  1. The truth is always the right way and we have been fed a load of bull. If you are happy to call the truth boring then that's up to you. As a lifelong Brummie supporter and regular home and away I am not happy with being fobbed off, I prefer the truth, and I will make my feelings known to the Promotion in a polite but firm manner when I get the chance.
  2. May be a set number of home and away matches so not clear cut??? He may be number 4 or 5 in your averages by next weekend if you reach average cut off on matches.
  3. This is OTT However, IF The Promotion had come out and told the truth, they would have a far more conciliatory hearing and understanding from supporters of Birmingham and other Clubs. This made up baloney is the issue, not the postponement itself.
  4. Watched that interview and what a contrast with my Club Birmingham, we did after all both come up from NL, and from my NL days I think similar crowds around 600 - 700. Our crowds have gone down I feel, Eastbourne's based on Cooks comments have near doubled - why?? how?? and what has transformed one Club not the other?? Everything Eastbourne have done since Cook and Jordan took over is upbeat, positive and backed by some commercial flair it seems. They have "had a go" Everything Birmingham have done seems to be half hearted, half baked and "make do". We definitely miss Lee Kilby not being full time on our Commercial side. "we are stagnating" You tend to get out of anything what you put in and fair play to Eastbourne, I can only hope that the Masons find someone to do the Commercial side at Birmingham in a similar style to Eastbourne, a bit of effort goes a long way
  5. Doesn't really matter what time Dog Racing happened, it happened and I too have called Stadium this afternoon and have had a similar "no comment". It stinks and I agree 100% with previous poster, if they had told the truth, it would have caused a day of social media moans but would have been forgotten, this is a different level of excuse that just does not stack up.
  6. of course it did and this is why things don't add up. the only area it would seem there is an issue, if there is an issue is speedway Pits - a simple generator or a simple electrical re-wire from parts of the stadium that are OK would solve the issue. The Dogs have full catering and restaurant open, so a far greater electrical load as most of it is closed on speedway nights. I'm no electrician but a hare rail surely no more load than a starting gate?,
  7. Western Power is doing prep work for Commonwealth Games Village etc and increasing powering for overall infrastructure. If this was an issue last week how come last weeks match was not called off due to electrical work instead of rained off? At least we know that was a genuine rain off. If this is an issue how come Dogs have been on every meeting? The Power Supply from Western Power would not be specific to one small area of a large stadium. If it is just the Pits Area why not hire a generator, a few hundred quid?? Sorry, I'll back Brummies to the hilt but this is frighteningly like 2014 and we don't want a repeat of that, and I don't want us fans being taken for mugs either. Re the point about not allowing a Guest facility. The rules are clear, if you re-declare you cannot have a Guest until a new rider has ridden a match. If the SCB grant us an exemption they have to do it for everyone. We could have Teams re-declaring and signing riders just to get a Guest for a vital match. Brassed Off!
  8. The icing on the cake. This-: https://www.eastbourne-speedway.com/match-off-cup-tie-at-birmingham/ came out a good 10 minutes before this-: http://www.birmingham-speedway.com/news.php?extend.2807 sloppy by the Brummies. Can't blame Eastbourne at least they seem to care about their supporters.
  9. I should have bought a Lottery Ticket. As transparent trying to con the supporter base goes this one is crystal clear. Lost all respect now for the Masons. If they have made a mistake moving up, they should come out and admit it and seek help. To screw over their own diminishing supporter base will be the final straw for many. Not good and I'm totally disillusioned. I have to ask, how many more Wednesday's will Adam Ellis be unavailable for, and is he a cheap signing to cover over cracks?
  10. I hope that they will just man up, ride with a weakened team, get it over and done with and then move on.
  11. I have a feeling we are going to find another meeting cancelled if they aren't allowed a Guest for Adam for some cock and bull reason; this time the salvation doesn't seem likely to come from the Clouds so will be interesting to see what they come up with this time. Would be financial suicide to have got rid of 2 riders, bought 2 in and then have to race without the new no 1 in first meeting since with some NL recruit at reserve and another NL Guest in for Adam, as I believe if not allowed Guest can't use RR either. Would be a bad deal for supporters if it was a League match, a KOC Tie v a team 20 odd points up who thrashed us on our home track just a couple of weeks ago is suicide by slow death surely. What a mess!
