  1. Main Man, perhaps brother Lawrence would be interested in hosting these U21s at Redcar?
  2. What a lovely posting, Romie. Surely the Speedway Star will contact you or Steve for an interview during the winter close season. I'd hoped they would do one while you were over here and include photos. Thanks for coming over and entertaining us. No rain offs this time! You should be proud of your old man Fast Eddie maximum man Castro! Please return next year.
  3. As Phil is only asking for £1, surely someone will buy the Club and stop it going to the wall? " Bartlett has decided to let the club go for £1 for any prospective purchases taking on the club liabilities, he continued; “I invite anyone to take over the club at a price of £1! Anyone wanting to take over the club from me within 24 hours can do so by contacting me on my mobile or by email. Also by signing a confidentiality agreement a prospective purchaser will then be able to have access to all the accounting procedures that are in place. "
  4. Steve, it's all gone a bit quiet! You boys recovering from jet lag? Great news that you'll be at Weymouth. I'm guessing none of the boys have ridden there before? Congratulations to Bryce Starks for winning a race at what must have seemed a massive Sheffield track. I reckon the boys will win a few more at Plymouth tonight.
  5. Tom is such an exciting rider and has so dedicated himself to speedway. It seems a shame he is retiring at a relatively early age. Also that there is such a limited opportunity to say farewell to him. Here's one person that hopes you change your mind Tom next season!
  6. What a great decision by both Phil Bartlett and the Touring USA team. I think the Americans will have a lot of fun and the Weymouth public a lot of entertainment. Weymouth is a long way from where I live, but the weather forecast is dry and warm so I shall try my luck with the wife and ask if she fancies a weekend in Weymouth!
  7. Welcome to the UK. We're very much looking forward to you boys entertaining us again. Shame no Newcastle on 10th Oct now. Maybe Weymouth could be a possibility on your way back from Plymouth?
  8. A shame to see Phil go after he's kept it going for so long. But it's a great opportunity for someone to achieve a lifetime's ambition at relatively low cost and risk. But the BSPA need to make sure it's not a Clueless Claude who wouldn't complete a season even if he or she has enough funds to buy it.
  9. Sky Sports News is right now broadcasting as 6pm SS2 via red button.
  10. As there's a good weather forecast I am tempted. My decision is made more difficult as my wife has said never again after being showered in dust from the opening heat of the World U21 Final. GP on at 6pm. But it's an evening double header near the end of the season so I might just go. If you cover us in dust again, Len ..
  11. Thanks for clarifying the ages, Steve. I had wondered if some of the guys would be eligible for free bus passes whilst over here! A little early in Boogaloo's career to tkae part in this tour? Seriously, you're all very welcome and it will be great to re-see some from the past we never expected to see race again in England and the new boys showing us what they can do. But don't expect an easy ride. The Brits will want to beat ya!
  12. Steve, isn't Weymouth on the itinary after you not being able to make last time? What about going there on 9 Oct on your way back from Plymouth?
  13. Ipswich is great news. I look forward to seeing the USA team there.
  14. I have to say I didn't like those comments that he wasn't personally liable for all the debts because it was a limited company. I'm sure everyone feels sorry that Ray lost his wife. But Ray chose to be a Promoter and should honour the agreements he made. The riders invested in equipment and at the very least deserve to be paid for the meetings they rode for Mildenhall. Those guys rode for you and thought they could rely on you. It's not too late, pay the riders Ray.
  15. Give Cradley a chance of winning, Steve, race them at Wolves and Birmingham! Seriously, why not?
  16. I was surprised Len didn't call this off first thing as he he has done so often this season if the weather forecast isn't good. Presumably Plymouth were on route. Can Ivan come back next week?
  17. Great news you Boys are coming back to entertain us. Are you bringing the Animal? Britain awaits!
  18. "Nige" Pearson frequently misleads viewers by saying the away team needs to lose by "less than six" to get a match point.
  19. It's bad it's red button only for the full unedited live version. But at least it's Tony Millard commentating. He's already bringing out the best from Tiger Cub Louis.
  20. I always watch or tape the original as Sky often cut interesting bits from the repeats. Things like team managers throwing phones around!
  21. Some of the recent promoters who have recently disappeared from view. "Reggie" Perrin, Waggy, Ron Russell, Pat Bliss. These guys were "big knobs" and then plummeted like a stone. They will have interesting stories to tell.
  22. Tony Steele may well have voted not to start the meeting. But once the meeting started and racing became dangerous with Lindback approaching him in the Box, he surely should have gone down to the track. GM are you really saying an FIM ref can't delay a meeting to consult the riders and officials if racing conditions are appalling? Tony Steele must be the most experienced FIM ref yet chose not to. If I ever get the chance, I shall ask Mr Steele why. It wouldn't surprise me to hear Millard call him "Teflon" Tony in future
  23. Had to look at this thread after reading the accounts in the Speedway Star. If someone had been killed riding in those conditions, would a Court have accepted that no-one was in charge and capable of calling the meeting off? I think not. IMO this was buck passing of the first order and Mr Steele should be ashamed of himself and grateful no-one was crippled riding in those conditions. I can't accept anything prevented Mr Steele responding to his own eyesight and the appeal from Lindback to inspect the track. Riders safety should have come. It's inevitable some will conclude that pleasing the FIM came first - the allocators of big international meetings.
  24. I thought tonight’s was a real cracker, got better as it went on. The track was rather hard and slick, and early races were generally close but little passing. But over the evening, there was a decent level of passing and racing was nearly always close. Shame Scott touched the tapes for no good reason except perhaps that the Polish ref constantly held the tapes a long time throughout the meeting. Lee R’s 1st ride wasn’t much better as he doesn’t look confident enough to really attack the track or opponents in the corners. Looking lightweight this season, desperately needs fast bikes and his trapping back. Better later rides by Scott. 3 riders touch the tapes in a heat, and the ref immediately excludes Jonsson. Replay shows Lindback who was next to Jonsson rolled first and touched the tapes a fraction before Jonsson who then went straight through them. Jonsson rang the ref who agreed to check his decision on the telly – if he did, how could he not change his decision? Shock horror Greg Hancock spat on camera, though not while being interviewed – does this justify a fine perhaps?? Loramski in the studio with Havvy – a good duo, far better than Johnston & Pearson on commentary who were hopeless, eg taking ages to realise what was happening/who touched the tapes in the Jonsson/Lindback incident. Last ride, Lee R went from 1st to 3rd, his lack of speed almost embarrassing, sadly, plus he sat mid track which was the slowest line – should be experienced enough to avoid basic errors like that now. Nicki Pedersen was very entertaining but went over the top in wiping Bjarne out good and proper and then did himself no favours by grinning profusely afterwards. Clueless "Claud" Pearson talked as though the exclusion might go either way! They must change the rules so races can be awarded. Overall, I enjoyed the format tonight much more than last time. If only our British riders could rise to the occasion.
