Eastbourne v Glasgow (League) 18/5/19
HGould replied to eaglesno1's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Not sure how Eastbourne could gone to CL + not included Eddie Kennett his average will in next few months reach a true level probably around 8.50. Lawson and Kerr give them a very good top 3. It's easy to come up with "names" and being a Saturday track not easy to attract people like Adam Ellis / Bradley Wilson-Dean, Nick Morris who may have been options for them with Lakeside and Eastbourne links who are trying to get rides and are getting rides in Poland. They will likely replace Brennan temporarily as he is now 4th in averages but I don't think they'll want to use RR for a month, like all Clubs they will get benefit of increase in points limit from 38 to 40 after June 30th. They are also in Shield semi and likely KOC R2 so if they can arrange those for after 30 June could be a side to be very wary of in latter stages of both Competitions; especially if they focus on those as targets. Counter with Brummies who I support who are already out of Shield and likely out of KOC and realistically a tough League Campaign ahead. When CL season ends don't think 1 point losses to Glasgow and Leicester will look too bad v likely Top 4 which I think will be those 2 plus Berwick and Redcar. -
Eastbourne v Glasgow (League) 18/5/19

Been there twice with Brummies and very big Crowds both times, can only think on the night a lot of counter attractions like FA Cup; GP Speedway and Eurovision. They seem to be having issues with their track though which can't help them in the long run. -
Thank the Lord for Brian Buck and some honesty and sanity. May be the Mason should appoint Brian to guide them on PR! The fact is that IF they had announce "we cannot run this meeting as it would be a financial disaster" they would have been telling the truth and would not have lost faith. As Brian points out, the opponents (Eastbourne) had agreed to the request and rearrangement, so why not just tell it as it was. Hopefully David or Peter or Laurence or all of them will deliver the "holy trinity" apology on the Centre Green on Wednesday, a bit of humble pie and humility and then we can move on...

Birmingham enquired about BW-D told quite firmly he is focusing on Poland and would not be able to ride Saturday or Sunday in UK .

Eastbourne v Glasgow (League) 18/5/19

Wishing Tom Brennan all the best, spoke to him when at Arlington and a nice lad. Not surprised their crowd was down with Speedway GP 1st Round and Cup Final and Eurovision and believe they have been excellent down there so far. Tough to reshuffle a team with average north of 42. Seen Alf Bowtell a few times, great starter and period at reserve and winning races he should be fine, Wood I've never thought CL standard and Morley is a decent NL reider who looks to have stagnated. They always seem to have a pipeline of talent may be Daniel Spiller and Jason Edwards for the future ?? -
seen Bowtell a few times this season, fast starter and I think a very good propsect. Missing an NL berth to give him confidence like and will thrive at reserve I think. If Eastie could find a replacement for Morley would be very potent away not just at home. I understand why he rides 3 and gets Kerr in to Heat 14.

Ipswich v Poole; Supporters Cup; Thurs 16/05/19
HGould replied to SteveLyric2's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I have to say if I went to a Speedway Meeting and got turfed out after 15 rushed Heats in 60 mins I would feel short changed and somewhat disrespected. I think for a 15 Heat match with no major delays that 75-90 minutes is fine. If there are a few re-runs and an injury up to 2 hours is understandable. A lot depends on the weather of course but on a nice sunny evening up to 90-105 mins is perfect... -
Photographers in British Speedway
HGould replied to GreenLightGo's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
If Taylor Lanning has a License and takes good pictures and wants to try to make a living out of it fair play to him. Fair play too to the older Track Photographers, if they have a gripe only fair they are allowed to gripe. I think all are missing bigger culprits. Those who get licensed, have no interest in Speedway, more adding to "a portfolio" and who then flood social media with 100's of pictures from meetings they attend that they don't try to sell or pass on but which are just self publicising their own website or business. Some of them are very good but they are bigger threat to dedicated Speedway only photographers in my opinion. -
The key word in this whole episode is "Trust". If the Promotion had come out at the weekend and admitted that there would be no Guest facility for Adam as the meeting v Berwick was rained off then they would have had the trust of supporters in being open and honest. I know for a fact a Guest was booked and then the Management was told he could not ride as Adam had not completed an Official Fixture. So on Tuesday morning we are fed a cock and bull story. I have no doubt that had the Guest been allowed that there would have been no electrical issues. This is where "Trust" comes in. If on Tuesday we had been told "we have applied for a guest but can't have one so have to use a NL rider so have decided to not race" it would have been the truth and trust would not have been lost. Various claims have been made about "evidence of proof" that there has been an issue. I can only go on my own evidence, ringing the Office and being told "no comment" and when I asked if there was a power issue, and asking a Member of Track Staff who I know quite well; who said and I quote "if you sneaked in and tried the power I'm sure it would be OK". I can't and wont name names and therefore I have lost "trust". It is up to every individual to make their own minds up, it is a free country and a free choice but this has left me both having lost trust and faith, less likely than I was to go to every home meeting and also very fearful for the future of the Brummies under the current regime, and sadly, I don't see any other options in terms of someone coming in on the horizon. The Club has in the past had excellent PR and excellent Commercial people in place, I would suggest right now that they find a proper PR man and not a paid employee of the media company milking half the teams in the League for nothing more than a bit of cutting and pasting and also a full time Commercial Manager to replace Lee, who did a great job but who obviously now has far bigger things on his hands at Swindon.

