until that leopard changes his spots, the inconsistencies will remain
  5. I think there's a better bulk deal on air horns in September, so maybe that's why?
  6. But as they are the governing body, I doubt anything will change anytime soon.
  7. Completely agree, wolves used to be a great track when there was the Karlsson corridor AND an outside line. Now the outside line has all but disappeared it's just 4 guys fighting for the kerb most of the time. In the past used to get to around heat 6 and the outside developed and riders could ride the track "big" and then you had some terrific battles. Whilst I understand a lot of the home riders want it how it is now, and I get that winning teams and home advantage etc is important, it has lost a lot of it's entertainment value.
  8. The truth is you'll never know. There are plenty of occasions where air fences have lifted and caused much bigger injuries than a poly-foam fence. Chris Holder's career was effectively ruined by one in 2013. So each fence has it's merits, and it's downsides. The FIM approval procedure is, I would suggest, considerably more involved and scientific, than some of the numbskulls on here and on Twitter. A safety fence cannot eliminate injuries. It helps to prevent them or minimise them. If any rider and some do, choose to take such a big risk, that they'll end up in the fence and expect to walk away, then I would say they are misguided. The inclusion of body armour, air jackets, air fences etc have made the sport so much safer, but some do seem to expect to have a right to walk away from any crash. I think the overall upshot from Saturday will be ( and I hope not) a move to have such meetings on a more traditional track, which can provide much less of a challenge to some of the leg trailing throttle jockies we seem to have bred.
  9. Maybe we should get rid of merit, so speedway can fill it's diversity quotas.
  10. did you have to mention turds floating to the top, Shovlar has just woken up
  11. Wasn't referring to you specifically at all mate, just a general observation about some of your fellow fans
  12. Unless you're from Belle Vue in which case all other tracks are rubbish
  13. Jack just showed just how much he hates Tungate
  14. To be fair he didn't get in the way any more than Wozniak and Kubera have this evening
  15. 5 minutes of Dave Rowe and Michael Max and they'll be offering compensation not just a refund
  16. You can't just ride it flat out everywhere, you have to think and respect it.
  17. I reckon the stream will work out pretty cheap in the end. £1 an hour I reckon
  18. If it goes on much longer Wozniak will miss his flight
  19. Just don't do too much gardening at the gate