  12. might need a rain forecast or some act of god in that eventuality??...can't afford to keep having poor crowds and Eastbourne again with such a deficit is hardly going to get people out is it??.
  13. You should feel at home in the midst of a Trading Estate Track there is superb now that "Terry the Track" is doing it. Should be a good meeting.
  14. anyone know if Adam is riding on Wednesday?. been told he may be riding in Denmark?
  15. Don't know who she is but on TV there was some high pitched voice shrieking after every race giving results- can't be Natalie Quirke as she was in TV studio??
  16. Looked some decent races on BT Sport. Their camera work is abysmal at times though. French boys very unlucky and Becker looks a mini Hancock in the making.
  17. Don't think that's right as some of the fixtures they failed to complete were Away matches? As for Coventry be great to see them back especially as it looks like Cradley Heath have given up trying to find a new Track. Shown their programme for first meeting by a Heathen supporting friend and it appears that Mr Pearson and Patchett have confirmed they have decided to stop looking for new venue, happy to let someone else try and will just go season by season in National League..
  18. reserves battles will be key in my opinion. very close could go either way on the night and on aggregate. a belter!
  19. This is all great news and very welcome. I don't want to be a party pooper though but there is a huge turd in the way still here. A stadium that has been effectively ransacked by previous Owners, vandalised by various individuals and Groups of individuals and a massive capital outlay required to get it in to any kind of condition to stage speedway or stocks again. I do wonder if the most cost effective option may be to demolish and remove everything and then build from foundations up as Somerset / Leicester have done, slowly and steadily. It would NOT BE Brandon of old, but it may be a more cost effective and quicker way. What is needed though are Stock Car and Speedway Promoter(s) and people to work together to create something new. As with other venues it may require Stocks to lead the way. There is a huge amount of support and affection for the name and brand "Coventry Bees". There are some great ideas starting to emerge at Clubs all round the UK from IOW / Eastbourne in the South through Leicester / Sheffield /Belle Vue and up to Glasgow further North; and many other points in between, some of that marketing dust is required at Coventry and it'll need a Group not an individual I think to bring it to fruition. My best wishes to the Bees.
  20. I think some are missing the point a little. As a "Training Track" it can sustain a speedway track, it can actually make money, presumably all these riders training have to pay to use the track, and it can act as a venue ideal for those in South and Midlands in that guise. Better a Training track than a Housing Development. It's clearly going to take some time for the Owners to sort out Debts and Liabilities and after the debacle of Lakeside, who were financially solvent until moving there it seems; the BSPA will quite rightly be wary of giving anyone permission to run there. I don't think the Lakeside move encourages anyone to run there as anything but Rye House or Hoddesdon branded...."Hoddesdon Hawks" anyone??? - has a nice ring for old Hackney fans??. Wasn't there talk of Connor Dugard wanting to run NL there in the winter, I'm sure I read that in the NL season preview in the Speedway Star, presumably he, or his backers; or the BSPA decided it was not viable at this point even at NL level. Personally I think, let it thrive as a Training venue for a year or so and then look again, but it would be a brave man or woman who would venture there to promote in my opinion.
  21. Shame but a very sensible decision this time. Hopefully see Adam and Nathan in action next week and see if we can do a Liverpool and pull off a Cup miracle...
  22. It is tipping it down and has been for a few hours but on this occasion absolutely no one could complain if the worst happens as it is torrential rain but fingers crossed it may brighten up later
  23. you sound like a Man Utd fan in denial of Liverpool's great win last night conveniently forgetting the only professional speedway Club in the South East who are your great rivals. they had the best track man in the sport for decades, although I must say their track not as good when I went early in season as it used to be, although it was freezing cold and early season.
  24. completely different planning circumstances as those houses were built in knowledge speedway was there and would be there as long as speedway / dogs are viable. local Council also far more interested in speedway and to be fair swindon have far higher profile as in PL and on TV regularly.
  25. It's something a lot of us speedway fans never see or really have an awareness of "banking and cambers" I've only had chance to walk on 2-3 tracks but on each occasion been surprised that banking and cambers from on/inside is markedly different from what you think they are looking from outside the track. Any camber that pulls a rider in to a fence is dangerous, but on a straight - thats doubly dangerous. Explains a lot regarding the problems