He is in Poland on 25th with the others in U21 Semi Finals that night as 3 different meetings across Europe. If he rides at Glasgow tomorrow and Eastbourne Saturday he gets his 4/4 to get proper average and on current numbers would be 4th highest average on 25th May when he could be replaced by a Guest or RR.
-
Thanks for clarifying that'll help me work out brummies team LOL..in case of Brennen I think that means after he rides at Glasgow away and home to them he will have done his 4 / 4 stint and will move in to the Team.
-
The truth is always the right way and we have been fed a load of bull. If you are happy to call the truth boring then that's up to you. As a lifelong Brummie supporter and regular home and away I am not happy with being fobbed off, I prefer the truth, and I will make my feelings known to the Promotion in a polite but firm manner when I get the chance.
-
May be a set number of home and away matches so not clear cut??? He may be number 4 or 5 in your averages by next weekend if you reach average cut off on matches.
-
This is OTT However, IF The Promotion had come out and told the truth, they would have a far more conciliatory hearing and understanding from supporters of Birmingham and other Clubs. This made up baloney is the issue, not the postponement itself.

Watched that interview and what a contrast with my Club Birmingham, we did after all both come up from NL, and from my NL days I think similar crowds around 600 - 700. Our crowds have gone down I feel, Eastbourne's based on Cooks comments have near doubled - why?? how?? and what has transformed one Club not the other?? Everything Eastbourne have done since Cook and Jordan took over is upbeat, positive and backed by some commercial flair it seems. They have "had a go" Everything Birmingham have done seems to be half hearted, half baked and "make do". We definitely miss Lee Kilby not being full time on our Commercial side. "we are stagnating" You tend to get out of anything what you put in and fair play to Eastbourne, I can only hope that the Masons find someone to do the Commercial side at Birmingham in a similar style to Eastbourne, a bit of effort goes a long way
-
Doesn't really matter what time Dog Racing happened, it happened and I too have called Stadium this afternoon and have had a similar "no comment". It stinks and I agree 100% with previous poster, if they had told the truth, it would have caused a day of social media moans but would have been forgotten, this is a different level of excuse that just does not stack up.
-
of course it did and this is why things don't add up. the only area it would seem there is an issue, if there is an issue is speedway Pits - a simple generator or a simple electrical re-wire from parts of the stadium that are OK would solve the issue. The Dogs have full catering and restaurant open, so a far greater electrical load as most of it is closed on speedway nights. I'm no electrician but a hare rail surely no more load than a starting gate?,
-
Western Power is doing prep work for Commonwealth Games Village etc and increasing powering for overall infrastructure. If this was an issue last week how come last weeks match was not called off due to electrical work instead of rained off? At least we know that was a genuine rain off. If this is an issue how come Dogs have been on every meeting? The Power Supply from Western Power would not be specific to one small area of a large stadium. If it is just the Pits Area why not hire a generator, a few hundred quid?? Sorry, I'll back Brummies to the hilt but this is frighteningly like 2014 and we don't want a repeat of that, and I don't want us fans being taken for mugs either. Re the point about not allowing a Guest facility. The rules are clear, if you re-declare you cannot have a Guest until a new rider has ridden a match. If the SCB grant us an exemption they have to do it for everyone. We could have Teams re-declaring and signing riders just to get a Guest for a vital match. Brassed Off!

The icing on the cake. This-: https://www.eastbourne-speedway.com/match-off-cup-tie-at-birmingham/ came out a good 10 minutes before this-: http://www.birmingham-speedway.com/news.php?extend.2807 sloppy by the Brummies. Can't blame Eastbourne at least they seem to care about their supporters.

I should have bought a Lottery Ticket. As transparent trying to con the supporter base goes this one is crystal clear. Lost all respect now for the Masons. If they have made a mistake moving up, they should come out and admit it and seek help. To screw over their own diminishing supporter base will be the final straw for many. Not good and I'm totally disillusioned. I have to ask, how many more Wednesday's will Adam Ellis be unavailable for, and is he a cheap signing to cover over cracks?
-
I hope that they will just man up, ride with a weakened team, get it over and done with and then move on.
-
I have a feeling we are going to find another meeting cancelled if they aren't allowed a Guest for Adam for some cock and bull reason; this time the salvation doesn't seem likely to come from the Clouds so will be interesting to see what they come up with this time. Would be financial suicide to have got rid of 2 riders, bought 2 in and then have to race without the new no 1 in first meeting since with some NL recruit at reserve and another NL Guest in for Adam, as I believe if not allowed Guest can't use RR either. Would be a bad deal for supporters if it was a League match, a KOC Tie v a team 20 odd points up who thrashed us on our home track just a couple of weeks ago is suicide by slow death surely. What a mess!
-
might need a rain forecast or some act of god in that eventuality??...can't afford to keep having poor crowds and Eastbourne again with such a deficit is hardly going to get people out is it??.
-
You should feel at home in the midst of a Trading Estate Track there is superb now that "Terry the Track" is doing it. Should be a good meeting.
-
anyone know if Adam is riding on Wednesday?. been told he may be riding in Denmark?
