Birmingham vs Leicester 11/08/2021
PowerfulPierre replied to IainB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
This is a must win for Leicester. Gaining points at Birmingham is vital for our play off hopes. There's a number of teams with matches in hand that could catch us up if we're not careful. -
I went to Eastbourne but didn't visit the shop. I prefer to remain loyal to Leicester and spend my hard earned in the Leicester track shop, having bought a couple of jackets, fleece, a couple of tee shirts, scarf, cap, programme boards and the very excellent ruck sack, which incidently was admired so much by the supporters at Edinburgh, that they actually took photos of it with a view to pursuading their track shop to get some. Always been happy with the quality (except maybe the durability of the programme boards which is a bit suspect) and I'll be back for more.

With Plymouth doing us a favour and beating Edinburgh last night, a win at Fortress Beaumont Park could see us jumping to 2nd in the league. Without wishing to be disrespectful to Birmingham, this will be a much tougher match, but we can do this. C'mon you Lions!! -

Fingers crossed that the Brummies will survive and that we take 3 points from them tomorrow night. After what has been a mediocre week where we had the potential of gaining 11 points but only managing 3, we desperately need a result and for it to stand, not just for our league position but for the good of speedway. -

I've just noticed on the Poole website that they're showing the start time at Leicester as !9.30. IT'S NOT!!! Start time at Leicester is 19.00. Would hate any of you coming up from Poole to miss the first few races. -

Sorry about the year folks. Should of course read 2021. Have asked the moderator to amend it. The heat's getting at me!!!!! -
With the averages now placing Dan Thompson firmly into the main part of the team, what amount of shuffling around is the gaffer going to do in the team order? Not sure that "flyin' Ryan" has looked comfortable at number 4; should there be a swap around with heat leaders too? Whatever happens, this should be a cracking meeting if the weather is kind to us!

Eastbourne v Leicester CL 18/7/21 3pm

So, with such "suspect" track watering and gate prep going on to the disatisfaction of the referee, does this go into the refs report to the B.S.P.A., and are sanctions put in place to ensure that this cheating does not go on again? First it was Glasgow 2 years ago, now it's an English team managed by a most competent Glaswegian who's being got at!!! -

Guessing that with both teams fielding competitive line ups, Leicester will be well represented on the 1st & 2nd bends cheering on the Lions & The Cubs! -
The B.S.P.A. will probably have to have a meeting in Tenerife once travel is allowed and work something out on the back of a fag packet!!!!!

Just checked the 2020 rule book and I've copied and pasted those rules which it would appear will apply for 2021:- 2020 SCB Rulebook 012.1.1 Premiership & Championship Leagues Championship League, teams will meet on 2 occasions, 1 home and 1 away. The League will then split into a North South divide and those clubs will meet additionally on 2 occasions, 1 home and 1 away. The quarter finals will consist of the 3rd v 6th placed team and 5th v 4th placed team, the top 2 teams will go direct to the semi final. The team who finishes at the top will have the pick of the quarter final winner in the semi final. Can't see anywhere whether or not we will actually ride again against teams under the North/South divide this year with the season starting late, and whether or not it could possibly influence whether or not there'll be quarter finals.

If Zaine Kennedy happens to be the worst kept secret since Hans Andersen, it may be that Leicester will have a guest on Saturday, pending his arrival and all of the paperwork being completed; also, coming from Australia, would he have to quarantine for 10 days? Don't know what the rules are for sports people and whether or not he would be classed as elite to be waved straight through the door at Heathrow.

So much for Niki coming after his antics in Denmark!!!
-
C'mon then. Lets open a book on who'll be in. Ilya Bondarenko, Sergey Darkin, Krystian Pieszczek, Grzegorz Walasek or An other former Lion?
-
In Saturday night's notes, the gaffer said that Josh was hoping to return for the Tigers at tomorrow night's meeting against the Aces. Well.......he's not! An update on his progress (or otherwise) would be nice. I guess however with Saturday postponed it gives time for a plan b or c or d! In the gaffer we trust!

Leicester v Kent 3 July

Yet again, 22 overpaid pre madonas kicking a bag of wind around an Italian park takes preference over speedway. Right business decision by the promotion but a pain in the a**e! -
Not so sure on Lasse. The tracks been altered since he last rode at Leicester and I'm never certain on his temperament. If he's in the right frame of mind he can be unbeatable but there are times, just like his brother, when he doesn't seem interested. Think we need somebody more dynamic. In the gaffer, I trust!!!!!

Leicester vs Newcastle 26/06/21
PowerfulPierre replied to IainB's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Fair comment Iainb. I take your point fully concerning issues re promotion. I belong to a byegone Leicester facebook group that often post old pictures of Blackbird Rd and am always surprised at the number of people that comment on how much they miss the speedway, oblivious to the fact that the Lions have now been roaring at Beaumont Park for many years! I'm not defending the lack of extra exposure of the cups to the supporters by the promotion, but maybe, the club have been exceptionally pre occupied with complying with all of the rules, regulations and restrictions set by the council to allow speedway to go ahead this year. W9, if you read any of this, any chance of a word with the gaffer to see if the cups can be brought down to Beaumont Park when restrictions are hopefully lifted at the end of next month, so that supporters can form an orderly queue to have their pics taken with them?
