Berwick ‘buy a brick’ Bandits 2025
Wobblywheel replied to emilali's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Does anyone know what PK's average really is, for both Berwick and Oxford? The suspense is killing me! -
In addition to speedway, I am an Exeter Chiefs rugby supporter. There is no parking at the Sandy Park Stadium and you have to pay £10 to park a car and use the shuttle bus. This is in addition to the £65.00 ticket entrance. Most rugby stadiums are the same, so needless to say I do not go very often. But we speedway folk moan about a £2.00 parking charge!

..... and there was me thinking it might be Robert Lambert!

Artem Laguta - nyet!

I fear that our injuries will allow the Pirates to sink us. We are grateful to Dan Gilkes for guesting but JJ had some cracking rides around Sandy Lane this year. In the same vein, Jody Scott will try his best but he is an NDL rider and not a Championship one. This gives the Pirates quite a big advantage in my opinion, and they are at full strength. Anyway, can't wait for the action and "Come on you Cheatahs!"

All these names and I thought Ben was irreplacable. 😀 -
Championship Pairs Oxford 16th August 2024
Wobblywheel replied to Triple.H.'s topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I felt sorry for Danny Ford and his Poole Pirates being booed at the start of the meeting. Rest assured it was not the Oxford supporters - it was the away fans! -
I discovered the reason why and the racing has been superb.

First and foremost, Oxford Stadium is a greyhound stadium. The owner is quite happy to allow speedway on site. Often, as on Thursday there is greyhound racing during the day and I suspect the track curator was unable to to water and grade consistently throughout the day. Yes the delays at the start of the meeting were frustrating but it still finished at 21.25 hours precisely. Will Oxford speedway lose custom as a result of Thursday's meeting? Absolutely not. We had 2 track records and some fantastic racing with multiple passing and re-passing. Just look at the Speedway Updates proboards to check that out - gate and go it was not. Despite many people stating that Oxford were set up to fail with 3 teams, that was never going to happen because we are delighted to have regular speeday each week. One final point, the promotion have been brilliant since the re-opening. So, onwards and upwards.

Heat 13. It must be too smooth and dusty for the Aces now!
-
There are no bumps on the track and now a second track record from Dan B.
-
Don't know who is moaning about the track? It can't be that bad when there is a new track record in heat 4.
-
What is your basis for saying that Championship speedway is unlikely in 2025? The attendances for both leagues are good and supporters seem to relish regular, weekly meetings.

Speedway of Nations 2024

I have not been the the NSS before but have tickets for the final. We will be stopping off in Stockport and catching a bus in. I don't particularly want a burger and chips on-site and wonder if there are any half-decent eateries nearby? Any suggestions appreciated. -
